  1. Dave Campbell's winter edition I just received my advance copy of Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine -- the winter edition. The magazine is the Texas Football Bible when it hits the stands late in the summer and is trying something new with a postseason, pre-spring practice offering. I wrote the UNT story again. The magazine -- the whole magazine, not just the UNT section -- turned out pretty well, in my humble opinion. The tough part about the timing of the release of the magazine is that it comes when there is a lot going on with most teams. Stories were due before UNT head coach Todd Dodge fired defensive coordinator Ron Mendoza and cornerbacks coach Butch LaCroix resigned. The rewrite didn't make it into the final edition, although they were able to slip in a note in another spot about Mendoza. There are a few other UNT tidbits spread throughout the magazine. Wide receiver Casey Fitzgerald made the All-Texas College first team, while offensive lineman Kelvin Drake and defensive end Jeremiah Chapman were second-team picks. UNT's recruiting class received a positive review. The magazine rated individual prospects as well as potential signing classes and has Riley Dodge rated No. 2 among quarterbacks, Forrest Rucker No. 7 among tight ends and Royce Hill No. 6 among cornerbacks. Hill isn't listed as a UNT commitment because it was printed before he made his decision to sign with the Mean Green.
  2. Troy, Fau, or UNT will not ever get any respect in the SBC. Troy's record and strength of schedule proved that out this season.
  3. Thanks for the update. Where did you find that info so that hopefully I can get off work to see the scrimmage or catch a practice or so?
  4. UNT has only ten shades of green that is seen throughout the Mean Green World. Time to throw all the crap away and begin a new, with the colors of 2007 and the future. Maybe against Tulsa, we can black out the stadium and show some kind of cohesiveness. Or for those who do not believe in the ultra slick black and green that Dodge wears then how about a white out with the appropriate green on the t-shirts. I know we need sponsorship money. But it can be done.
  5. Major gets a raise, comes back to DKM Field, bides his time, and retains his legendary status. Great deal for him.
  6. Big Daddy, I am right there with you. But Emmitt keeps breaking my chops, wow that hurts.
  7. It was not a layoff, it was a better opportunity at Bama without a lot more money than Tulsa could ever pay a position coach.
  8. Sad, but true. At least he didn't get too attached to those kids at Rice and Bama. But you gotta to feel for the ones he coached himself and if he was the one, who recruited that particular kid.
  9. Major it expected to make his deal official with UT tonight. After only one year at Rice and then one year at Bama, Applewhite is gone and hits the next trail. Contracts don't mean crap and that has to change soon because recruits are getting burned. Applewhite signed a two-year contract at $250,000 annually with a $50,000 buyout at Alabama before last season. Applewhite can't be announced as a member of the Texas staff until the close of business today.
  10. Get your "beer patio pass" and have a bunch of toddies and then head over to the student section to experience the atmosphere, its a helluva lot more fun being in the sun, with the band, and all the students. Well, maybe not the sun in September.
  11. What you mean it that RF is out of a job. Individual Recruiting services have no clout with college coaches, imo.
  12. How did you steal my picture out of my ID from work??
  13. Sh*t maybe my female source inside the athletic department was wrong. I hope not. Mean Green Nation needs a return home by Deloach.
  14. With prescription drugs stuffed in their pockets.
  15. Another high school coach? I realized he played ball but its about having the ability to teach what you know (to me there is a difference)? Many of the great teachers of the game did not play the game at highest of levels. By no means am I insinuating he can't coach, because if he can, he is definitely the right man, without a doubt.
  16. Drink the beer on the patio and support UNT at the same time.
  17. My home boys in HP are working class not the dudes in the pimped up cars, doing the drugs on campus, or living high on the hog. Sanitation engineers like myself don't have friends in the "high" places in HP.
  18. Mallett ends up in Arkansas which will eventually move Nathan Dick back to the Metroplex. Nathan will hopefully reconsider UNT or he'll head down to some of my home boys at Highland Park and play for June Jones.
  19. Deloach is official.
  20. Upgrading UNT up to the big time (facilty wise and then with wins and a conference change) would have a long time lasting financial impact on the Denton community. You don't think Lubbock or College Station benefits from a bigger University and the following those schools have on game day weekends?
  21. Good post!!!!!!!!!
  22. The dude only took a crappy program and stayed 9 seasons. He asked his former employer to put more money into facilites but realized he wasn't going to get it. Now are you going to call Dodge a whore when he leaves in 3 to 5 seasons? (If a new stadium is not built and someone gives him a Million dollar raise? I would hope not.
  23. Give the business to Frenchy's. If Frenchy can't do it then nobody can. ( I think that is how the saying goes) 301 Dallas Drive, Ste. C-1 Denton, TX 76205-5297 Tel: (940) 387-3164
  24. Why does any city fund athletic venues or the Symphony for that matter? Athletics venues cost big bucks and the communties who rally around great county and city leadership get sh*t done and others just piss and moan and cry about everything else.
  25. 1/2 cent sales tax is big dollars, one cent sales tax is huge just in the City of Denton. Hell Rick alone on Loop 288 with his fireman's hat or boot could raise the difference.
