I had the "could have been 3-0" moment for a minute but realized we had to take one step back to take 2 steps forward. big adjustments were made that contributed to the comeback. We had to fail on the field before those adjustments were made. Even though we did good in game 1 with an open offense, we went conservative in game 2. Losing game 2 the way we did helped us get this win. We made adjustments to the kicking game. We went in at the half and changed our coverage and personell to a tighter man to man defense. We pretty much said wr are tired of losing the same way again. This was a huge win. Not just the w, but the way we achieved it.

We have people going back pulling up old threads like they predicted a better outcome. Its easy to sit and wait for something good to happen, but if you did not predict it ahead of time, you cant call someone out. At the time this thread was started, canales had called a very predictable game at Ohio. Some of the same stuff from previous years. He called a great game today. Big props to him. They made several adjustments and did a lot of NEW things. Had he called the game the same way he did in the past, it would have been a loss.

DT showed that he is capable of running an offense that is not so predictable. We will face better defenses, and windy conditions that will affect his game, but there is no need to go back to that fearful way of calling plays. DT has shown that if you put 8 in the box or dare him to beat you, he can do it.

Im just not impressed with rice like everyone else. They looked ok. Thats about it.

The corners played 5 yards off the wrs instead of 10. Whitfield replaced Jackson. Coverage was a lot tighter. Even the ones they completed hsd tighter coverage. They completed.a long one off s fluky bounce. Only big play in the second half. Seems like the coaches finally had TRUST in the team's ability to try something different and be aggressive.

Put in Jones at corner. We just need a few stops.

Buyers has played decent. Time to make another hard decision at the other corner. Put in James Jones at corner. Jackson is good at stopping the run, but we need speed and coverage.

The running game has to get going, if we are going to win. It has been mentioned a few times in the loss, but not nearly as much as the secondary and DT. In my opinion, they did the worst out of any unit and did not bring much. The secondary gave up big plays, but they also made big plays and it evened out. DT made mistakes, but he is who he is and at least he made some plays and we tied it up. The running game is supposed to be our strength and they performed below average. We're supposed to be a run first team.MI'm just throwing stuff out there...do we have too many backs in the rotation now? I think we need to pick 2 that get the majority of the carries. I have never ran the ball, but I have heard rbs want carries and like to get in a rythm. Does the crowded backfield create a situation where the backs are trying to make the big play with the limited carries they will get? Instead of being satisfied with a tough 5 yards, they want big plays. If we are going to be a run first team. We also need a fast change of pace back. One that can get to the hole quick and can take it to the house. Seems like we have 3 very similar backs. Hopefully we go out there and get those 5 tough yards and open things up in the passing game.

Fixed it for you. Players make plays. CB was in position, and the pick should have been made. It could have set the tone for the rest of the game.

Biggest issue will be wr. Qb, rb, te will not be a big deal to replace.

You have to give DT the chance to win that game once we came back. We cant lose the same way again though. If DT struggles again, we need to see Dajon or BB. Sad part is, we may not see BB until Georgia. Kinda messed up, but that may be his only shot. DT will probably struggle, and we will need a moblie QB. They may be scared to put Dajon out there. Roll BB out there and say see, we gave you a shot.

Chico is not great, but look at who he is working with. What is DTs strength as a QB? What plays would you call based on DTs skills? DT is supposed to be a smart QB, but I hear about him locking on to WRs. So smart isnt really a strong attribute either. Smart in the film room, or the smartest we have on the team, but in the game? I havent seen it translate. And being smart does not matter if you dont have the physical skills to pull it off. Play action maybe? Gotta establish a running game, have to have a good fake, and you cant be slow or they can still get to you.

DT went 19/29 195 TDs 2ints...I doubt Dajon would do worse. I would actually accept those stats from a true freshman. Not a senior. This is a game I expect a smart senior QB to get.

Other than that first big play, the defense looks better than last year. We won't be able to beat a good team on the road. That's ok, because there are enough sorry teams on our schedule. Im chalking up Tulane and so miss as wins. Ohio has a decent QB, and we did a pretty good job. Not too many more teams on our schedule have a better offense and QB. Two big plays hurt us. The first play and the pick 6.

This was very good. Hopefully the word got out for recruits to watch this. Well done. I was surprised about the interviews abou DT. It made it more reality TV like though and was not all fake and pro UNT. Few things I noticed and I hate to nitpick after a good, maybe even great performance. DT does not have a QB swagger or attitude. You dont want him to be a jerk like jonny football, but not a lot of confidence. Very soft spoken. You can tell by some of the comments he was sensitive and worried about comments. Criticism would get to most people in life, but as a QB, it goes with the position. I didnt like him acknowledging it, and if you are going to comment, be more aggresive. I can see how he could have trouble with confidence. Another thing is his body. It looked bad. He needed to put on a shirt. I still think he can play good enough ball for us to have a successful season, but I cant wait till next year, when Dajon gets in there and this team has a QB that gives this team that extra edge and attitude.

Idaho was not a good team, but there is reason to be excited, just looking at it from the way unt played. Especially falling behind, and then giving up the onside kick. They keyed on the run. Especially with jimmerson in there. Last years team and playcalling would have kept running and probably barely won at the end. This years team just looks better than last years. And it could have been a lot worse than 40-6. Lots of backups played.

Idaho was a sorry team, but they had a couple of small quick, fast wrs. Ohio wrs may not be as fast...but im still worried too. I feel better when Jones is in the game. If we run a lot of nickel, I think he gets a pick. Thier qb is an improvisor and playmaker, but not a super accurate pocket passer. Those injuries on the line will have him scrambling.

No need to be scared. Dajon will be able to lead this team by the end of the season. All he needs is some experience. I would rather he is brought along slowly, but if he had to be thrown in the fire, he would be no worse than DT last year. He has the composure and that is something you can't teach.

I'm worried about our starting corners. Another game like that against a better team could be trouble, but James Jones is nice to have on the bench. Too bad it may take a big play to the house for him to get in. the corners are going to have to play that post a lot better, if our safeties are going to be playing up.

Onside kick.

The Idaho qb had a very good play action fake. That was his best attribute. Once we got the 2 score lead and there were no reason to bite on it, it was over. He wasnt going to throw anywhere a safety was roaming. We were willing to give up those runs. Our corners still had trouble when they were singled out in one on one coverage. Jackson is probably a safety that is forced to play corner. The quickness and the speed is not there. I noticed buyers and James Jones played a lot. Maybe just as much as the 1s and there was no drop off. I actually liked them out there better. Im sure our secondary will be tested a lot more this week.

I liked the playcalling and I was very surprised with the different sets, creativity, and aggressiveness. I doubt any of us would have predicted this. I liked DTs performance and wondered if the playcalling held him back last year. We were the aggressor yesterday, so I still wonder how we will look against even an average defense. After seen dajon, it was the highlight of my day and had me looking forward to the rest of the season. Im sure he has more to learn as far as reading defenses, but I have no doubts if he has to step in. he should be solid at #2 and get most of the backup reps. The offense looks like it has been opened up. They could do even more with dajon in there. Im not caring about him being a true freshman, from what I saw, with a few more weeks of experience, we should feel confident that if he had to play, we could beat a team with comparable talent.

The rumor is something for the Halloween game, but don't hold me to it. Not from an official source. Maybe black involved, like black pants or jerseys.
