While ultimately responsible, RV should not be spending his time on $2k and under donors. He has a senior associate AD whose job it is to run the MGC as well as ticketing as well as generating new donors. His name is John Nittardy. He has done nothing but seemingly go backwards since he got here. I hope someone is reviewing his track record since he arrived. His seat should be extremely warm imo.

MGB: Report -- Hollis will not sign with UNT today

After thinking about it, I agree. You are correct. If a player is interested in playing football he cannot sign a BB a scholly during early signing period. -
Question For @FlyOnTheWall Regarding Scheduling
greenit replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
This thread seems to be degenerating into another RV bashing thread. That was not my intent. I really was hoping to find out from Fly if there have been any real discussions internally about trying to eliminate the paycheck game. Essentially, is anyone pursuing a goal of eliminating these games? It is understood that it will take additional funds to do so. Hopefully, once he has a chance to look into it he will share some info. -
MGB: Report -- Hollis will not sign with UNT today

I think the way it would work is if Benford offered him a scholly he would start out counting against the basketball limit. If it was later determined that the football team wanted him to play and he made the team he would count against the football recruiting class and the basketball a holly would be freed up. However, if the new coach did not have an interest he would still be covered under his basketballs scholly. At least that is how I think it would work. -
MGB: Report -- Hollis will not sign with UNT today

Pretty sure he could sign now for basketball and then if he makes the football team then his scholarship would actually come from the football numbers. Nothing would prevent him from signing now afaik. -
Question For @FlyOnTheWall Regarding Scheduling
greenit replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
I am not so sure if it is truly a reality for us. We have 35k+ students. We are one of the 25 largest universities in the US. We have resources. We are not broke. The original point of this thread was asking the question if the elimination of the paycheck game has been seriously discussed by the powers that be.. While we are looking at increasing the funding of the program, eliminating the paycheck game seemingly is one area that can have the greatest positive impact on the program. -
ESPN and SEC network make UNT the joke of college football
greenit replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
You guys do realize that the Guvna hand picks the BOR of the state schools, correct? I would not be surprised to see a large percentage of new appointees to be campaign contributors. Has anyone researched the BOR at the other state unis? It would be interesting to know the makeup of other school BORs and how many are alumni. -

Question For @FlyOnTheWall Regarding Scheduling
greenit replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
It seems to me that it would be a lot easier to sell season tickets and MGC memberships with a schedule that replaces the paycheck and FCS games with a couple of reasonable H/H series with other FBS teams that hold some interest for UNT fans. I get that it takes money. I don't know that an AD is the answer for this situation. It really should come from the top. The University administration has to fund this type of thing or else the boosters have to fund it. It sounds like the administration and major donors have recognized that the funding levels have to go up if any real change is going to occur. If we simply replace the coach without making changes like this, I feel we are just kicking the can down the road. Same goes for the AD. Without significant culture changes, treating the symptoms won't have a significant impact. Just like allowing tailgating, this will be another necessary step in the journey to change the culture around the program. This allows us to publicly proclaim anyone, anywhere, anytime. We will play anyone as long as they are also willing to play us at our place. Period. -
I've witnessed the results of your driving skills. Please don't do that to Ernie.

@flyonthewall regarding future scheduling, has there been any discussion of eliminating paycheck games? There could be a lot of goodwill created if we take a stand and announce that we will be eliminating future games that do not involve a return home game for UNT. It seems to be that announcing the elimination of the paycheck game by the Athletic Department would rank right up there with allowing tailgating as a positive change that will affect the program. If not, what is the argument to keep them? There seem to be quite a few people that see the continuation of the paycheck game as being a large roadblock to building support (better chance of wins, improved home schedule, increased season ticket sales, MGC membership, public perception, etc...). Any thoughts?

I think the term you are looking for is contrails.

Serious question. Have you found yourself thinking of he idea of adding a sweater vest to your wardrobe lately?
-
C'mon, unless you are really butt hurt by all this, you have to admit that there are some pretty funny similarities that can be drawn between the two camps.

$1,900? Did you even try to negotiate a better deal?

Nov. 11, 2015Dear UNT Community,I, personally, find some of what recently has been preached from the city sidewalks that border our campus to be abhorrent and contrary to our universitys values. While I understand the rights of those preaching to express their opinions, I also believe this kind of diatribe to be hateful and hurtful. I become especially concerned when its directed at members of our university family. Our university has long been a supportive, caring, inclusive community. We value and celebrate our diversity. And, most importantly, we act with respect toward one another. Our university expects individuals to have their own points of view and we respect the rights of each to express them. And, we also must practice constructive, civil dialogue as differing points of view are shared and examined. We cant prevent the hateful speech of others. We can as a community and individually control how we respond to it. I, for one, will not engage those who spew hateful speech. However you choose to respond, I thank you all for participating in dialogue civilly and without violence, even when confronted with speech you deem abhorrent. I also encourage you to be supportive of one another, and especially of those who feel threatened and slandered by such hateful speech. Thank you for being respectful and kind to one another. I wonder if 10% of the students even know what a Rick Villareal is.

Why would a kid sign to play for a coach who's job is very publicly on the line? Seems like a smart move. If Benny is still around, sign in April. -
Denton, all business in the front and party in the back. Bully Ray Cyrus approves.

Some sort of sign making business?

What I'd Like To See During The Tennessee Blowout
greenit replied to HarringtonFishSmeller's topic in Mean Green Football
Our DLine has been working, and almost perfected, the swinging gate defense that Michael Finley perfected during his time with the Dallas Mavericks. It is a form of politically correct non violent defense that our DC promotes. We basically make the ball carrier think he is going to get hit but at the last minute we swing the gate open and surprise the RB and hope that he falls to the ground. -

If we took a felt of game on every play in order to use the entire clock and we ran the ball on every play, would we win the time of possession battle?
