  1. girls also read "all of the latest fashion post" and comment on them... UNT90 - this is about recruiting, marketing, branding and economics. Good Design is Good Business.
  2. I know this is not a college team...but the Yankees use their interlocked NY logo to help brand their team. New York primarily uses 3 marks: NY logobat & patriotic top hatYankees spelled outZero brand confusion between the three logos or Is this York New or New York? The New York interlocked NY is an iconic logo that is similar in name or letters to the North Texas letterman's NT. What better inspiration to help us add an additional logo or "expand our own brand" on sports related merchandise. it's simple, classic and effective jus saying we need to "Expand the Brand!" 3XL GMG
  3. more mojo & "Expand the Brand"
  4. agreed...so tired of the food catching beards...not a germ-a-fob...but IMO they're pretty gross and hot...crap we live in Texas! remember Denton looks to Austin for weird trends...so not that original...
  5. take a bath hippy...
  6. Bill Murray - Rushmore quote - "take dead aim on the rich kids...put them in your cross hairs and take them down...they can buy anything but they can't buy a backbone"

boom...can't beat ou tx at the cotton bowl...hope it never moves to the Death Star
  9. It's no secret...pretty girls at big universities help recruit..."effectively"...they're the "school ambassadors" for the potential student athletes... sales 101...beauty "doesn't hurt".
  10. what a sweet baby girl...we need more fans in our mean green nation! cowtown & two other friends lived at Bruce...they loved it....I was at Kerr...it had a/c...
  11. I really enjoyed Baylor getting their ass handed to them...they thought all they had to do was show up and take the win at the Fiesta Bowl. UCF came to win....just like Boise State took it from Oklahoma. Baylor had a spoiled brat attitude about the bowl match-up. That's the beauty about college football. Underdogs can win...how bad do you want it? I'm personally ready for North Texas to upset a P5 again....it's TIME!
  12. I was at the OU/TX game in 2008. "Break Em Off" was played at some point durning the pregame warm ups...the OU players & fans were really loving it. This is one of best pregame "Hype" songs I've heard....sports chills. thanks for posting...
  13. crap...look at the shirts...same deal...why must we use three different fonts and place our crazy bird on everything
  14. look at the Argyle hat in this photo...look how cool that hat is...just a good ole rooting for your team ball cap...no crazy mechanical diving bird. Why cant we please EXPAND OUR BRANDS. Why does Argyle HS have cooler sports gear/hats than the University of North Texas? Imagine that same hat with our letterman's interlocked NT?
  15. agreed... In today's Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Texas football coach Charlie Strong's 1st stop in their Texas tour is....Fort Worth. "....what does Texas know about football, recruiting fans & talent? (they at least know to go where the people are) I have been to 2 of the last 3 FW caravans....enjoyed them both.
  16. awesome...thanks for sharing! the black helmet with green NT looks cool...
  17. If I owned the Mean Green store and could carry anything with any logo...my wish list would be any & all from my last 4 boards with "our" NT. My top-priority NT items would be the following: Car Emblem (simple & easy to read) Flag (game day flags for tailgate & homes) Outerwear (jackets, polos, fishing shirts) Caps (simple & easy to read headgear) My non-essential but would be cool category: Boots (NT would look better than small hard to read North Texas w diving eagle...ie Texas Ranger "T" boots...we are in TX) i-phone case (what would have as many exposure/impressions than a phone cover...NT would be simple & easy to read) Cups & Koozies (for now I will just have to use my "green light to greatness" koozie) mini-helmet with the interlocked NT on my shelf (classic & collegiate) I think our NT looks as good as the listed NC, ND and better than BU, SC and UH. I just returned from SEC country and could not help but notice the branded lettered logos on everything from tailgating spirit gear to business casual shirts & slacks. It's big business down there. I would like our business to grow. Time to turn "another corner" and expand the brand...to be a little bigger we need to brand a little bigger. good design is good business 3XL
  18. mid-major down south doing a good job... Houston primarily uses 4 marks in their sports merchandising with no "brand confusion" Houston - spelled out Cougars - spelled out Cougar - head interlocked UH
  19. thanks for the topic Plum....great post and insights from you, FFR and others. we need to step up, turn "another corner" and accept the fact that a large mid-major like NT needs a wider selection. Two marks does not fit all needs and applications. (i.e.) the spelled out North Texas in a small "scruntched-up" font with diving eagle to one side....looks bad on visor, baseball cap or car emblem. we need better licensing agreements & a better design/marketing team
  20. dude...these are concepts & mock ups...that apparently inspired the Athlectic Dept. this last year. So my argument to you, would be that they are "effective" concepts & mock ups. MeanGreener- Have you taken your anger management pill today?
  21. Ben Gooding - pay no mind to MeanGreener he's special and our very own "professor of meatheadism." As far as his design ideas? we're still waiting....
  22. disagree...furniture margins are fairly modest...there is a cost to doing business. I would guess that huge mark ups would better describe the bottled water or grab & go coffee industry. M-Mac's cost of goods is probably closer to $4.2M....not $500K or $1.4M "he claims he didnt have insurance?....don't forget....he's a pretty sharp promoter....and here we are...talking about his store/brand"
  23. not sure Mack lost 7M...the way I understand it...retailers buy large insurance claims to hedge this type of promo...so only out the cost to insure & promote the event..
