  1. Nate looks like he was lining up to take away and out route. It was a blown coverage somewhere. You are up 31-7 and the last thing you want to do is give up big plays. If I had to guess, the way Nate played it, he thought he had safety help behind him. Safety has to know a team is down 24 and they will take a shot sooner or later. If Nate knew he was manned up and played it thar way, it is suicide. No way you line up outside like that in man to man with no help inside.
  2. I was thinking the same thing a week ago. I am hearing this too. It might be tight on Jenks.
  3. I just looked at the roster thinking Kishawn would pick up weight to play strong safety, but he dropped down to 187? I guess he's looking at free safety. Maybe he should try to return to increase his stock if he's gonna drop down that low.
  4. I'm with you this one MGTX. The other examples had a high reward. Ok, some may say, how will we know what the rewards are if we don't try. Kishawn probably hasn't returned since high school. He has put on more weight and muscle since then. The WRs and RBs that were mentioned played positions where they were used to carrying the ball, following blocks and stopping and starting, juking and cutting. I'm not saying it's impossible, but muscle memory is important and shouldn't be taken for granted. I don't think it's some thing you can just jump into. Yes, I know there are lots of DBs that return, but a lot of them have had lots of reps and practice at it. I'm more worried about something popping versus a contact injury. I would think one major reason kishawn is even considering it is to raise his draft stock.
  5. And for the record, no one said blatantly cheat to get ahead. FAU is picking up some guys with questionable character, but that's not against NCAA rules. Some may have previously broken rules or laws and it may turn out to be a waste of time, but nothing Kiffin has had reported so far will get sanctions...but it could get some wins though...and if it does, it will be a story about how he straightened those players out.
  6. And Baylor is still getting recruits and they are still going to win games. Not top 10, but they could hang around the top 20 soon. Unless there is a death penalty, schools usually rebound from those weak sanctions. Recruits are going to have something to remember. Those 3 good years...then the NCAA came and hated on the school, but now we are back. That sounds a lot better than being clean, but having years and years of incompetence and bad hires as a reason for losing.
  7. Yeah, but what a ride those 3 years will be...while other teams have nothing to show for being good and nice. Would you take 8-4, 9-3, 8-4 right now if it meant you are guaranteed to lose the following 3 years. If I were a UNT fan, I would roll those dice. What do I have to lose?
  8. I could see a Brooks vs Sutton 1 on 1 in the red zone. I just don't see Sutton running one on one 40 yards down the field too often. A few times maybe, but not as a standard defense like last year. The Qb running was a big issue that we won't have this time. And SMU is still going to throw it to Sutton even when he is double covered.
  9. Guys, I doubt we have Sutton man to man. Sure, we plan on playing more man to man this season, but it doesn't mean every single WR for every game. I think Ref is going to come with different looks. Doesn't mean it still won't get beat, but I think Ref is going to try more things instead of sitting and watching the same defense get beat over and over. I think we are going to see Refs defense and realize we had more winnable games last season.
  10. We will get beat no doubt, but we were getting beat last year anyway, so may as well give us a fighting chance with more pressure. A lot of us have been asking for tighter coverage for some years. Thanks Ref. It's easy for us to say let's play more man, let's press, but it takes a lot to pull it off. One main thing is you lose the corners with helping out in stopping the run, but you will hope the extra men in the box can take care of it without help. Another thing is fatigue. The corners are.going to get tired and you have to have quality depth that can cover man to man. All 3 corners are going to get a lot of work. Maybe even a 4th corner depending on how much man and if they press.
  11. I'm surprised so many picked SMU. Beating SMU would do very little for recruiting because they are in a better conference. Beating UTSA would do a lot more as far as recruiting.
  12. In 2015, it was Jamal Marshall that was having a good camp and would get time at corner...Nothing Last year Jamel Moore was getting a lot of run and he didn't play much corner at all last season. So I guess we have Hall now. I will believe it when I see it. Vito is bound to hit sooner or later, but I doubt it is with this one. Jenkins most likely has a nagging injury that is keeping him from practicing. He will need to get out there sooner or late though, because I have heard Littrel and Co is big on practice.
  13. I didn't know Nate was on any watch lists, but it wouldn't surprise me. Nate is listed at 6'0 on the site, but I'm guessing he is closer to what he has posted on his twitter at 6'1. Tall corners are getting a lot of NFL attention and Nate will be a tall corner with 4 years experience. A lot of the tall corners can't move like a traditional corners, but teams will still give them a look. Jamal Marshall got a look with seattle because he was fast and was 6'3. I have seen other tall guys get a look who don't even come close to having the hip movement to play corner. Even though Nate is tall, he still has good hip movement and quickness to play corner. He's also undersized, but plays the run very aggressive and has a good football IQ. He will have 2 years to work on his man coverage and add more weight...and get that horrible defense of lining up 10 yards off the ball completely out of his system.
  14. Gotta get that combine invite. Seems like the early intrest is there.
  15. It wouldn't surprise me if we went with a nickel that can cover at times this year instead of a run stopper. Not saying Preston can't improve, but last season and even the seasons before, our secondary personel was based on who can help out in stopping the run and not attention on coverage. I think we see a lot of different looks from Ref. Lots of man coverage and blitzes. I doubt we sit in the same defense over and over. I still think we will give up big plays against the pass, but we will make a lot more big plays too.
  16. It can happen, but Woods didn't just appear out of nowhere. La Tech has a pretty good run with the NFL lately and Woods was 1st team CUSA 3 years. No one is saying it's impossible. Kishawn is on the Thorpe list so that's a good start. Just my opinion, but he's gonna need that combine invite and perform really well to get a solid shot at getting drafted. I hope the right connections are being made to put him out there like that. It's not Kishawns abilities that I don't have trust in. It's his situation. And with all that Woods and La Tech did, he went 6th round.
  17. I like Jenkins a lot, but the NFL is losing their minds over any corner that is 6 foot or taller. Even if his footwork is terrible, they are willing to work with them if they are tall. Jamal Marshall was in Seahawks camp last year cause he was 6'3... Jenks will get a look, but if we are talking about drafted, then he has to have a HUGE year with his height and weight. I think Jenks best shot is free agent. I follow Kishawn, but unfortunately I think it will be the same case for him too. He has the size, but the position he plays is saftey and that spot is very limited and a lot of those spots go to P5 safeties as far as the draft. G5 corners have a lot more success in the draft and free agency. Kishawn is a stud no doubt, but I don't think he is better than Trice, and Trice didn't get drafted. He's bigger and faster than Trice though...but Trice was on almost every play or very close to it, and I have to assume that is an intangible that they are looking for at safety. Trice was rarely caught in no man's land and had a strong football IQ. This will be Kishawn 2nd year in this defense though, so I'm expecting more game changing plays like Trice had.
  18. This. It's not even close to the level of others schools. Ok, some may say we haven't had the talent and this and that, but I see other schools promote guys who barely played and they get looks. Even if we dismiss the last two years, guys like Akunne and Akunne could have been promoted better. I saw a nice hype video for Zac Orr, and whoever put it together did a nice job, but most schools are doing that kind of thing for almost all the seniors that have aspirations of going pro. I know some will say if you are NFL material, they will find you...and that may be true, but promotion definetly helps. There's guys who barely played that are getting better looks that our guys. Pro Day has to improve. It is trash. I think the best shot is Nate Brooks next year. He will be a 4 year starter that plays at a high level and he is 6'1 corner. He will definetly get some looks.
  19. Not trying to nitpick, but Nate played exclusively at left corner. It's not like he stayed matched up on the teams best wr at all times and followed them. Davis played only right corner. Jenkins is the only one that played a little of both sides. Most of the time there was a safety over the top of Nate since the left side is usually attacked more. Bad thing is all 3 safeties were committed to helping the front guys instead of pass coverage. The defense is not going to work if the front guys can't stop basic run plays and apply pressure. Ref seems to take more risks, im hearing there will most likely be more man to man...maybe...hopefully... even some press coverage. I mean, if we're gonna get beat, at least give the dbs a fighting chance with a blitz and tight coverage. I think we will still get picked apart by good QBs that are protected well, but I think ref is going to come after any inexperienced QBS and teams that don't have a Sutton type WR. I doubt ref leaves Sutton one on one. That is just stupid, horrible coaching. Correction. Not right and left corner...field and boundary corner.
  20. I am looking forward to seeing what ref does with the defense cause I am expecting a lot more pressure and agressive play. I think Jenkins will have a big year because he is a ball hawk and is not scared to jump routes. Nate is a great zone corner but he has to work on his man to man. Really he had good position a lot of times, but just need to get that head turned around. If ref is going to be aggresive, I think there will be a lot more gambling with the safeties. I would hope with the improved DLine, we can get a real ball hawking nickel back that can cover instead of some one that needs to help out in stopping the run.
  21. Make it easier to get in the game. Students are lazy. Get in with a student ID. No need to wait in lines for tickets. Once the stadium starts getting filled and demand increases, then you can start to make students have tickets. Yes, you will have students sneaking friends in, high school students sneaking in, borrowing IDs, etc...but pack the stadium and bring the party inside. Once they get used to going to games, then start regulating.
  22. Wow...WKU and MTSU at 17 and 18...
  23. We can what if and go back and forth, but even after a 9-4 season, some were skeptical about extending McCarney because there were questons as to whether it cold be sustained due to his recruiting. Well, it was shown that his weak recruiting and development caught up with him. Maybe he won because he caught everyone at the right time of eligibility and he had the veteran team, while others were rebuilding... Well now Litrell comes in like McCarney did and did better than the previous coach...now all we have to do is add recruiting momentum to the on the field success and we have something. Right? McCarney lost coaches too, so let's get rid of that excuse and he inherited Chico. McCarney thought winning would solve the recruiting problem. Littrell thought the turnaround would too. The change in offense, the culture,...blah, blah, blah...no upgrade in recruiting. Period. "But Littrell is a better coach, so even if he can't recruit, he will coach players up..." that is what we are banking on and he gets an extension and the assistants gets raises. Based mainly off of the 1 win season. When you are judging performance by the worst output, anything will look better. Littrell hasn't proven anything offensively yet. Haven't proved it recruiting, and he will be in the same situation as mccarney and that is looking for JUCOs. UNT gave Littrell an extension and they didn't have to yet. Horrible. Let's hope it doesnt wind up like the McCarney one.
  24. Mac went 5-7 his first year...and went 9-4 his 3rd year...9 wins. Or we just going to remember the 1 win season and act like the 5-7 first year and 9 win season didn't happen? Right now if offered, I would take 4-8 next year and 9-4 the following year based on history.
  25. If it's about recruiting, Littrell owes UNT some money... As of right now, Litrell is no better than Mac was. Let's just hope there no one win season coming...I'm surprised the whole Alec Morris thing dosent give fans Chico flashbacks as far as bringing in Qbs...
