  1. Miller is the best DE get we have had in many years. His film is great. He has the size and the proxy to do big things here! Welcome Sam!!!!
  2. Brooks is a great get. He is very fluid and at 6 ft tall, he has the frame to gain some weight. I expect him to stay at cb and be 6 ft 180 when he plays. Welcome aboard, Nate!
  3. True. Maybe 5 lbs is more reasonable. Regardless, I think everyone will be surprised about the DL.
  4. While I understand everyone's concern about the D-line, I am optimistic about this season and here is why: DE I think we will have the most athletic group of DEs in a long time. I expect Daryl Mason to have his best season yet and be a true leader on the defense. His size (6-3 263) and speed will make him the most athletic freak on the team. I also expect Malik Dilonga to be a stud and have a breakout season. His size (6-4 261) and speed (faster and longer than Mason) will be a huge upgrade from last year on the pass rush. Mix in Chad Polk (6-0 230) and we have a formidable pass rush. I think Tillman Johnson (6-1 250) and Jerrian Roberts (6-2 248) will be great rotation guys. Throw in Andy Flushe (6-3 240) and we have some depth there. *I added 10 lbs to each players weight as this is what i expect summer workout will do. DT I understand everyones concern here in regards to size. We lost Abbe who was huge and played very well last season. With that being said, I am very optimistic about this position because of the ability to rotate fresh guys in and out. The starters should be Alex Lincoln (6-2 277) and Austin Orr (6-4 282). Lincoln will be the stud of this group. He is strong against the run and able to put on a pass rush from the DT spot which is huge in a passing oriented league. Orr is a solid player with pretty good size too. Mix in Sid Moore (6-1 262), who Mac is VERY HIGH ON, and Dutton Watson (6-3 283) and we have some backups who are formidable. The wild cards at DT are TJ Tauaalo (6-2 298) and Sir Calvin (6-2 300). If either of them can show up in the fall we should be fine at DT. One thing I have wondered is why they don't move Wylie Rheinhart to DT? He has the size and tenacity to help us out there. *I added 10 lbs to each players weight as this is what i expect summer workouts will do.
  5. Dajon is the most athletic of the group and he has the best arm as well. Its 100% his job to lose. I think Greer looks great and will challenge him until the end, but I still expect DW to start in Austin week 1. Either way, the QB position will be a HUGE upgrade from last season IMO. DT was a great bus driver, but unless your Alabama, a bus driver can only get you so far. For the Mean Green to take that next step and constantly compete with the big programs (a la Boise St 5 years ago) than a stud QB is a necessity. It's very important that Greer be ready if DW wins the job. I could see a situation where DW goes down for a few games because of the amount of read zone we would run and his lean build.
  6. I thought Coach Canales had one of his better games yesterday. Although we didn't rack up a ton of yards, he made some awesome calls to get the offense going on a day where we couldn't run the ball at all with our RBs. We struggled big time in the first half to get anything going. I was really worried going into half time since our offense is very reliant on running the rock. He got the running game going by getting Brelan and Carlos involved on some reverses. The call he made where Thompson and Brelan ran the option to the right and then did a reverse pitch to Harris was genius. Everyone in the stadium thought the ball was going to be pitched to Brelan after he motioned in the backfield. I also loved the goal line throwback. Its been a while since that play was used and I doubt UNLV saw it on film. I hope we can keep Coach Canales around. The players really enjoy playing for him and he definitely has the swag to be a head coach someday. Hopefully he's next in line in 5 years at UNT after Coach McCarney retires post 5 straight bowl wins.
  7. We showed out big time today! Imagine if we played a big 10 team (like HOD previous years) and they brought 15k or so. We would have been looking at 55k plus. HUGE TURNOUT FOR MEAN GREEN NATION!
  8. Dajon Williams is the real deal. When it's all said and done he will go down as one of the best the Mean Green have ever seen. I think it's smart to bring on Greer, but he is a long shot to start if Dajon is healthy and ready to go this spring. Competition is always good...i expect it to between the two and maybe Bergland if he can get the reps. Anyone know the type of QB Greer is? Pocket passer? Dual threat?

  12. Impressive: #6 Hilbert Jackson. This kid is always around the ball and making plays. Besides Lee he is the hardest hitter we have in the secondary. Great size for the position as well. #18 Jamall Marshall. WOW this kid has some serious potential. If he can put on 10-15 lbs by the fall we will have a real player....probably the most potential on the team. #44 Aaron Bellazin. Besides Orr, he is by far our best player on D. He is going to have a huge season. #70 Sir Calvin. He is really starting to shine...he has long arms and looks like a D1 DT. We really need him to step up so we can have a solid 4 man rotation at DT. I wish I could say a QB was impressive, but I am just not impressed with either DT or Mac. Both these guys look like average high school players...not D1 QBs. DT cant get any velocity on his throws and rarely throws a tight spiral...com'n man. Brock needs to step up because its evident he has the most talent but the dude just cant seem to get on the field.
  13. Does anyone know/have any pics of spring ball this year?
  14. Is Malik Dilonga or Brad Horton expected to make a big contribution this year? Got to love their size.
  15. It seems the marketing dept has really screwed up signing day thus far.. no audio at noon now this..
  16. Is this free to the public, or do you have to be a premium member? It says it's free but when you go to the link it wants payment info... Thanks.
  17. I think Manu is gonna be a beast as well. I have heard great things about his size and quickness. I havent much about Kirby yet but he does have great size. Brock B. will be the wildcard. I like what Thompson brings to the table in terms of leadership and attitude but his QB play...thats a different story. I have never seen a D1 QB given a position like he has the last few years. Some of the throws he makes are horrific. Slow and low release, bad timing, and ducks all days. The guests I brought to the game last year were absolutely shocked that he was the starting QB.
  18. Optimism is a mans best friend, so here we go. Lets talk about next years offensive line which I think will be one of the best in CUSA and the best UNT has ever had. LT A. Johnson 6-6 315 LG C. Lemon 6-3 320 C M. Y'Barbo 6-2 310 RG L. Anyiam 6-4 300 RT J. Manu 6-5 290 TE C. Loving 6-4 265 That's some serious beef and athletes at all positions. With a solid offensive line and a stable of good RB's I think we will control the line of scrimmage and time of possession. Now all we need is to develop some speed on the outside in addition to Chancellor. This offense has potential to be very, very good next year. What are your thoughts on the O-Line this year??
