It certainly seems that the staff is selling the juco's on the fact that there is plenty of playing time available, especially on D. And from the looks of it, the recruits are agreeing.

Makes it even more impressive if that is the case. I am expecting Shanbour to receive a scholarship this Fall. IMO, he is a 3 year older, 20lb heavier version of Fine. I think Harrell and Littrell will see enough in him and the fact he has been here two seasons as a walkon pretty much makes it a no brainer to offer him a scholarship since he won't count against the 25.

For the moment, it sounds like we have a 2 time Gatorade POY that owns most of the OK HS passing records coming to play for us and it may or may not cost us a scholarship. Hard to see the negative. If he had an extra star by his name, people would be doing cartwheels. I am glad to have him and hope somebody doesn't come in and steal him away.

Based on the hudl videos I saw, I guess I will have to defer to the coach's if they are high on him. To my untrained eye, I saw a lot of throws that looked like the throws from the last half of last year and most of this year. Lots of throws I saw in the videos would have trouble finding their target at this level, imho. I did not see a lot of zip, lots of floaters and touch passes. I am sure he has a plenty strong arm, I just didn't see much of it.

It will be interesting to see, but when I last checked, we already have 17 or 18 OL returning/coming in. I am certain we will sign at least a couple from HS, but it will be hard to imagine more than about 20 OL on the roster.

We can't add enough of these type of players at the skill positions. Big uglies need to be big and ugly. Skill position guys need to be smart and/or fast and/or big. It is nice to get all three, but if you have all three then there are lots of people chasing. If you told me we were going to sign the Oklahoma Gatorade player of the year who owns all the state passing records, I would say sign me up. Don't stop with just him, but I would not pass on him.

If a player already has a full ride paid for without an athletic scholarship (maybe has this through Cherokee Nation?), why would the school need to offer an athletic scholarship? PWO status would seem to do the trick.

If he enrolls in at least 12 hours in the Fall, the 5 year clock starts ticking, regardless of whether or not he is on scholarship. The difference with a grayshirt is that they don't enroll full time (12+) until January (i.e. after the season is over), which is how they get the extra season of eligibility.
