Tony Franklin is a heckuva hire. He makes Todd Ford look like a HS coach. He makes TD himself look like a HS coach.
-
There will be no battle. Dodge starts Dodge. TD himself called his son in the NY Times the second best QB he has coached and seen. The annointed one is what Dodge wanted all along. The only reason he might play nathan tune is to give his son an opportunity to look even better and for tune to take the pounding in games one and two.

If they get Atkinson and maybe one more, UNT should get at least 4 wins. ULL lost several key players. I think the Belt might be down some. Army is a sure win. ULL is a win. Ball State lost its QB, great time to catch them early. I see a big win against Ball State.

Hey Riley needs WR's to throw the ball to. Ease off the tons of WR prospects TD has gotten for his son.
-
UNT can't afford to buyout TD regardless of the season he has in 2009. He'll be back in 2010 and all hell will break lose on this board. The Westlake job came open one year to early for Dodge.
-
No offers? Either he is really banged up or he is not legitimate with those kinds of numbers.
-
Tough loss but it goes with the territory. The big schools would have gotten him but they recognized early on that he was going to be a casualty.

Banquet Award Winners/recruits On Hand

We don't need raw talent. We need players now or TD will be gone. -
An early signing period would have cost us Riley Dodge and Gio prior. But you can see why the mid majors want an early signing period. It keeps kids from changing their mind and puts more kids on the table earlier for the mid conferences.
-
Great news for Coach George and Dodge and Dodge. Gonna have some players that are on scholarship instead of so many non schollies getting critical minutes
-
Hopefully Dodge will give Nathan the opportunity to shine in the spring. Dodge screwed Nathan at the end of the season giving Riley his reps but now that our former starting QB left, Nathan is coming back rather than sitting out. That is extremely good news. Best of luck to Nathan, a good guy.
-
We need a good year out of Franklin. We should have never used him last season and waisted a season of eligibility.
-
Dodge will never get a top QB recruit or transfer as long as his son is here, imo. TD doesn't want one to appear. JUCO Qb's are more ready than one Riley Dodge.
-
I think we are looking for anyone who can make an impact on Defensive line of scrimmage.
-
You have to support him because that is what's in place. I am curious how many wins he needs to stay or is it about just being competitive. I believe this team will make big strides being competitive but will it be enough?
-
Gandy is like putting a band aid on a huge wound that needs stiches. All the coaches last season participated in Special teams. It would have been nice to get an expert in that area.
-
Dodge and RV have every right to do whatever they want. They can "Flacco" him and have done from what I have read.
-
It's one player. The team needs a slew of good players. This will only motivate those who stay more. Vizza will me missed and is a legitimate D-1 players or a hall of fame coach wouldn't have recruited him but this team needs so much more than a QB. And problems must run deeper than anyone really knows. RV has to be scratching his balls wondering what the hell happened.

Whoa!....tcu's Patterson Get's $1.7 Million Base Sala
Dodge2007 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Patterson deserves every penny. Coffers run deep at TCU and UNT with 500 times the alumni of TCU will never unfortunately be a TCU in football based on todays program. -
Riley and Todd need to do this together. This is not unexpected. Its just a fact that Riley came to play as did Chris Simms with Mack Brown. Its a part of college football. Promises are made all the time. This is no different, it just happens to be father and son instead of coach and player BUT its all the same deal. Life goes on. I am more interested in Mosely, Dunbar, Hamilton and Montgomery. Now that will be interesting. I wonder if Mosely had his surgery yet? It looks like Hamilton and Montgomery will split all backfield reps with Riley during the spring. Not sure when Mosely and Dunbar are expected back?

Sign defense and more defense and throw in a replacement for the TRU "man" I kind of wonder if former SLC WR Blake Cantu is headed to UNT to play for his former head coach. Cantu is no where to be found on the Oregon Roster.
-
As I watch this game and the previous bowl games the last few nights is the speed and the defenses. UNT needs to sign every darn defensive player that is worthly of a scholarship. I would go JUCO all the way and search all over the south and southeast. Defense wins these games and speed kills. You see that kick off return by LA Tech, we have no one with that kind of speed except maybe Jamaal Jackson (maybe). Defense would win us a lot of games and at least keep the mean green close.

Nt Athletic Web Site Article On Jc Signees
Dodge2007 replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
That is laughable but whatever dude. ERA, you must believe in the SLC stat machine. Be careful what you wish for. Alabama will break him in half. "Slide Riley, slide." Red jersey time in spring ball for one Riley Dodge. -
Dodge should go for the motherload of Defensive players in the JUCO ranks. Defense can win many a game and will keep games close. Look at Tulsa, turnover galore and still almost won the conference championship game.

How Innovative Is Todd Dodge's Offensive Mind?
Dodge2007 replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Football
Blame it on the QB, he can't decide on what freaking toppings to put on his pizza. Just ask ol' Rick, nautique, Lonnie, Tasty and all the others who really know.
