  1. The big plays were there to be made. We had WRs open most of the game. I guess that's a plus from previous years. We could not hit them. Especially the paterns where we could hit them in stride. I wish I could chalk this up to morris just being off and his first game, but I have doubts. This type of offense is designed to know where you are going before the ball is even snapped. You have about 2.5 seconds to get rid of the ball. Morris needs lots of work. At least fine showed he knew how to run the offense. It's about getting rid of the ball quickly. I think we could have possibly put up 28 had fine worked with the ones most of the offseason. And we are going to need a mobile QB. We would be a better running team with Fine too.
  2. i have no problem with the opinion or coverage. I have a problem with the method. Ranking players without looking at game film is the problem. I don't care who the players is. There are obvious statements that exposes very little game film was considered. And if a person doesn't have the time to look at film, then go ask someone for input that knows more. If a person looked at film and said Chad played horrible, I wouldn't have any problems with that. Is there an issue with the critics being criticized and the analysts being analyzed? They offered their opinions...I can't offer mine? Difference is, I have given game highlights and not Spring and Fall camp reports. Seems like a few don't like what i have done, but like i said before, some fans have been educated and know more about a player on the team. Someone else should have been doing this, but since it hasn't been done, i decided to take matters into my own hands. sorry if you or anyone else is offended. Put bad or incomplete info out there, expect to get called out and others to do the same.
  3. tee hee hee...you so funny... don't like talking football huh? I get it. there's lots of stuff out there you may be interested in other than sports...
  4. those players rarely read this stuff. i would be a hypocrite to complain about criticism. I am a critic and will continue to be one. I have criticized Chad and others on here. I have no problems going back and forth with anyone. You still dont understand. I am criticizing the method. If film and gameplay was used to come up with the opinion I wouldn't have a problem. Billysee said stuff about Chad his soph year. It was based on live game watching or either HS or Soph film. it was accurate too. I ripped on Chad when he gave up the quick slant TD vs Rice. I am quite certain some people did not know he even made plays and had a decent year until this thread and looking at the highlights. I accomplished what i wanted. if some think he sucks, at least it is based on something that makes football sense.
  5. tee hee hee
  6. Fellas. I am a critic. I LOVE criticism. My issue is WHAT IS THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR ANALYSIS!!!!! I'm not caring about the opinion here. THERES A FLAW ON WHAT THE OPINION IS BASED ON. I'm looking at replays of games, and i think I'm the one that's crazy. I have a problem with the method. Boys on here talking bout practice...we not talking bout games...we talking bout practice... Let's just put it like this. No matter what is said, Chad is in the lineup, so you think my feelings are hurt? All the guys I follow have played and got a shot. Apparently the coaches think very highly of him and think he is good. Boy didn't go through Fall camp and he is starting SMU. With a messed up knee. Doesn't that speak for itself? The fans deserve to know. I brought knowledge. Form your own opinion. And to be truthful I didnt watch much of the games either. I thought his season was whack too...until I watched replays and highlights...but I also wasnt out there feeding fans info either.
  7. Chad's accomplishments were minimized. There was also a discussion in a post. Pretty much said he didn't give up much, but it had nothing to do with his talent, it was due to us having Whit and a freshman corner getting picked on. The same freshman corner that is all of a sudden considered better and a lock at his corner but chad isnt? Make up your mind. To add to this nonsense, teams are all of a sudden going to forget about picking on nate? Or do you think they will listen to the UNT analysts and say, I heard he had a nice Spring and fall camp... Explain that logic and analysis. A spring and fall camp vs UNT 2nd team carries more weight than what actually happened in real football? So the weak player that prevented Chad from getting passes is all of a sudden all world without playing real football. Another reason you just put above, Chad hasn't made a ton of plays...Who has? Highlights show at least 3 big plays. Add some PBUs in the redzone...TFLs, sack...not understanding what you mean. Especially compared to the rest of the team. I wish all 11 made the plays he made. Have you actually watched film? While sober? So let's also apply the same logic that gives nate a pass to when Chad was thrown in the fire at corner. He didn't start, but he was thrown out there on passing downs. Did he get beat? Chad didn't get the man crush nate is getting now. They knew Chad was out there. They threw at James Jones and Buyers. Chad didn't get any props from the "analysts" And he played his soph season on a torn up knee. Injuries did not hold chad back. He hasn't missed a game due to injury. He got medicated and sucked it up. Still one of the fastest on the field. And guess what? Still didn't get burnt as much. Injuries only held him back from some sad spring and fall analysis. Challenged and hung on to his spot? Bwahhh...he got it back immediately both times as soon as he could lace them up...it was never gone. Just bad info. Hasn't drawn attention from NFL scouts? AAAAAHHHHH. Who has? Exhibit A...Bad analysis. See above.
  8. Once again. It's bad analysis. Not negative or hurtful comments. Not criticism. Even though I would prefer criticism because at least a reason may be stated. Example: Feb vito had his rankings of top 25 unt players. Davis came in at 17. Not a comment, but it says a lot. From a 1-11 team, he's the 17th best player? If we have 16 players that do their job as good as Chad did his in 2015, we would go bowling without a doubt. Even if all 16 are AVERAGE. Nate was at 18. Vito reranked them in may, Davis rose to 12. I guess he had time to watch film. Oh, Nate rose to 8. Cant be film then...must be going off Spring? So nate was crowned the top corner by Vito...and vito has actually wrote it a few times. And some people bought it by some of the comments. Ok, cool. You think nate is going to have a big year. No need to hate. Both will benefit. It didn't end. When the JUCOs are discussed, chad's spot has been mentioned a few times. And that was before his injury was known. Somebody on the podcast said he would get phased out and I think aztec, to sum it up was like chad davis...meh...replaceable I'm not caring about opinions. I just had to be responsible and give people better information and let them see for themselves. If that video shows our 17th or even 12th best player and our second best cornerback, and our 3rd best man to man cover, then we are in for a HUGE season. Yeah Chad davis hung on to his spot...
  9. Well, when someone says a guy that has never played a down of D1 football is coming to take your spot, that's a blatant diss in the sports world. It says a lot. Mainly that you were a weak link, you did not do your job, and for a 1-11 team, you don't belong on a D1 football field. I guess yall don't read vito or listen to the podcasts, or read the other mean green stuff... And let's not pretend Vito didn't have a bunch of fans thinking jamal marshall was going to be the next Richard sherman on here. And now peole are expecting nate to be all cusa.
  10. Who said talking trash? The op states bad analysis. The sad part is, trash talking on a forum would be much better than bad analysis by a so called unt football analyst that comes off as if they know football and watched film. One could say, who cares about someone's opinion and predictions? Well for a program like UNT, there's not much out there. There are several publications that depend on Vito for their UNT info and that is scary. Who knows what else may come up in google. A Web page, a podcast... No one really cares about the fans and posters that have been misled. Thats not as big a deal.
  11. My criticism is kinda what you pointed out last year. I would like to see better ball skills. He was in position a few times for an easy INT, but he was too worried about the man and pushing him out of the way, and drew 2 unessesary flags. He already had position, no need for the extra push. Trust your skills and go get the ball.
  12. The run support used to be a weakness coming out of high school in my opinion. That is why he didn't get on the field earlier as a freshman and why he only came in on 3rd downs as a soph. I guess he got something out of playing in that defensive scheme. If he ever gets a chance on the next level, the work in the run game will have paid off.
  13. Not smack talk, but some subtle disrespect. He's been rumored to have his spot taken 3 times and whoever is responsible for the analysis on mg nation, they are horrible. I let the weak madden numbers slide last year. Especially the speed of Davis and marshall, but how in the world can davis have the lowest man to man coverage out of the whole secondary, when everyone else was beaten more? I'm not understanding that logic. The player that did his job and looked like a solid D1 player is the one that doesnt get props, but others that played below average D1 ball gets the assumption they will improve. Based on the years of football I have seen, players rarely go from below average to good. I don't care what the circumstances are. Many expect Nate to show up in 2016 and play shut down corner, and that is irresponsible, not fair, and shows a horrible football IQ. I think nate is going to get drafted and I consider that one of the best compliments a player can get. But nate, due to being thrown in the fire, was a below average D1 corner last season. His next step is to become a solid D1 starter that does not get picked on. I predict an averge season. Next year good, senior year all conference. Davis should go from average to good. If the team wins and the defense plays well, he could sneak in an honorable mention spot. He should get more chances with the new defense and an improved nate on the other side.
  14. OK, Enough is enough. Too many questionable comments and bad info being put out there by mean green "analysts" Seems like he needs to be introduced to some of the fans who claim they follow UNT football. Part of it may have to do with having such a bad season people tune out, but it doesn't take much football knowledge or effort if you try. Well, I take that back...maybe it does take football knowledge to know what to look for. Some of it may laziness andreading other bad info and analysis. I have decided to help some people out. Anyway, Chad Davis was considered one of the top man to man corners in the Greater Houston area and on several state lists. He had lots of interest from schools all over the nation. He came to UNT in 2013. He was also an all state track and field in TEXAS 5A. He led is 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 to state his senior year and was one of the top 400 runners in the state. His freshman year he mainly played special teams as a gunner - BECAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE FASTEST PLAYERS ON THE TEAM!!! along with Jamal Marshall and Zed Evans. His sophomore year, some may not know it, but he played every game as the nickel back and came in on third downs. While he came in on the nickel package, he was put at corner to replace Kenny Buyers on passing downs. Kenny was moved to nickel. Even though he was inexperienced, teams did not pick on him and decided to throw to other areas where there were more experienced players. He was injured early in the season and played on a ripped up knee the remainder of the season. That knee did not get fixed until right before Spring when he "battled" Jamal Marshal for a starting corner spot. His Junior season, he started his first game against SMU. Not only did he not get beat, he gave up only 2 catches for 4 yards, a sack, and a PBU that was almost picked. Much of the 2015 Junior season was similar. He was rarely beaten all year and gave up less than 100-120 yards receiving all season. You can make excuses and weak analysis or give the man his props. But don't take people's word for it like some must have been doing on here...see for yourself. I have given you the knowledge. there is no excuse for lazy analysis and ignorance. Trust me, he still has work to do, but if we compare him to other UNT starters, even average should be given much more respect on here. I wonder where this guy got his info. http://collegefootballnews.com/2016/top-10-north-texas-football-players 2015 Highlights.
  15. Lots of freshmen on the 2 deep 14. 11 Soph...Not much size either. Starting two freshmen WRs. Still looks like a major rebuild. If UNT loses this game, they won't win more than 3 games.
  16. My post was not a shot at you. It was for the predictors who continue to throw stuff out there so they can finally say, I called that! I follow college players from the West Houston area.
  17. I remember last year when Davis was "battling" Jamal Marshall for his corner spot. Jamal was in there for the Spring cause Davis wasn't available. He was hurt. Jamal barely even played. And wasn't close to playing corner. No different this year...Really think a coach is going to sit his fastest cover corner that has 2 years experience going against D1 players and players who are on NFL rosters. One who barely gets beat for a true freshman? Especially in a defense that will man up and blitz? Cause the true freshman had a nice Fall camp against UNT 2nd team? If a true freshman is starting at corner, there are no other options. Even as good as some think Brooks is, and I considered him an above average freshman, he got beat and wasn't ready. And Moore hasn't proved he has Nate Brooks ability. If Moore starts, Davis is hurt, suspended, or UNT has went with a youth movement and given up. I hope Moore gets some reps but Jenkins is the next man up.
  18. I have been critical of Fred Scott on here, mainly due to his speed in pass coverage. Not his fault because the past coaches put him in position to be exposed. Now since we are running nickel, I highly doubt Fred Scott will be down field in pass coverage or matched up against speedy players. I assume Scott will be able to concentrate on stopping the run this year and he was pretty good in that area. He is very strong and once he sizes you up, a good lick is coming. I think he will have a solid year.
  19. Well, since some on here have jenkins battling and beating Chad Davis for his spot, I guess this guy is coming after Nate's spot...
  20. The times I have seen air raid type offenses slowed down was with press, in your face, man to man coverage. Air raid offense was never designed for the line to be able to block for a long period of time. It's only 5 of them. The ball is supposed to be out quick. If the QB is getting sacked, then he is hesitating and making the wrong reads if he is running air raid. A bigger issue is the WRs route running and gettng seperation. He wont have time to wait for someone to get open...even if he had a good line.
  21. And some are putting a whole lot of stock into what is happening in Fall camp vs what has actually happened on a D1 football field against real competition. Having success in Fall camp is great and shows if certain things were learned or improved on, but let's not get carried away over what the first team is doing to the UNT second/scout team. I would be completely shocked if Fall camp held more weight over actual game experience...but you never know. I've been shocked about UNT before.
  22. Uh oh...Chad davis may as well transfer now...cause his starting job is on the line with Jenkins coming in...D1 college experience means nothing. nate brooks is having a solid fall camp, and they burned last year's game film, so he's a lock at the other corner.
  23. I can agree with some of this. I'm still don't see any evidence that it will be preston though, unless it's based on practice. I would give a juco just as good of a shot as I would preston. If we have any seniors who are playing average and the season is starting to go down the drain, then the young players should get in and prepare for the following season. It's up to the seniors to make sure the team has something to play for.
  24. Higher on preston based on what play? Must be practice. Cant be spring game, scrimmages or actual games. Preston was first off the bench SMU. Brooks started taking the reps and looked better. Preston did not even play much. Nice tackles? I guess forcing a fumbe vs iowa and picking off tenn in the red zone doesn't ring a bell...Several PBUs in the endzone. They're on all the highlights...Davis has a lot to work on, but the analysis is not even close as far as corner. Nate was nice as a freshman. I think he will be the next UNT player drafted. He could possibly become the best corner on the team this year...but he was no where close to being more productive than Davis, and preston was even farther. Davis had issues but in 11 games, playing the whole game he gave up less than 100 total yards all season and probably less than 10 passes. Gave up a 7 yard slant for a TD vs rice. Gave up 2 yard out for a TD vs MTSU. Only thing memorable. Nothing deep at all. Too much contact on some PIs, didn't get off wrs blocks on some plays, didn't jump some routes, but also forced to play and practice 10 yards off most of the season.
  25. Mistake on the DBs. Ashton Preston only started one game when Davis was suspended for a "bad attitude" Davis played almost every snap at corner on defense other than WKU. He made 3 of the few big plays that were made last season. Not sure how this season will play out, but anyone who knows dbs and paid attention...nevermind...
