  1. At least no one is trashing this kid like the others have been trashed. It is safe to say NOW that Dodge that has the entire team. No one believes in him. Not even the kids who played for him in HS. Why? because he is full of crap. He is not about family. He is only worried about himself and his son. End of story. No offense but I hope Riley gets the crap kicked out of him so Nathan gets to play. Even though Tune was out the door, I would rather see him play than the spoiled Dodge family, who are not as "clean" and true as they make themselves out to be. THey have serious skeletons in the closet.
  2. Sad but so true. We can't find any good gear. I asked Mandy about the good gear and her response was that was one of the benefits of working in the AD dept. We are missing out on the good looking gear and the Athletic Dept. is missing out on sales. Pretty typical but totally unacceptable.
  3. Now that is funny.
  4. AMEN. After Saturday with way more talent and more size and experience on the OL, we looked pitiful. Wind is no excuse. Wind is always an issue at our luxury stadium.
  5. When isn't the wind not a factor at Fouts. There is always a ton of wind. Lame excuses for an offense that didn't look good at all with a lot more talent and experience. And the so called "extra coach" on the field. What a joke. Keeping it vanilla was not Dodge's goal. The team was prepared to show case itself. Vanilla is not what Todd wanted. That is a bullshit answer for a week performance. Lets be honest.
  6. Having a poll like this is like asking if Fireman Rick will ever take off his lid for a ball game. This is a slam dunk question. Dodge is going down with Todd Dodge Jr. at the helm. Or he will keep his job because of Junior. End of story.
  7. WOW! What a let down. Riley is nowhere near the throwing QB people think he is. I didn't see all this magic about him knowing the offense like a coach. Actually, I saw a fragile kid who wouldn't start this season if #15 was here. Sorry but so true. Blunt hurts but we have a long way to go. Last spring we threw all over the defense with a much worse set of WR's. Todd even said so that we have way more talent this spring at WR than he has ever had. This is college football. This isn't SLC when they could dominate on scheme and talent that was superior to all the teams they faced except for Trinity. The fun was in the parking lot and seeing the layout for the new stadium. Other than that, this scrimmage was very unimpressive.
  8. I truly expect the offense to dominate this defense especially on the first team. Cam will have a big scrimmage which will open up huge holes for Riley to run circles all over this defense with the zone read play because the defense will be caving in on Cam early on to stop him and the OLB's do not have the speed to stop Riley on the outside. Expect Dodge to insure that Riley has a huge spring game. I believe that some Wr's are going to take it to the house on some easy hitch throws and catches. First pass of the game will be a bubble screen. Get the confidence early. Special teams will be interesting. Jackson will make a huge impression just like last season in returning kicks. I think Tobe and Gilmore will be solid but other than that, don't expect much out of this defense. The offense just like last season moves the ball at will on this defense. Will Deloach make a difference or will the offense steal the show again? Either way, it should be fun to watch and my buddies and I will all be toasted before and after the game. gmg
  9. Have you been in the football complex at TCU?? Its a night day difference between the two programs as far as the entire football complex, imo.
  10. A good post as he tells it like he sees it. OL will be a lot strong with Drake in the lineup. Kelvin is a stud. These guys now have at least two or three seasons of experience along with a redshirt season. The OL will keep us from getting killed from the pass rush. WR's have to play big in this offense. Hopefully, they will do so. Cam and Dunbar are a great combination and a good change of pace. Kicking game and special teams will be again critical. Nice post Brett.
  11. Good post and your right on the money. He will set every freshman record imaginable. Dodge is gonna make sure of that.
  12. When can we actually expect to see a stadium built and completed? Dr. B's approach and comments still make me feel like we are several years away.
  13. Baine is a nice athlete but quite honestly has not yet earned a scholly yet. This season should be the one that gets him a deal if he proves that he is a legitimate 3rd string QB but also makes stride as a WR and kick or punter returner. TD won't waste a scholly on a walk on until they have done something. NOTHING wrong with that philosophy.
  14. If that is true, he must be one tremendous athlete.
  15. I was on the observation deck and our look bigger, stronger and faster than last season. WR's finally have some speed. RB is loaded. Riley will start without a doubt based on the reps. DL still thin. OL looks to be much improved over the last several seasons. I like our DE coach. He is a definite upgrade.
  16. I totally agree and thats a good post.
  17. He's glad to be a QB with a shot at playing now. It wasn't going to happen otherwise.
  18. Now that is a surprise. Poor Nathan doesn't have a prayer. The only thing Dodge might do is start Nathan against Ball State and Alabama, let him fail, then insert the wonderboy. If you talk to Nathan, which I have, he doesn't want to start, just for that reason. He wants Todd Dodge Junior (yes, its his real name) to start.
  19. Common Rick, you know that isn't gonna happen.
  20. Hands down, Mean Joe. The only player who the country sees aligned with North Texas.
  21. Dodge being rumored for a HS job is quite a compliment for the University. We have to be thrilled that our HC thinks being possible wanted at the HS level is flattering. This guy has got to go. Dodge should worry about BIG BOTTLED HEADED kids who are cheating the system and potentially going to hurt this team especially if its a kid who in two months has gone over 200 lbs. from all the PM messages I am getting. Its the obvious SLC phamarcy is now being employed at Fouts Field. Ask Padron about the juice and who is on the juice now at UNT. Who people who post I don't give a damn, and everybody does it, are too naive and just too dam stupid. If the NCAA tests on Player at UNT for roids, and its a player of this magnitude, it will take us down. THAT's WHY I GIVE A DAMN. Next time he shows up at the pit, you can tell. UNT2012 is dead on. Its gross and very scary. Sets a bad image and tells the others on the team that anything is fair and we will look the other way.
  22. What's worse? Having unknown and unproven coaches or having your coaches robbed from your program? I guess their is a reason our program is in such a mess with a unproven head coach ( and his cast of past and still present characters). Owls Rice athletics with Moisekapenda Bower « Owls basketball: Rodney Foster video | Main | Owls baseball: The Seastrunk Experiment » February 09, 2009 Owls football: Another one bites the dust Paging Rick LaFavers. Darrell Patterson, please pick up the white courtesy phone. At this stage, LaFavers and Patterson might be questioning their coaching chops. With offensive line coach/running game coordinator Blake Miller getting called up to the big leagues on Sunday, LaFavers (tight ends) and Patterson (running backs) are the lone offensive coaches still aligned with Team Bailiff. Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tom Herman took the money and ran off to Iowa State. Dan Hammerschmidt wanted what was best for his family, so he moved on to Wyoming. Miller longed to coach for an established program, and S&C coach Yancy McKnight managed all three in joining Herman in Ames. Bailiff has had better months, but he understands the game. When smaller programs win, bigger programs come sniffing around. Coaches are poached and replaced, the season comes and goes, and the cycle repeats itself. On some level Bailiff is flattered that he constructed a staff of coaches programs with deeper pockets lust after. He reiterated his goal to hire assistants that will help Rice keep winning. If those assistants are whisked off to greater paydays, that means the Owls are thriving. Beyond the defections, that's the bottom line. Should CDC make competitive financial offers to keep the assistants in the fold? Absolutely. Should he throw ungodly amounts of money at coaches who might not want to stay on South Main anyway? Probably not. Sometimes things happen to where no one is really to blame, even the loss of four coaches in six weeks. Posted by Moisekapenda Bower at February 9, 2009 09:45 PM
  23. The biggest thing for the QB's this season will be Dodge going to TE's. Max blitz protection will now be a must with a QB that is suspect in taking big hits. That is a very smart move by TD. TE's will give our offense so much more protection and versatility. Its about time. I see our offense being more diversified, similar to Missouri's spread. If Daniel's doesn't make the NFL, he will join TD's staff. That would be a great thing for Dodge and Ford.
  24. Tom and his wife are great people. I love Tom's analysis before each game. He has his eyes and ears on the program. Good food from good people. I eat there all the time.
  25. Dual threat is over hyped in Dodge's offense. He has one or two wrinkles using the QB in the running game. A QB draw, a QB read, and occasionally the option. Let's leave Riley in the pocket and let him scramble and get out of bounds to keep him healthy. Running him at QB will not be the answer for him long term. Getting more QB's in spring ball was imperative. Maybe now we will see some contact and see who can take shots. Its better to know now than during the season, imo.
