  1. My bad, i need to proof read my own BS.
  2. Show up at SMU and we'll find out how this Dodge coached team responds. I am betting that UNT comes out on fire on defense.
  3. I guarantee you that Mendoza will be working on open field tackling this week. I know we got burned playing Cover 1, the whole game, but our tackling was inexcusable. I would love to know the stats on missed tackles. I bet it would be amazing.
  4. You can twist and turn the QB situation anyway you want. I taped the game and watched it over and over. For example, Meager had one pick but had one pick dropped that would have been an easy return for a touchdown on a stop route. If Meager would have stepped up in the pocket on several occasions-----open receivers in crossing routes were available. On the positive side, he threaded the needle on several throws on out routes, if those throws were not perfect, they would have been picked. He had several balls dropped in his defense. Threw the ball away on a couple of plays that warranted it. Vizza, he threw his first pick and was hit as he threw and never got anything on the ball, probably should have taken a sack or thrown it away earlier. 2nd pick was text book int by the LB coming under the curl route, freshman mistake, he NEVER saw the LB. He also had some drops and if you go back and look at the film he wasn't playing against the scrubs, it was the first team Db's all the way. So if all things are equal which they are not (true freshman in first game vs. a veteran) what do we have now? Meager will get the start, that is an easy choice by Dodge. He is going to give Meager every opportunity to show his capabilities. We burned Vizza's shirt so if Dodge does not keep developing the freshman in games then I believe that will be a mistake. He must prove out Meager but keep Vizza's development going forward. Is that valid? Now come the intangibles, Vizza for a true freshman has unbelievable poise and toughness. I can see why his teamates rally around a kid who tries to run over an OU linebacker and gets killed but gets up quick (and on TV he is smiling) and continues to run the ball like a Full back on his next carries. I think Dodge is trying to prove out Meager and I am all for that. Meager deserves his chance in this system. I just hope Dodge finds a way to keep Vizza on the field some because he needs to make his mistakes early on and then get ready for conference play. You cannot compare Meager to Vizza, your talking about apples and oranges. Let's rally behind them both and see what happens.
  5. I think Dodge and Mendoza caught got a little bit on their defensive plan for OU. The only way we could have kept the game from getting completely out of hand so fast was to play cover 2 and cover 3 defenses. I do beleive they did not adjust well at all, (just being honest). We could have had them kill the clock more by having them grind the ball on us instead of hitting every damn pass. Bradford may have been glanced just a few times. Bradford was throwing balls like he had no defense in front of him. His stats were outrageous because had easy throws all night long. Easy bubble screen passes for scores, etc. I am now convinced that Dodge underestimated the composure of this freshman QB, and might have underestimated his toughness and ability to make plays at this level. OU will be the best Defense we'll see until next season's opener with LSU (and it might not be even then). OL was better than I had hoped. OL still has a long way to go but they did have their moments. Fitzgerald is a stud, best player on the field by far. J-MO might be gone which leaves us with a freshman starting. I think Vizza showed more heart the Jamario, running the ball and that should'nt even be close. Would have liked to have seen the freshman WR's some but that is what SMU is for. Mendoza better working on TACKLING. Our tackling was pitiful, you have to admit that. High hopes for conference play. Dodge is a competitor and will have us ready for SMU.
  6. In all honestly, I felt like Daniel never checked off and was AFFRAID to make a mistake. He played scared in some regards. I liked the way Vizza made quick decisions and stepped up in the pocket.
  7. I am bringing two vans full. We'll represent. I think the fans would go nuts if the freshman hit the field first. Ain't gonna happen but I think that would be something to motivate our team and our fans if #15 started.
  8. I like Meager but you must admit that at 18 yrs. old and a true frosh, not too many kids can show that kind of "game" and composure. He looked like a play maker. I like what Casey had to say about him "he competed, he showed the will and made plays." You can tell by his running style that he is a freakin cimpetitor. I must admit also that he made quicker reads than Daniel. Vizza will learn from those linebacker int's. They were dropping seven on a lot of plays and Vizza lost the LB. Those are freshman mistakes, just ask Matt Stafford he threw 8 td and 16 picks as a true freshman. TD is going with Meager as long as possible to spoon feed Giovanni along. Talent, heart, and playmaking abilities you go with Vizza but Daniel will get his chance to tear up SMU. Let's give DM his chance and then we'll see what TD does with Vizza.
  9. Vizza is tough as hell, he runs the ball hard, maybe as hard as anyone we have right now, i know that sounds crazy, but he runs with authority. He is a playmaker for sure and brings energy. One bad read but he made some great throws and had a couple of big drops. Meager starts against SMU but I wouldn't be surprised to see Vizza get some playing time.
  10. Ou just had way too much speed and the strength of our team (our defense) didn't deliver. I really believe Mendoza should have gone to Cover 2 instead of so much man coverage. Mendoza was bound and determined to stack the box and to bring heat but our scheme was not sound in my opinion. I personally believe our defensive adjustments were poor. I do believe Mendoza got schooled and yes OU had some of the best team speed you'll ever see but he should have gone cover two at least some of the game. Meager did a decent job. He missed an easy throw to Brock that would have been a score but he also delivered some nice throws. I admit he was lucky that he didn't have at least two more picks. He doesn't finish runs at all, at least not like the freshman. Vizza did sime nice things and brought some energy for sure. Problem Vizza had was that OU was pressuring with only 4 and were dropping 7 because they knew we had no running game. Vizza had several drops that should have been big plays. Casey was by far our most consistent WR, not even close. B-Jax was disppointing. He should have caught two great throws by Vizza, one for a score, imo. Mendoza is a workaholic and will rebound. Our tackling was atrocious and you know Mendoza will address that. Dodge starts Meager for at least two more games but Vizza is away head of the learning curve for a true frosh. Truman was outstanding. Kick off coverage was pitiful as well as our kickoff return. Man our offense was in the hole most of the night.
  11. Are Vizza and Dibrell white? Just BS ing.
  12. We know that Micah will get some action (because Dodge said so). I wonder how many of the freshman WR's see action (Dibrell, Lewis, Johnson) and I wonder if Vizza gets any snaps. Look forward to your comment. Are their any other freshman traveling besides the kicker?
  13. A sincere thanks for the practice notes. Some good obversations. Sounds like some freshman are making themselves known. Beat OU
  14. Dodge supposed to be on in the 11:30 hour
  15. Dodge is most likely the right guy for UNT. Everyone was concerned how long he would stay. UNT has him for at least another 5 seasons considering Riley most likely red shirts next season. That is longer than most folks expected.
  16. I hear ya on that one. That is some crazy BS. I can't even imagine that, nor will I.
  17. If RV can get UNT in Conference USA, in the next 3 years or so, I woud take that scenario and run.
  18. I'll be there but I am flying up from Houston. Going to get there early to get my buzz and game face on. I'll piss off a few Sooners like I do a few posters on this board, without a doubt.
  19. It's interesting you say that, the day after Riley works out at the Texas combine for invitees only, he announces he is headed to UNT.
  20. I have never been to Norman but I hear those guys are nuts. That freakin Boomer Sooner will be playing all damn day.
  21. http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthrea...8053&page=4 If we can only get some early breaks!!!!!!!! Biggest fear is how well OU defense performs against spread offenses. How effective will Meager be running the zone reads, option, and QB leads/draws that Dodge has in his offense? Hopefully, J-MO's hamstring stays in tact, because as Dodge stated, "he is our best player on offense."
  22. You are kidding us with that BCS conference statement aren't you. Let's win some games and give the program 3-5 years and then see where its at, before we talk about the BCS.
  23. I must be wrong then. My bad. Just seems overhyped to me.
  24. Bring on the family.......maybe the Italian freshman can bring Tony Soprano and crew to take out some OU studs in pregame warm-ups. Dodge has an interesting wit to him. He is very catchy with his choice of words and in his delivery. He is very good at PR and motivation, without a doubt. He has a swagger to him that will get knocked down (early this season) some but he won't stay down long.
  25. This is the most overhyped QB in Texas. If he didn't play at SLC, he might not start at other schools nor would he have the stats. I like Riley but this is ridiculous. Good kid, good athlete, but way overhyped. Don't tell me the only reason, is that he wants to play for his dad, on why he is coming to UNT. I know our defense is licking their chops to see this kid takes some shots in spring ball.
