  1. Ah, gotcha. Sorry for the poor interpretation.
  2. So does UT, so does Tech, so does LSU, so does USC...a great music program has nothing to do with a lack of athletics. The CoM is underfunded too compared to the programs I listed above.
  3. Where is Jimmerson?! I don't understand why we haven't gotten him the ball yet....
  4. Man, I couldn't agree more. We were in section 120, row 3 and the students behind us and some alumni in front of us were not only crossing the line, but were just plain wrong. They were incredibly ignorant to the game and couldn't be more distant from an acceptable understanding of football. It was pretty sad... I spent a lot of time heckling (especially in the basketball band) and I always made sure to never cross the line. I just don't understand where the ridiculousness comes from.
  5. I can't wait for this one. I had to work all day last Saturday and had to give my season tickets away for that game. I'm really excited to sit in those new "Young Alumni" seats and the rain certainly won't stop me...
  6. This was an incredibly powerful image IMHO:
  7. They're sooooo underachieving: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/681190-college-football-2011-ohio-state-and-the-25-best-damn-bands-in-the-land/page/26
  8. Section 5, Row 12. 11 of us so far (all recent grads). We ordered through the HOD site because we all was ted to sit together. If it's in the wrong section then at least we won't be alone...
  9. The line was -19
  10. Elder Benford is working for the other team in this one...
  11. Nick did this as well at Fouts, though with new restrictions in time allowed and space at Appogee, it's not the same as when you marched.
  12. Forgot to add as well that as a music education major (the vast majority of the band) learning techniques for Corps style marching is highly beneficial to your career. The best high school programs in the country march Corps style and being an alumni of the GB makes you look very hireable in an interview for a high school BD gig.
  13. Silver.... The "style" you refer to of the GB is "Corps" style. Check DCI.org for a better idea of what the GB is going for. Dr. Williams is the director of the GB you refer to and his response to Rick is spot on. The students in the GB make a huge time commitment in order to play more difficult music (better than most, btw) and march substantially more difficult drill (also better than most) than the large majority of college marching bands. Oh, and they only get 1 credit hour for the six hours/week they rehearse. The idea is that it is substantially more important to put on a great half time show than to walk on the field in a certain way... Comparing us to Michigan in band terms (and Michigan is AWESOME at what they do) would be like comparing a 72 Stingray to a brand new C7 Corvette. Both are gorgeous and have incredibly appealing aspects that may fill the holes of the other.
  14. Costs less too :-/
  15. Well said ^^^
  16. I was really surprised by how good the food was too... Awesome burger. Thanks again for setting this up. Does anyone have the pic that was taken?
  17. Just showed up with a friend of mine. Cool place!
  18. indoor tailgating anyone?
  19. The director of the Green Brigade does this consistently. He makes you take off or turn inside out any shirt that is from another college. Glad to see more of this.
  20. I would be so in for this, it's not even funny.
  21. Lol...has nothing to do with the physical papers. Getting students to fill them out/turn them in would be the issue.
  22. Excuse you. I am at every home game, 6 hours ahead of time and I do not leave until the band does. I support the team more than most and am a proud member of the alumni assoc. You have no idea what you are talking about. Also, the majority of high school band students do not want to major in music, so your argument there is invalid. It is not a recruiting tool for the UNT C.O.M. The fact of the matter there is that my want to support my alma mater is outweighed by the lack of educational value for my students. It would be much more beneficial to take them to a concert than have them play boring music at a football game. They do not recruit for music and if they did, marching band is not the best, or even a good, way to get a look at a potential musician. It's not about me "not supporting my alma mater;" it's about putting what is best for my students first.
