  1. This guy has been nothing short of impressive. I like several of the changes happening, personnel wise, on the defensive side of the ball. Still would like to see what Penson can do with some more meaningful reps.
  2. Congratulations Fitz, you are the true feel good story of 2007. You are what college athletics are all about, never giving up and always believing in yourself.
  3. Losing creates problems and winning solves everything. I feel for those parents and players who feel like they deserve to be on the field. Coaching changes suck and recruiting year after year for players who might replace those players has to be tough on everyone. This is the part of college football that is nasty. Coaching staffs are constantly trying to replace kids or areas of their team with better players be it thru the high school or junior college ranks. This is a business that hurts many kids and families. Maybe the administrators of this board can make some new rules that do not allow any post that attacks any player. In other words, if you have nothing good to say then don't say it. Coaches and administrators are professionals and get paid. If you want to negatively go after them, then so be it. But maybe we can lay off Roman, the O-L, the slow linebackers, the QB play, Jamario vs. his freshman year, the kicker, the slow WR core, the poor technique by the DB's who have no speed, the ball boy, the strength coach, the janitor, etc, etc. I would hate to think that any member of the current staff is lying to any kid on the team. I have trouble with those kinds of comments. Coaches motivate in various ways that we fans sometime like and sometimes despise. Again, this is a big time business and its all about the money. If your thinking otherwise, I believe your thinking wrong. I know I need a big dose of this medicine.
  4. The young guys of today don't know this guy unless they are a historian. I don't think his name lends that much to the table, inititially, but once they get there on recruiting trips, I am sure Baylor will play up one of the best LB's ever. Baylor's only cure is to win games, period.
  5. This was posted on the Troy Forum.......... Well, even though our rush defense is bad, our pass defense is ranked 18th in the country. I think this plays to our advantage in a big way against N. Tx. Even though we are 117th in rush defense, N. Tx. is 118th. They are also 111th in pass defense. They are 119th in the country in total defense. This should be a game of keep-away. We are 89th in total defense, so we should be able to mitigate a lot of their passing game with our pass defense. They average 95 yds per game on the ground and 341 in the air. If we have an average effort of rush defense, and have our usual pass defense, we put the ball in Omar's hands to do with it what he wants. Really, I think this game could get ugly, like a few of the posters on here would like to see. If it does, I don't think LB will let it get Oklahoma ugly, but 30 pts would be my guess. I say we score about 45-52 pts, while giving up only 17-22.
  6. Montey, your a class act. I am sure the family really appreciates that.
  7. Rick Yeats is darn good photographer.
  8. Amen for a victory for the community as a whole, especially the players and coaches, and to both the families of the players and coaches.
  9. Going to have to play lights out on defense to stay in the game. Offense has to play field position and take their shots when available. Kicking game must be perfect. The stars must align just right. I believe UNT will play well. UNT must not play from behind. Troy is so explosive running and passing. They have the best backfield in the conference. It should be a good one and I look forward to TD and Mendoza getting their second win.
  10. You have to be proud if your a fan of Navy or a graduate of the Academy. Discipline and more discipline. They get the absolute most out of the true student athlete. Makes me proud to be a American, when you watch the effort those guys give. Fouts will rock the house on Nov. 10. I sure hope I get to attend the game as do so many others that live in the Dallas area.
  11. ULM was very balanced against ASU. They threw for almost 200 and had 235 rushing on 51 attempts. ASU had 3 turnovers.
  12. Fireman rick has a lot of passion. I respect the hell out of that. Rick, if you were Dodge, what would be your call on the defensive scheme, defensive decisions etc? You have all the facts and figures but what does UNT do about it. What's your take? Seriously, what would you like to see done.
  13. ULM beats a very good Ark. State team tonight. I was very surprised by that.
  14. 29 points should have been enough to win this game. Rick, Why are we giving up the big play???
  15. Rick, helluva post. Defense will respond against ULL. It better or it is going to get ugly for Dodge and Mendoza. Yes Rick, I did consider my source. Your the source, must admit, great post. Dodge is protecting Mendoza from the media but a bad Defensive called game will really turn up the heat.
  16. Defense rises to the occasion against a weak and depleted OL. Meager will have over 400 yards on a secondary that will give up the short and intermediate routes. DM breaks out and wins the game, securing his future? DM better or that will be it. Defense will play its best game of the season in all phases of the game. I am thinking a route. See some of you in Lewisville on Saturday.
  17. Expect Meager to have a SMU-FAU type of game against a soft coverage type of team like ULL. DM's success this weekend is critical to his future and Dodge knows that.
  18. Leadership was a big topic on the podcast. Maybe Brett Vito can ask Dodge who we can expect to step up and lead on offense, now or in the future. I talk to the players and have slighted information. But maybe Brett can find out from Dodge who we can expect to start leading this team besides TD himself. Moreland was mentioned, special teams, offensive production, defensive production. Hell, we have no positives. Daniel will have a big game. This his DM's type of game. Soft secondary, all the short passes, screens, and bubbles (high completion rate type of routes) will be available. Then UNT will hit them over the top on the deep ball after they start crowding up. UNT wins the game especially with ULL beaten up on the OL. ULL strength is the running game. No OL, no win for ULL.
  19. Save me and a couple of the players not traveling, a seat. I have designated drivers since these homeboys don't drink. I will be the dude that will stumble out of the party, if UNT does not get a "W." I have a new custom made cap that will stand out like my posts.
  20. Like I said, coaches lose games they are supposed to win, i.e. FAU and SMU. The 4-3 scheme and lack of pressure from the almightly LB blitz package is not cutting the mustard. Everyone who has watched on all the Dallas TV channels knows that TD's swagger is boardline arrogance. Does that mean I don't like TD, of course not. But you have to take some responsibilty and admit when your struggling and look yourself right in the mirror. I am pro TD, but calling for bronze plaques for Dodge and Mendoza might be a little premature. Well maybe not, your a SLCoutsider. Put up the bronze and statues up over there, where they are well deserved. UNT is not SLC.
  21. Meager is the starter, get over it. DM is going to set all the school records for the season and be 0-12 if our team as a whole doesn't get better.
  22. Rick, since your the smartest dude on the board and the best connected, ask Vito to ask Dodge why he hired Mendoza away from Flower Mound or Grand Prairie or somewhere because Mendoza gave Dodge fits (hell, Dodge said so in one of his very first press conferences, when he announced some of his staff) Common Rick, I know you have that press conference on tape somewhere. It's a fact. Sorry Rick, I am wrong most of the time but not on this one. Its really amazing that when you have a typo, that you can't take it back. I wish I could be perfect like you Rick. By the way, I want one of those fire lids. Any idea where I can get one? Seriously, when you pose with that lid, make your eagle claw and and your eagle claw smile for all those photos your in, it kind of gives me some hope to be on the VIP board with you. Rick, stay off my ass, or you'll get me banned again. I just wish I could find that photo of you with Eagle claw look on your face. Please somebody help me find it.
  23. Dodge said Mendoza game him fits at Rockwall and McKinney, I believe, not at SLC. I think Mendoza was then at Flower Mound or Grand Prairie or somewhere like that.
  24. Like I said in a previous post, coaches lose games that they are supposed to win.....Mack Brown
  25. Ask Texas Tech if OU hasn't learned to stop the spread and ask Texas as well, prior, to Vince Young's one great season. The thing about Dodge's spread is he only has two formations. Trips, or doubles. Never does he run a TE in the game to drag across the middle, to assist in the running game, nor does he run in a TE to assist in pass blocking off the edge. Dodge's offense does not mix in any other formation then an occasional no back set (5 wide). OU, except on occasions, has defensed the spread awful well.
