The report I received (from an eyewitness) is that MTSU had been grabbing and fouling and holding MM from the outset, and the referee was actually doing a decent job and calling fouls. Finally, after yet another hold (which was called a foul) MM just snapped and swung at the MTSU player. Not sure how well she connected. The referee really had no choice at that point but to red card MM. Obviously MTSU got what they were after, with USA benefiting also. It was a disappointing reaction from such a veteran player as MM. Anyway, as Hedlund said, this is a great opportnuity for the team to show that they are not a one player team. A win against USA on their pitch without MM will certainly be an accomplishment.
