  1. Yeah, the Shipley situation helps, but the Brown/Gray show still has the potential to be a heck of a show, especially with our unproven new defense. I think we all understand how a good running game can really pound & wear out a defense, just like we've been doing to others for a few years. I sure hope we have what it takes to keep them in check.
  2. AGREED. I'm in the Austin area & am anxious for the UT game! It would be nice to see Mac's UNT W/L record steadily improve. Love the guy & can't wait to see what's in store for the future.
  3. I just don't see it as a "backhanded" article & title when they're just quoting the coach. The media is always going to use headlines that grab attention, and that does it. It's not necessarily the DMN's opinion. I definitely agree with retiring the "woe was me" routine.
  4. That's a quote from Coach Mac in the article. He's made that statement more than once. Eventually he will have to stop making statements like that for us to not be perceived that way. It's all about perception, and having your coach make those statements puts that bug in peoples' ears. Positive talk = positive perception. Of course, winning helps too.
  5. I don't see how they could make the HOD uni a road uni. But I'm willing to see the try. AGREED. Set the tone for the season.
  6. Did this really happen?
  7. If this is all his decision, I just don't understand....
  8. On a side note: a couple of local radio talk show hosts here in Austin were talking UT football recently & they mentioned their first game of the season - against North Texas State. UGH! I don't think there was any disrespect meant. One of them is an old-schooler & is probably used to that name. They did mention that UNT had a better record last year than UT though.
  9. I believe it was August 2011
  10. I think the current unis were released around early August time frame. Not sure if the helmets were released before that. If they're changing them, we should hear something anytime.
  11. It looks pretty cool, but I'd rather have the whole SOW on the helmet. Kind of hard to tell what it is if you don't know the SOW.
  12. They do the TEXAS - FIGHT at UT home games, back & forth. Anyone know who came up with this first? I like doing the NORTH-TEXAS when I'm at a UNT game (which is rare, unfortunately, since I live in the Austin area), but I sometimes feel like we've copied it from UT, just like the "I bleed Green" slogan we now have on shirts.
  13. TOTALLY AGREE. Tons of other programs out there lose starters every year & seem to bounce back with the next group. I think this is a testament to what people believe Coach Mac is doing here - building it the right way & hopefully having continued success.
  14. No uniform change/update would be a bummer. After the black unis from last season, you would think they would roll with some kind of an addition of black into the unis for this year, especially after hearing all the positive feedback. And, especially since black appears to be used in pretty much all other UNT sports uniforms. I do hope the helmets are green with a white SOW, maybe a little smaller or something. Overall, I loved the green helmet from last year with the black SOW. And along with the unis, how about adding some color to the football stadium? It looks pretty bare to me, so how about some additonal green stuff around the stadium, such as the SOW at various places. It looks like they're trying to keep it as some type of a general venue stadium, for other sports venues or something. Let's be aggressive & advertise UNT & be proud of the Mean GREEN!
  15. AGREE TOTALLY. Like you & MGNation92 said, let's expand it & get a little creative. No where near Oregon creative, but more than what we have.
  16. Wow, that's pretty critical of an opinion. I'm ok with the simple uniforms. I actually even like the color of the green, which a lot of people don't. I would just like a change for the helmets. Whatever happens, I'll always support UNT. Believe me, my family & friends get an earful about UNT,especially during football season!
  17. I agree. I should clarify that my issues are with our helmets more than with the uniforms. I like the uniforms ok, but the helmets are terrible.
  18. Like they said, we don't have the well-established traditions/winning those schools have. They can get away with it; I don't think we can pull it off. When you win & have those traditions, the uniforms are a little easier to stomach. Just my opinion.
  19. Me too, brother. I know a lot of people don't like the uniform threads, but It's cool that UNT might finally have a non-minor league look for TV. Image & perception is a big deal these days. I think it's become more evident after this season, after the positive response of the uni's for the Rice game & the bowl game.
  20. I live in Round Rock & have had quite a few UT grads & fans approach me, while wearing my Mean Green attire, that they are really concerned about the UNT game. I'm sure it's not the case for everyone, but I'm sure UNT's season was a huge boost in the arm regarding respect. It's critical that they follow up with another very successful season to really get people noticing. Do I think UNT will beat UT? No, but I think it has the potential to be another Georgia-like game, possibly even without the late runaway. If UT gets the QB transfer from USC & he catches on quick, it might be a real tough game.
  21. Are we talking permanent new helmet with SOW, or just another special occasion thing? Hopefully permanent....
