Ttech Adds Eastern Washington To Fb Schedule
Dodge2007 replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
MG program needs more $$ than wins at this point. -
I heard that Nora Jones was coming back as a Grad. Asst.
-
Kind of a cool scenario. You can bet that Les will have them ready. I'm hoping LSU spanks both App and Troy and then takes the next week of against the MG.
-
Hill Billies suck. Those guys can stick it.

If it's got to be thanksgiving week, let's move it inside. Army for example played a "home" game against A&M in Texas for recruiting. How about taking the game to Texas Stadium and playing on Wednesday, Thurs. or Friday? Maybe getting the game closer to Dallas will draw some more fans and as importantly more recruits. Maybe UNT can give every kid in the Metroplex, who plays football, a ticket to the game.

Tcu: Part Of New Seating Construction Collapses

Damn, somebody might want to check the bleachers at Fouts! -
Where is the depth? It's at WR. If everyone stays their will something like 13 or 14 Wr's on scholarship and not counting a couple of walk-ons that played a play or two last season. I could see two or three leave. I could see maybe one RB leave, because of this style of offense. One of the kickers might leave. We also had Chad leave so its possibly more than a rumor. This time next season, some schollies might come available at DB, you'd think. The only other deal could be a QB. 5 Qb's on roster now and 6 in the fall. Something might give. Vizza could leave and follow his friend who will be a senior Qb at Rice. Hopefully, no one leaves unless it is good for the team and also for the individual.

Sad story for the kid and the family. Hopefully this kid can overcome this mental blunder.
-
Didn't the Phillips kid enroll early or not? His brother is a stud at TCU. This kid will end up at LB.

Riley Dodge Highlight Of 2008 Recruit Class
Dodge2007 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I bet Meager, Tune and the the rest of the boys feel the same. Getting future QB's (of value) is going to be an issue, that will be a fact for at least two more recruiting seasons. I hope Tune, Vizza, Meager, and Johnson stick for awhile. -
When did nmstu ever play any defense??

Riley Dodge Highlight Of 2008 Recruit Class
Dodge2007 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Todd Reesing is about 5ft. 9" and plays big 12 football and had no hype or fan fare. There has to be more reason why riley wasn't offered a spot to play QB in mid major or BSC school? What could that be? Most feel Riley will start early on. The way TD beams about Riley, he'll get his chance asap. -
UNT needed the beef and it appears we'll land some boys who will compete for some snaps. We were last in protecting the QB from sacks so landing some size and hopefully, ability makes the OL battles that more interesting. Competition is going to be fierce this spring and fall at every position. That is beautiful.

I had no idea they had such an animal as bootcamp. Is that for all players or just walk-ons?

January 31, 2008 Lanny Mixon BigGoldNation.com One prospect that has been flying under the radar this year is Trinity Valley (Tex.) C.C defensive back Cordarious Mingo. He sports half a dozen division I offers and is getting close to making his decision known. After taking a visit to Southern Miss on 1/25 it appears that he's almost ready to announce where he'll spend the remainder of his college career. "I'm going to announce on Friday," Mingo said of his forthcoming announcment. Mingo took an official visit to Southern Miss this past weekend and visited North Texas in December. He talked about his visit to Southern Miss. "It went good," he said of his visit to Southern Miss. "Tumbo was my host. We hung out mingled with all the player got to know them." He was hosted by Southern Miss linebacker Tokumbo Abanikanda. This was Mingo's first visit to Hattiesburg and he came away impressed with the campus and facilities. "Everything," he said. "I liked everything, the facilities are real nice." In addition to Southern Miss he sports offers from Arkansas St, Baylor, North Texas, and UAB. "Oklahoma State offered me but then the coach that I was talking too left," he sad. "He's at Southern Miss now." So, will Mingo take another visit before signing day. "I don't know Illinois is talking to me about coming up there this weekend," he said. "I don't know if I'll go or not." BigGoldNation.com will continue to follow this story and will have commitment news as soon as Mingo makes his announcement. BigGoldNation.com is your complete source for Southern Miss recruiting. ©2008 BigGoldNation.com, all rights reserved.

Osu's Plan For Increasing Season Ticket Sales
Dodge2007 replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
Great marketing tool for the big boys. Very similar to what the Mavericks do to see the Spurs or Koby or whoever. They package up a great game with a couple of less quality opponents. Unless UNT went independent and had a new stadium, I could see them pulling that off. But its a only dream right now. -
Don't forget about Tomlinson, Johnson, and Kaiser. These big boys all took a shirt in 2007. They guys probably put on 30- 40 lbs. and added a lot of muscle working out on the weights 5 times a week.

If someone called and reported me a racist, Yeah, regardless of my position, I would be pissed off. Now does it keep Dodge from doing his job? NO But do those comments and the way the DRC and Vito covered the ending piss Dodge off? You bet your J LO ass that it did. DRC would do well to get another sports reporter to cover UNT football, at a minimum.

Latest Belt Committment Numbers From Rivals
Dodge2007 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Again, it's bs. How does Troy end up with all those "no names" and kick everyone's ass? -
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. In my worthless opinion, Dodge (and the racial bs) was in poor taste and lacked fundamentally sound journalism. BUT IT SOLD NEWSPAPERS. The comments about Keith? Why drag a kid in the news when its not really necessary? Why embarass him more than he already is about being arrested? If you call that good journalism, god bless you. I just happen to believe it wasn't necessary. Why doesn't everyone's DUI or DWI or arrest be written in every paper? I just feel like students should be not subjected to that kind of crap over something minor, but again, that just me. Brett is the only source of UNT sports news, so he gets a free pass?? I get it.
-
It's because Robert has already enrolled and is getting after it.
-
Tact is the nact of making a point without making an enemy. Vito's reporting on the racism BS had to have pissed the entire Dodge staff off. I bet Dodge would like to kick Vito's ass over that crap. His most recent blog about the UNT-LSU match-up.....making a comment like "the potential BEAT DOWN that UNT will be given by LSU" makes me and I guarantee has to make the players and coaches pissed off. BEAT DOWN, wow, how optomistic! Why bring up the negative coverage of Keith Wooden at all? Was that really necessary? Vito has to be a journalist but the dude has no tact and to me, jumps on crap too fast without thinking of the effect it has on the program (s). Troy Phillips will get all the scoop that Dodge "wants" to get out, way before Vito. The Keith Wooden deal pissed many people off including JJ and even though Vito did a blog about how well Wooden handled it, I don't believe that article was necessary, imo.

Weathers should have been the special teams player of the year, at a minimum.
