  1. Pinkel was just about to get fired after 5 seasons at Missouri. This is not a quick fix. Dodge underestimated the Belt coming into this program. Now he understands but its an uphill battle.
  2. Missouri has one of the best offenses in the country. Rick knows they use not only one TE but two TE's depending on the formation. They like to give max blocking schemes to assist in the blitz packages coming at Daniels. I see Dodge trying to adjust his game and formations but Rick is right, we could use a TE to keep things more multiple and to assist in the passing game and the running game. I hate agreeing with some people on this board but the better teams are more multiple than just the spread.
  3. UNT plays much better against teams that line up and run the ball and pass second. FAU last season was a fine example of that. We can stuff the run but its when teams that have athletes that throw the ball all over the field that UNT has trouble.
  4. Miller is tough as nails. I hope he gets back soon. He is a tremendous hustle player that brings energy. Best of luck to you Joe.
  5. Well said, big Rick. Meager should have remained the starter last season and Tune or Phillips should have been the back-up. UNT would have been a lot better of in the future with several players like Dibrell, Breece, BJ Lewis, Vizza, and Mosely not playing a single down.
  6. Riley to start against FIU. His speed will win games. Zone read option will now be the play of choice. Riley will be the difference maker and will completely turn the team around in all facets of the game, especially on defense and special teams. Lets start the campaign now.
  7. OLd Timer the game was OVER at half. UNT scores 20 with no turnovers and is down freakin 36 points. One interception what deflected and another Roberson let the DB strip the ball from him. Offense is the least of our concerns.
  8. I don't know what to tell you when Rice score 35 points in the second quarter alone. UNT offense scores 20 in the first half, turns the ball over zero times and is behind 36 points at half time. THAT IS DEMORALIZING. We are asking a lot of the offense to win every game.
  9. Actually, I thought LSU brought the heat very well. Giovanni just did a good job throwing the ball away to avoid sacks and made a couple of scramble throws for completions.
  10. DeLoach just needs to take the whole banana over on special teams.
  11. Deloach, if I remember correctly, coached special teams at UCLA. UNT needs to put its absolute best athletes on the field to cover punts and kick offs. I think we are leaving some talent on the sideline. Freshman DBs are having trouble making open field tackles. The speed of the game is just too much for some of them. They are also just not strong enough.
  12. We get Drake, Gilmore, Mosely, Kartay, and others back and we will be ready to go against Rice. Vizza, Casey and Dibrell can't do whole a lot more. We need someone who can get out of press coverages on the outside. Roberson is just too inexperienced and not a pure route runner. We miss players like Fentriss, Washington, and Brock the last couple of games. Brandon was experienced and strong enough to get off press coverage. He just didn't do a lot after the catch. I expect more 3 receiver sets and using the H back more often. I can see getting the ball to Brock as an H back. Lott, Dodge, and maybe Breece can work inside on 3 wideouts sets leaving Casey and Dibrell on the outside.
  13. ULL had a tough loss as did MTSU. Sunbelt is getting better and better.
  14. Get home boys safely. You played your butts off. UNT can take Rice after what I saw tonight. It will take a huge effort but UNT is gathering some experience and if we can just eliminate the big plays and huge 3rd down conversions, we can take the owls.
  15. Take away the huge and explosive plays and this could have been a close game. Penaties at crucial times hurt as did a few drops. LSU blitz packages were tremendous. They out chessed matched us tonight on several big offensive series. Running game cannot get us a first down in 2 or 3 in short, never.
  16. Take away big plays and this game could be close. Team is playing hard. Offensive can throw but no running game as usual.
  17. He should have never thrown it.
  18. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Roberson catches the long one (right in his hands) against Tulsa and then what? When a team loses, the first person to go and to take all the blame is the QB. The nice thing about our QB is that he takes all the responsibility and never tries to deflect it. Not last season and not now.
  19. The mean green get home safely and healthy. Watch for TD to start Riley tonight. The corners at LSU are two of the best in America. The slot positions (Fitz and Dodge) will have to make big plays and use their speed to get off constant press coverage. LSU will play man, press our players and jam them on the line of scrimmage. It will be tough to have any throwing opportunities. If you watched App. State (who has tremendous athletes) you know what I'm talking about. 10 points by UNT offense will be a successful game. LSU athletes are just a different breed of animal. Blitz coming all night long. Deloach must make all the right calls tonight. Hopefully, we won't let two very inexperienced QB's play pitch and catch all night long.
  20. It sure would be nice to see Lance play his ass off in Baton Rouge. Maybe this will be his break out game in front of some old friends, coaches and family. Good luck Lance.
  21. LSU needs to make a decision, Wednesday sure seems to be pushing it. But I guess a wet field gives them a huge advantage with their huge OL and DL. UNT offense is not built for bad weather games.
  22. The fallout will be based on the fact that Dodge was told a stadium deal would be done. (only making a guess)
  23. Crying mean green fans, please stay at home. Don't attend the game in Irving. Keep your negativity in the comfort of your mansions.
  24. No blow out loss but a loss to ARk. State is brutal in front of over 85,000 people.
  25. I just hope the coaches and the players don't read all this crap. Those players on both sides of the line of scrimmage are never taking a play off. They are giving it all they have. You have guys busting their butts and you can tell they are giving it all they have. UNT is asking a lot out of way too many true freshman and sophomores to carry the load. Dodge's first recruiting class will be winners and set the new bar but its a few years away. One day, we will thank that first recruiting class of Todd Dodge for persevering through this and paving the way for future teams by never giving up and being big time contributors.
