Positive vs Negative Financial Reinforcement
greenit replied to UNT 90 Grad's topic in Mean Green Football
I am afraid that the amount raised would be less than impactful. The power that the dissidents on this board have is easy access to mass communication, not financial leverage. IMO -
If anyone is wondering how this year's team compares to the 2013 team, this game should give you a pretty good idea. This Marshall team seems to be an almost mirror image of the 2013 Mean Green football team IMO.

Who's playing?

@greenjoe, @adman, and @All About UNT. Is this what the others meant by the law of unintended consequences?

AAC savoring 'seminal moment' with three teams in the top 25

ESPiN at full power pumping AAC early in the year. -
I guess at the end of the day, I am against the banner. However, I am also ok with change of the AD. There are lots of things that seem very broken in that department from an administrative standpoint. The attention to detail and personnel management seems very lacking. I don't expect the AD to personally perform all the duties, but I expect him to hire and manage people that are. There are a few items of interest that I have noted as things have unfolded: As has been noted in another thread, never negotiate with terroristsDid RV recently reach out to his buddies with a campaign (raise money) so that he could fire Mac?Is it possible that RV had decided to fire Mac and purposefully leaked the firing news in hopes that the team might get distracted (understatement) and make the firing easier? (too much tin foil?)After all the turmoil, can the Prez really allow RV to remain in place and make the hire? Will a good coach accept a job (without getting a huge premium) with such public uncertainty with the status of the AD.Can we fast forward to the end, whatever that may be?

Evidently, at the mere possibility of being an RV hire, Fritz has gone into the tank. #TheRVcurse

You seem to be a little on edge lately. Every post, every thread, every day. Same message. Yes, I would call it an ax(e). Whatever floats your boat. You got passion, at least on this topic. Good luck?

If you walk outside today, I would walk in a serpentine pattern so as to not give God a clean shot.

Exactly @oldguystudent, nothing but lies and empty promises out of that guy. What exactly has @TheTastyGreek done for this board the last few years? The last few upgrades have been horrible. Where's the ninja emoji? He hasn't brought in any new content in forever and he last few fundraising campaigns have set the bar so low that anyone in that position could have raised those funds. This is about more than raising a few dollars. Tasty's Clubof12 that love to hang around him because he is so awesome need to wake up. They just want to keep this site small so they get access to a webmaster that they otherwise couldn't if they were on a site like Orangebloods or LandThieves. With the number of students and alumni we have, we should have 3 times the amount of traffic and posters. Someone should put together one of those snazzy bar charts showing how abysmal our growth numbers are, especially when compared to the number of students and alumni. How long has he been here? When is @gmgprez going to hold this guy accountable? And before one of you Tasty apologists like @subereC tries to bring up posters that Tasty hired like @CoachBillLewis or @Skipper, they may have some success and put up big numbers in the non revenue forums, but this is about the primary forums that generate traffic for this site. We should raise some money for a banner ad and fly it at the top of this site before the next game.

RV: Dodge was a good hire based on who we could hire

There appears to be a disconnect somewhere. I wish the medical community had a term for this. -
RV: Dodge was a good hire based on who we could hire
greenit replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Dodge himself may have been a decent name at the time, but what he needed was an AD that knew the type of staff that needed to be around a coach coming from HS. No way an AD that knows what he is doing would have let him bring his HS assistants with him, but our AD just looked the other way. Look at Briles in Houston. The AD there had to axe his S&C coach that he tried to bring with him from HS. He also made sure the coordinators he brought had college experience. Briles was a little shaky at first as I recall, but because of the experience he had around him he was able to recover. -
I wonder why there are so many contradictory statements coming out of the university these days when it comes to athletics? The AD seems to keep saying things like there will be a committee, and then suddenly says there will not be a committee and he will make the decision himself. Then the president comes out and contradicts the AD and says he will in fact be a part of the hiring decision. It is speculation on my part, but it sure seems like RV might have been the one that threw out the idea of a committee and his boss said, oh no you won't hide behind a committee, and then the AD makes a public comment about how it will be his decision and his along, and his boss said, oh no it isn't. It seems like someone besides the AD is controlling the narrative no matter how hard the AD is trying to make it seem like he is the one in charge. And then there was the whole 'we will have co-interim coaches', only to be changed to a single interim coach. I feel sad for North Texas.

Wow, I had only heard rumors that UNT90 had actually written a positive post before. Something must have gone terribly wrong at some point.

Who Are the Members of the Coach Hiring Committee?
greenit replied to rcade's topic in Mean Green Football
They will probably hide behind an anonymous name such as 'the search committee'. I suppose we all have our reasons, I just find it odd that people want to participate in something like this, but don't publish their real name. -
We've tried the other two ad nauseum. It's time to focus on a special teams oriented coach. Focus on recruiting QBs that can move the ball between the 20's. Feature the quick kick, inside kick, pooch punt. Bring back the drop kick. Paint coffins in the corners of the field. It will be like the triple option. Difficult to prepare for since you don't see it often.

Also hasn't tried picking the winning coach from GMG.com flag football game. Not that the game is exciting enough, but it might a little extra spice. -

Bummer. I was a little leary of the source of this info. He tends to be hit or miss with his info which is why I was looking for someone else to chime in. Too bad sounds like we are on the hook for the full amount.
