Go back and look at the wording of the announcement. Did it say fired, bought out, or removed?

I spoke with a coaching friend of Coach Mac this weekend and asked about his status. I have no way of knowing if this is true, but he said that Coach Mac was not bought out, but essentially reassigned. Next year he will have responsibilities to the university. He thought Mac was headed back to Iowa for the time being and thought after a year, he would move on to something else (which implied the contract would be terminated and end the financial responsibilities for UNT). Has anyone else heard anything to this effect?

Guys like Nutt, who are not currently coaching, should be some of the first candidates interviewed since they are not under restrictions. You may not ultimately go with them, but you should get them through the process now and the active coaches later after the season.

If you want to be a big time program act like a big time program, and big time programs do not make examples of their key contributors.

No shit. The team leadership needs to step up and run some guys off that quit on the rest of the team. Assuming we have any team leadership. Our captains or leadership council should be making some examples of some people. I will be disappointed if we don't see some new faces on the defensive side of the ball at least. That unit clearly quit after the 3rd series.

You could call it a committee, but lately it seems to be more of a circle related activity, with a jerking motion.

I like it CF. I like it a lot. These guys have figured out a pattern of success and know how to run a program and they try to replicate it on a larger scale. The young still has a lot to learn when it comes to running a program and not just one side of the ball. Good stuff. We can only hope that a few candidates from this mold are included with the likely list of coordinators and retreads from P5 programs.

Two years ago there were posters on here lauding Mac and the Fry family tree who are now having amnesia. He had it right where he needed it, didn't recruit the right QB to replace a departing one and the whole thing fell apart because he is stubborn and loyal to a fault.

Don't forget community representatives. "Coach, what would you do to help control the noise levels and traffic on Saturdays? The previous coach was getting pretty good at this."

I wouldn't mind hiring a defensive minded coach but I would want to make sure he is open to forward thinking offensive concept.

McNulty hasn't been playing defense, so I don't see how we keep them from scoring less than 60. But, if McNulty (anybody) replaces Whitfield at defensive back they might score one less touchdown. 63 WKU - 28 UNT without McNulty 56 WKU - 28 UNT with McNulty.

Of course he is not likely to answer, but when every where he turns someone is there to ask him about it, it increases the chances that he does something about it.
