Kickin' it old school with the green helmets. No face mask.
-
Sweet. Going all Penn State. Wait, wut?
-
Sounds like we need to start getting our mind around a white helmet with a green SOW. At at least we are starting to have consistency across the helmets (although I do wish they would try the interlocking letters on a helmet in order to judge reaction).
-
It looked like they were wearing the green speck helmets. Not the flat green helmets from last year. I suppose they do that to break in the new green helmets?

Are the tickets on sale somewhere? I thought the flyer said they were going on sale on 8/19. an student tickets be bought now?

It has always been a bit amusing when schools named after a city look down their noses at the so called directional schools. Mid you look into the city school histories, almost without exception they were either a religious affiliated school or the grew out of some sort of community college lineage (ala housta). The directional schools were almost exclusively teaching/normal colleges. I think the fact that some city named schools were private schools made the city schools like coog high got to ride the coat tails of some of the private schools.

Agreed, Houston is great. U of Housta is not.

I am just saying that in basketball, more than the other sports, the scholarship is a year to year proposition. The coaches started it and now the kids are compounding it by transferring in record numbers. The whole system is pretty messed up and not much loyalty on either side. Sad, really.

If Benford runs a kid off for being a non factor, he would hardly be in the minority when it comes to NCAA coaches.
-
Throwback Flying Worm for Iowa? I am guessing Hayden Fry will be in attendance and I am pretty sure they are planning festivities for McCarney.
-
So he will really only need one extra semester and not a full year. It would sure seem like he would have a good case. The trouble will be that it sounds like he was insured during his redshirt year. As far as I know, the NCAA would not rule until after the fall semester of 2016.
-
The AAC. Is that the conference that finished ranked behind CUSA and the MWC? Being ranked near the top of the ACA, or whatever its called, must be a real accomplishment for Housta. Congrats!
-
Is there a chance he has 2 years to play? 2011 - Graduated HS but did not enroll 2012-13 Enrolled but did not play (Freshman) 2013-2014 Redshirt Freshman? 2014-2015 Redshirt Sophmore? 2015-2016 Redshirt Junior? 2016-2017 Redshirt Senior? Any reason this would not be the case (assuming he did not enroll in the fall of 2011 upon graduation)?

Mean Green Sports Scrimmage #1 Recap
greenit replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
So the AD publishes a story with DS pictured at the top, note the TD pass he threw, and has a paragraph dedicated to DS talking about his athleticism and ability. We have already heard that he has moved up the depth chart prior to the scrimmage. Don't they realize they have a conspiracy to uphold? It would not be surprising to hear that DS has passed Means and is closing in on Greer. I don't see DS overtaking AM until he first shows he can pass Greer so he needs to do that before we worry about the next step. Good to hear about the RBs. -
MGB: Scrimmage notes (Updated with Mac video interview)
greenit replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Even if Mac thinks one of the other QBs can overtake McNylty, the last thing he wants to do is undermine McNulty's confidence or stature with the team. If McNulty does end up being the starter, he has to command respect. I expect in a week or so to start hearing how McNulty is being pushed and how everyone has really improved in order to get people pumped up. -
You can't be granted a sixth year until you have exhausted the first five

So, now they are copying our helmets too? ...and was that Emmitt in one of those pics?
-
Incredibly bad luck for him. Sounds like s freaky accident. Anyone who has every played any amount of pickup basketball has undoubtedly been hit in the eye plenty. Feel bad for him, but he sounds like he has remained positive throughout. I have heard one of the hardest things is depth perception with mono vision. Hopefully he can bring some intangibles coming from a top 20 program as well as some strong basketball skill.

Pretty sure pro scouts have been on campus recently. Probably scooped up another one. You can't blame Benford for cranking out professional players. Benford and Calipari just accept the fact that their players may turn pro at any time without notice. Don't forget about the limp. And one arm is shorter than the other.
-
I thought it was just due to his diminutive legs

49 is definitely standing out in these videos. The interior d-line is starting to look like we can put in some block eaters on running downs and bring in the speedsters if needed on passing downs. I am really looking forward to seeing this unit in action.
