  1. This story is really sad to me. Not because of my past affiliation with TCU, but because of Brandon, himself. I'm a Euless Trinity grad and followed his career pretty closely at Trinity. I was bummed when he made an oral commitment to Oklahoma and was then thrilled that he was staying in Texas and going to TCU on signing day. I wish him the best off the field and hope he gets his life together. He was a special athlete in high school and made some big-time plays for the Trojans, which I got to see regularly. I shot this one, myself. Had it not been for the photographer in my way, it would have been an amazing shot.
  2. Has a very Arena League look to me. I'm kind of with 23 -- I like the colors but the arrangement of everything and the way it's all assembled is odd to me.
  3. It's a shirt idea that plays on "Remember the Alamo" and referencing last season's UTSA loss at "The Apogee." I think it's a great shirt idea and I for one, welcome our new ant overlords.
  4. Feel de riddum! Feel de ride! Get on up! It's bobsled time!!!
  5. That's a big point that I haven't heard mention of, yet. (Granted, haven't listened to much sports radio today, but still) As someone that was once a union worker ages ago, you DO have to pay for this sort of thing. And I'm sure the moment some of these kids start getting billed for their union dues, they're going to sit back and go, "Wait . . . I have to PAY for this?" TINSTAAFL
  6. You're right. My wife's family is all-Aggie. And while I love them and totally appreciate a lot of what they have done for us, man, those Aggies are some freakin' weird people. Not to mention, I went to one of their graduations this past year. Man, they have to have added at LEAST an extra 20 minutes because they yell "Whoop" after everything. I mean come on, it's fun the first 1 or 2 times, but I'd like to get out of here and get a seat at Cheddar's or something! Don't get me wrong, I admire their school spirit. But I think they put something in the water down in Bryan/College Station because even the residents (non students/alumni) living down there get VERY defensive and VERY protective of a school that really acts pretty ridiculous to an outsider. And their all-out obsession with the University of Texas is pretty comical. They have major inferiority complexes. They'll likely never play each other in football again, but you'd think they're scheduled to meet next week. But, maybe it's just because I'm an outsider. Maybe I'm not supposed to get it.
  7. I met Babe a few years back when I worked at the Best Buy in Grapevine. If you didn't know who he was, you'd have never known he was a former pro athlete or a local television personality because he's so approachable and down-to-earth. He's an incredibly nice guy and just seems like he'd be extremely fun to sit down and talk with over a few drinks.
  8. Incredible season. He did a lot to quiet his critics today. He did exactly what the game asked him to do, and did it in a VERY gutsy manner!
  9. Any way to up the number of "+1" votes allowed today? 'Cuz I'm in a really good mood and want to hand out some positive vibes today!!!!!! Not to mention, there's a lot of good things that we are going to be saying on here tonight!
  10. Repping the Mean Green in Bedford with my shirt, hat and coffee mug!!! I know, I know . . . Yes, I'm in the Metroplex and should be at the game, but I was scheduled to work today with no way out of it. (holiday pay is a nice consolation, though) However, I will be streaming the game live while I work!!!
  11. It should be noted that North Texas isn't "there because major conferences couldn't fill all of their bowl slots." North Texas is there because of conference affiliation. But having said that, great write-up!
  12. Oh yyyyyeeeahhhh!!! Stevie likey.
  13. I think you're on the right path, man. The Mrs. Franchise is a family member in a long line of A&M grads and I'm attempting to be the first in my lineage to graduate from a four year college, so naturally the Mrs. and I have talked a bit about our children (7 y/o an 2 y/o right now) and their educations. Of course, she's bent on them going to A&M, although I'm more thinking along your lines, Jesse. While I'd love to see both of my children go to UNT like the old man, I understand they may have completely different passions and career goals than I do. I feel more that as long as they talk it out with both of us parents and make decisions that we all believe will be of the best benefit for each of them, respectively, then they're going to do well. Shoot, college may not even be what they need. I mean, they could get an opportunity at a major company right out of high school for all I know. Having said that, they're both left-handed and pretty active so I could totally see my daughter golfing on scholarship somewhere with a great women's golf program (*cough*GoMeanGreen*cough*) and my son as a speedy left fielder on scholarship at a powerhouse baseball school (*cough*UNTin17years*cough*) but maybe that's just me. *ishouldreallydosomethingaboutthatcough*
  14. You assume that all those SMU and TCU fans would be there to "support" us. Just sayin' -- if I show up at Gerald J. Ford Stay-jum . . . I'm not there to root for the Ponies.
  15. Sorry, but "all green" just looks bad with our particular shade of green. It's too much. It reminds me of Oregon's all-yellow uniforms. I'm glad it's a look we never wore this season. Don't get me wrong, I like our shade of green. But It just "burns" too much when it's on the jerseys and the pants at the same time. Put that green jersey with some black pants though, and I think it'd look pretty sweet. I'm also a fan of our all-black unis. Those are pretty sweet -- especially in person.
  16. I'll just say this -- I was in a class with an athlete last semester. While attendance wasn't "mandatory," there were deductions to the overall grade if you missed too many times. There were a few days where this athlete was not in class, yet his signature was still somehow on the sign-in sheet used to take roll.
  17. As an RTVF major, I can say, "This guy's a straight shooter with RTVF upper management written all over him."
  18. So Delany is basically like a physical trainer looking at this little wimpy guy saying, "Look, dood . . . the key to having awesome abs and biceps is watching ME do lots of sit-ups, crunches and bicep curls. Cuz, like, if your physical trainer isn't all buff, then you can't get buff, amiright, li'l' dood?" Or better yet, like a financial adviser telling his broke client, "The key to wealth is watching me get filthy rich. Because you can't trust a broke financial adviser, right?" <---------- I picture the late, great Phil Hartman when I recite this in my head. He's a douche. Delany, not Phil Hartman.
  19. This makes me really, really happy.
  20. #7 looks like the Santa from "A Christmas Story." #8 looks like Mike Rhyner I'm pretty sure #14 ate the kid afterwards . . . and burped up the mask for #9. I'm now officially scared. I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep for a while now.
  21. Glad to see Jason Garrett frequents the boards . . . I keed, I keed.
  22. Oh I hear you. While I'm certainly in the "not happy" camp, I also understand the decision. My grief has more to do with asking the students for 8 AM classes to make up their exam at 6:30 PM. For people like me that actually already work in our field of study, this is not feasible. But instead of cursing out the school publicly on a message board, I'm getting on the e-mail system and the telephone and staying in contact with my professors.
