  1. Personally, as I have stars many times, would put eliminating the paycheck game at the top of the todo list so we could have 4 active H/H series going at a time. RV had scheduled a few FCS games to appease the coach and the fans, but had not scheduled out through 2020. Then there was a huge uproar about the 5 game schedule and how there would likely be more 5 game schedules in the future so RV's response was to schedule FCS games out through 2020. Great.
  2. Seems to me that RV would rather not schedule the FCS games, but between his coach and the fans on this very board screaming about 5 game schedules, he was backed into a corner. So...congrats to the schedule Nazis. You and Mac asked for this.
  3. If Canales ends up going somewhere else, one of the first questions he will be asked is who he has been recruiting and who he has in the pipeline. As a coach you don't stop recruiting. Ever. I don't see why it has to automatically be a negative about North Texas.
  4. Proof that hiring managers typically hire who the see in the mirror?
  5. To be fair most of you have been calling for RV to make a big splash with the next hire.
  6. I agree that A new coach does increase the likelihood of signing a HS QB.
  7. I have no problem with that. As long as you come in the stadium, you could be there to hear the Star Spangled Banner and go as far as I am concerned. Whatever floats your boat.
  8. Chance of adding someone at the break?
  9. I think he left at the right time. Maybe one season too late if he would have been first round after his freshman year. Sometimes it is better to be an unknown commodity than a known commodity. I still hope he keeps working and carves out a niche for himself. The NBA is a really tough league to crack.
  10. Banner?
  11. Obviously it looks bad for the U's reputation. What the hell kind of cheap ass banner is that?
  12. From the article, it appears he has been very focused on facilities recently. It also appears that the football team has recently gone into the toilet. I wonder if AD's should have someone on their staff attend to facilities so they can focus on the on court/field performance of their sports teams?
  13. Agree with the above. Play action should be Demarcus' best friend right now because we should be wearing out Wilson and Ivery right now with runs and quick outs.
  14. Have they fired their AD yet?
  15. I admit that I don't know much about Riddle, and he is probably a diamond in the rough. However, if his skills were clearly D1 level worthy, wouldn't he have had some D1 offers coming out of high school? And now that he has gone through another season of prep school and still no offers, maybe Mac had a point? After watching the inconsistency of Smith for a couple of full games plus the prior series here and there, it appears Mac and the rest of the staff were not entirely off base. I hope we have more options on the way, just in case.
  16. With very few exceptions, we are playing guys other than graduating seniors.
  17. University of Denton. Just sayin.
  18. It didn't stop Smith from running his mouth about how much better he could be if he only got the chance. Time to put up or shut up. He is a 4th year junior. The coaches are calling his plays from the sideline. All he has to do is throw the ball with some accuracy I am patient, but so far the results are very mixed with Smith. I do believe he has talent. Unless he steps up dramatically, we are probably looking at signing another Juco QB or graduate transfer this year.
  19. Why devalue an offer by becoming Oprah? have some self respect. If the kid has talent and he wants to go to UNT all he has to do is send an email.
  20. Stockstill is playing his son at QB correct? This situation sounds familiar, but I just can't put my finger on it.
  21. I know JimJim had the one bad carry and I thought he had one other where he picked up some decent yardage (2nd carry could have been a short pass, but really thought it was a run).
  22. I have been racking my brain trying to find some examples that are similar to the current situation with the AD. For example, where a group of people feel oppressed, or that they feel that their voice is not being heard, or that they feel they are being charged for things without getting something fair in return for their money. I keep thinking once I find an example of such situations or historical events, there will be a recurring theme of how those that feel they are being oppressed typically respond to these sorts of things. I also bet that once I can find some examples, I might even find an example or an event that would loosely relate to the flying of the banner thing. Oh well, I will keep looking. I am headed to Boston this week. I want to make sure and try some of the tea down by the harbour when I am there. I heard it is quite good although some don't like it as much. Maybe something will come to mind.
  23. I do agree that the line needs to pass block better However, A lot of this is on the QB. He has got to read the blitz better and get the ball out of there. Too much indecision.
  24. Seeing the excitement around the program that the hiring up a potential up and coming coach (Dodge) generated for the program and how it impacted recruiting for the positive, it seems like that is the model to pursue if you can correct the mistakes that were made in overseeing the building of his staff and oversight of his running of the program. Your job as an AD is not over as soon as the hire is made. If you can't trust your AD to do that, then the retread route or hiring the successful coach from a lower level may be the best option. Neither of these two options will provide a lot of buzz and thus impact recruiting in the short term.
  25. Maybe that is why RV publicly flipped his detractors the finger.
