Saw him and Rob Evans at Mavericks practice yesterday, catching up with Jae Crowder. Benford and Crowder know each other from Marquette, of course. The three of them and Rick Carlisle looked like they had a nice conversation after practice. No significance, just was an interesting crossing of worlds for me that I figured I'd throw out there. Maybe he picked up some coaching tips.

Both worthy choices, definitely could have mentioned them as well.

From what I was told, they were "immature" and "not ready for Division-I basketball." It was in both parties best interest for them to go JUCO instead of come play for the Mean Green.

^^ Ended up being pretty accurate. Close score, first downs, more than solid special teams, an interception. My 38-23 prediction wasn't too far off, either. That's surprising. I'm historically pretty bad at predictions.

Wasn't his punt before the end of the half a little iffy? Set up the long, missed field goal. Maybe I just didn't get a good look at it. But kicking out of the back of the end zone isn't easy. I'm not blaming him for that one considering how well he did the rest of the game. Nice job by him, and great job in general from the special teams. It's always huge if you can consistently win that battle.

nah. They were able to bust a few long runs, but what about the previous five halves? It might just take some more time. I like Pegram as the third back way more than Brown. I'd be surprised if they're able to run on Georgia, though.

I'd be more optimistic if the run game hadn't looked so mediocre so far. Gotta get Derek Thompson some help (bet you never thought you'd hear anyone say those words).

Quite upsetting. Mean Green really had a shot to prove how good they were. They beat McNeese State 2-0, and McNeese tied Baylor. There's not a doubt in my mind UNT could have played Baylor almost equally. Even a one goal loss, to the 13th ranked team in the country, is further proof they belong in the top 25.

I don't know how much you guys keep up with us (probably not too much), but if you're interested, now you know. They're more geared towards hardcore Mean Green fans than most of the stuff we do. Thompson said it was just a thumb cramp after the game. Downed some pedialyte and was good to go. I didn't know thumbs could cramp, but it sure looked fine the rest of the game. And yeah, McCarney said he yelled at some "knuckleheads" (I suspect it was a bit more explicit than that) pretty bad after they didn't help catch DT.

Also, shattering the "I do dah football sport harhar" stigma, football upped its overall GPA to 2.7.

I noticed that too, and it does seem like that's what they're planning. Hard to tell from just the map, though. I hope that's the plan.

Offensively, I think Shawn Marion is a good comparison. With a good point guard, Tony could get three or four buckets a game just based on his athleticism cutting to the basket and running the break. Marion is way ahead of him defensively, though. Tony's never going to be known as a shut down defender.
