  1. He'll wish he had used them more if Casey and/or Brandon go down. Casey had a freakin iv in his arm at half. Leads me to believe that a little rotation would not have been so bad. But if you want to make until conference to break in some second team, so be it. TD is the wizard but I just don't agree with burning a shirt and not letting them play against that weak secondary. ROBERSON never hit the field, that was a mistake by the scorekeeper.
  2. Fortunately, 3 balls hit SMU db's right in the hands and the ball hit the turf. I could care less how many interceptions he threw either, when you throw it over 60 times a game. But its the type of INT's that make you wonder some time and its the interceptions during the critical moments of the game that matter. I would have taken 8 picks as long as we win the game.
  3. Great post and research and More the reason to be using the 2 deep kids in getting them ready for the conference run.
  4. If that is the case, then Dibrell, imo, should have gotten some action if he already burned his shirt. Breece ran out there for one play when Casey was dead tired. More the case for some rotation. Hell, even OU rotated WR's. We have to get those guys some meaning full reps. I can understand why Vizza didn't get any reps but not the WR's.
  5. Thanks for the reply. I had no idea that is how it worked.
  6. I am concerned that TD is not getting any of our young guys any experience at WR. No Rod Johnson, Dibrell, Breece and little use of BJ Lewis. If your best WR (Casey) is getting an iv at half then something isn't right. I saw that Breece went in the game for one play. Anyone know the NCAA rules about the number of plays a kid can get without giving up their eligibility? We had two non conference games and we don't know who can back up Casey or Brandon, meaning we have no idea who can make plays. Our two deep our freshman, that is the way it goes. TD should have gotten them or those he will not redshirt in the game against SMU, imo. Any one who knows the NCAA rule on participation and losing eligibility, please dive in. For example, did Breece lose his eligibility by playing one play or did Dibrell lose his by playing in three plays at the end of the game vs. OU? What about the freshman QB, did he lose his option to red shirt? You would have thought that the freshman Wideouts would have played against the worst secondary in America.
  7. UNT should be so lucky to have such a horrible stadium as Ford Field. In only our dreams, will a stadium of that quality be built in the MG Village.
  8. That fact that DM only threw 3 picks is a miracle in itself. He should have had at least 5. Our problem is not only defensively but its the fact that we have to chunk it that many times. NO running game, means you can't beat good teams and SMU literally is terrible. Meager must run the ball more effectively for our offense to be balanced because Micah is only going to do so much if he is our only threat.
  9. Anybody that believes we don't have to run the ball to be successful is freaking kidding themselves. Sorry stat watchers, but we only play a SMU caliber of defense once a year. Good teams are going to kick our ass if they do not have to worry about the running game. These projections are fun for those who like to watch NMSU but what about winning some games. No, I am not negative about all the awesome things we are doing but who wants to analyze a stat game where you lose by 14 after throwing for 1000 passing yards, who gives a crap. SMU is laughing their ass off about us gushing about our records, which didn't mean jack crap. When it mattered, we folded up like a tent. Why didn't Dodge use more of our WR core? When is he going to give BJ and all the others in the game. Our freakin wideouts are playing ever down for the most part, no rotation at all and BJ had three freakin catches in the first quarter and then we saw no more. Brandon and Casey were exhausted, how do you expect to have them run block after running route after route? Damn, Casey told me he had an iv at halftime.
  10. Leave Roman alone. No CB is doing anything better than he is. He is a competitor and just a young kid. Get off his back.
  11. Wins bring top recruits. TV and playing with the big boys brings top recruits. We have to find the diamonds in the rough for the most part like CASEY FITZ. BUT STATS don't account for recruits, only WINS. NMSU and Hal Mumme throw it better than anyone for many-many seasons but they have no "D" and "D" wins championships.
  12. It is all about winning........SCOREBOARD is the only stat. I want to win be it with Meager or Vizza or TD in disguise, I could care less. Put the SOB who can win and has the WILL to win on the field. Two more losses with DM regardless of stats and I start Vizza, imo.
  13. Again, another great post. It is about winning not stats.
  14. Meager earned his start in the rotation. Great game against SMU. HE had the HIGHEST of HIGH'S but also the lowest of low's all in the same game. I have been a starch supporter on this board for DM and have been called a Meager Mom and everything else under the sun. DM will continue to start and don't ever expect another kind of stat game like this again. Don't judge Daniel by his stats, lets judge Daniel on wins and losses. Give him his fair chance and then we'll see how things go. He must find a way to win this type of game against SMU and I am the first to admit it. STATS alone don't cut it. Meager will keep his job with consistency and winning.......end of story. Give him his chance and we'll see what happens. Great job DM. DM must find a way to win these types of games because this was our game to win and wins are precious at any stage of the season. DM must show the intangibles to win games but must be given the due process to do so.
  15. GREAT POST. Actually someone seeing something besides the STATS.
  16. Hey, don't get me wrong stats are important...........I am not happy about the way we lost and how everyone is giddy on the stats. I would take an ugly WIN, than all stats combined.....I don't want to be the run and shoot Houston Cougars who only worried about STATS. LET's win games and worrry about the stats second.
  17. WE played what might have been one of the worst secondary's ever. WE had these guys on the ropes and just couldn't finish. Stats are numbers that winners don't look at, they look at the W vs. L column and the scoreboard. SMU has scoreboard and we are hanging our hat on stats??? NO OFFENSE to anyone, but when it counted UNT did not FINISH.
  18. Is there a plan you can buy game (s) on per game basis? Anyone know how that can be done or do you have to sign up for the monthly plan by SMU??????
  19. http://www.meangreensports.com/pdf5/83496....;DB_OEM_ID=1800 Some worthless tidbits from the OU game: Meager one short of his personal best for completions. Casey and Brandon lead Sun Belt in receptions in first week of play. Casey had career night on receptions and yardage. Vizza ( they say its pronounced VEE-za) is the first ever UNT player EVER as a true freshman to throw a TD pass in his first game. We had 21 players play in their first game ever at UNT with 15 being true or red shirt freshman (9 true freshman saw action). SMU leads the series 27-4-1 but after SATURDAY, UNT will have 5 wins. SMU will lose to its second straight Sun Belt foe in Arkansas State the following week. Bennett's ass is grass after this season. Todd Ford, OC, is the 4th youngest coordinator in D-1 football.
  20. One thing positive (for our defense) about playing SMU, is that our defense sees the spread every day in practice. SMU's version has its variations that Dodge doesn't implement but none the less, it is a spread offense. Obviously, the same could be said about SMU's defensive coordinator but Mendoza will at least fair better in this opportunity, imo. Mendoza won't have to worry so much about stacking the box in order to stop the run as he did against OU. I liked what Todd had to say about going "good on good" this week in order to step up our level of tackling and defensive coverage. He said so, knowing he is taking some calculated risk of some injury. But that was the marching orders of the week, first team going more against first team. There is a huge difference in the TECH defense vs. OU, talent wise. I expect Danny to have the biggest day of his career throwing the ball. If our OL can protect, our offense is going to score some points. This is the game for Bennett. He cannot afford to lose this game or his job will be history. WE'LL get SMU's best game and effort.
  21. Cr is right on the money. Those two freshman played with their hair on fire. They both tried to bring the wood to the defense and tried to finish off their runs with authority.
  22. Fitzgerald is really something special. Dickey had no idea what he had in Casey.
  23. Damn good post by Emmitt. I can't believe in his radio show that TD asked for the fans not to be discouraged and to show up and support. I really felt sorry for the guy to have to make that kind of statement. If Meager is on target we should get off to a good start. SMU actually played pretty good defense but just could not get any pressure on Graham. Tech has such great HOT reads when SMU tried to blitz. They execute better than any spread throwing offense in the country. UNT defense needs to give our offense great field position and we need to be able to run the ball some. Vizza runs better and gives us another dimension but we won't see him unless the game gets out of control again or unless Meager is flat out off his game.
  24. No, but I wish I was that age again. Meager played well enough and deserves his opportunity under this regime. I thought early this summer that this system is tailored made for him....and that still remains to be seen BUT PLEASE give him his chance. If not, we have more than a capable player that can come in and perfrom who backs up Danny. TD is going to try to prove everyone wrong that he can coach up Daniel to be a success, this is his expertise.
  25. Forgot to add that Meager was a completely different player under Dodge's watch. I just wish he would have tried to make some more plays and wished he would stay and step up in the pocket. I think Vizza is the best thing that happened to Daniel. The competition and the coaching have made Daniel a better player than ever before. I thought DM would really do well in this system. The next 2 or 3 games will tell us a lot.
