  1. His wife played ball at ACU (while Mosley was there). Definitely a hoops family. https://acusports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/alex-guiton/1764
  2. Wren did a lot of good for UNT. I also understand people's immediate fear that Wren will try and poach McCasland. While Wren would probably love to have him, make no mistake about it, McCasland is here because of Mosley. Mosley identified him for Wren...just as he had done at ACU when they hired McCasland. They had/have a very solid relationship, even with McCasland leaving Abilene without ever coaching a game. Mosley followed that departure up by identifying another young up and coming coach in Joe Golding. All he did was lead ACU to an NCAAT win over Texas before taking the UTEP job. Mosley also hit a home run in hiring Chris Thomsen while at ACU, who led the Wildcats to 6 straight NCAA D2 Playoff appearances which were the only 6 years they ever made the D2 playoffs. Mosley has an eye for coaches.
  3. A lot of HS coaches do love him. TCU had a lot of trouble pulling kids from power programs in DFW over the last 5+ years. TCU's recruiting had gone much more national and they did a lot of their in state work outside of DFW and also had a pipeline into Louisiana. The reason for that was Patterson's relationships with many of those coaches. He wasn't out doing the relational work needed anymore. He still had great relationships with some big coaches/programs around DFW and the state (John Kay at GP North Shore being a big one) but was failing to develop new relationships. His biggest issue with DFW HS (and Dallas area in particular) was that he and Samples weren't exactly best buds. One of the big benefits from the Dykes hire was the younger Samples came with him (even though it was brief with his departure to the Rams) and repaired the relationship between TCU and those Dallas area programs/coaches. All that aside, I think the real issue is Gary wouldn't have the stomach/energy to tackle a total rebuild that needs to happen in Denton. He can keep cashing checks as an analyst for as long as he wants.
  4. Take Patterson off any list. His undoing at TCU was an inability to adapt to the new landscape of college football. A lot of DFW HS coaches weren't big fans of his and it showed in TCU's recruiting geography over the 5+ years. He was an outstanding HC and built that TCU program from the ground up, but I just don't see him being the guy to handle that construction process all over again. Gary already did the 20 year grind and he was very well compensated for it. I don't see him wanting to go down that road again and/or being well equipped to do it. Herman's ego is too big for UNT but he may not have a choice if he isn't willing to work his way back up to HC via the coordinator route at a P5 school. There is enough smoke around his character/persona to be concerned. I chalk some of that up to trying to handle the crap you have to handle at UT. The guy has proven he can win and recruit. He is also one of the names out there that could fire up a few BMD's to get on the NIL train. Fuente/Carthel strike me as similar type HC's in their approach to program building. Obviously, Carthel hasn't climbed the same ladder Fuente did, but neither are super flashy guys. They are solid HC's. The Lebby/K Briles/Harrell (and I'd throw it Kittley at Tech) group offers the potential for exciting offense and also bring an energy that should resonate with recruits. I don't know who of them, if any, would see the HC job at UNT as a better route to where they want to get vs. being a P5 OC.
  5. Kuehne had a wild journey for sure. He couldn’t ever win the job at little ole Liberty Christian because he was stuck behind Starkel and then Copeland (in the portal btw). His family decided to move him to Owasso so he could actually start. Yes...he had to go from a mediocre large private school program to the top team in Oklahoma’s highest division to get on the field. As a sophomore at Liberty Will showed what is being discussed here by starting at safety all year and playing some WR after not being able to beat out Copeland (who would transfer to Argyle the following season meaning Kuehne would have had the starting job!). He wound up in the perfect situation with a lot of future college talent including his go to weapon Josh Proctor (Ohio State). They went on a crazy run ending it by beating Jenks and Union back to back weeks to claim their first title since 1974. With Proctor and other talent graduated Owasso couldn’t repeat and fell to 7-5. But Kuehne was still a bright spot. Long road to eventually make it home to UNT. He’s a great kid from a great family and definitely one you’re happy to have in your room. I don’t know that he is ever the guy you want starting but love having a QB in the room that’s hungry to get on the field however he can.
  6. That would be a home run hire from a recruiting perspective and DL play. He has learned under Patterson but has his own style. He has churned out some top notch DL and developed two of the Big 12’s best pass rushers this season. TCU faithful love this guy too.
  7. Scott Symons - Liberty He’s a local guy and has recruited Texas for a few different schools. Younger guy on the rise. It would be a lateral move but maybe you could sell him on coming home. Had Liberty 13th in total yards and 22nd in scoring defense. This guy is going to be a head coach someday if you look at his career trajectory. Would be a great pickup if you could convince him to leave a better program.
  8. TCU would have run all over them. Arky defense is no bueno.
  9. Mason Fine part 2. Copeland would be a nice pickup if they target him.
  10. Well the 2022 kid picked up Virginia Tech and Michigan offers today so maybe late to the party on that one!
  11. First play in this video was a punt with 15 seconds left in a 28-28 game...Gamble ended it with this return. Gamble GW Punt Return He also won a game on a KOR TD with under two minutes left in a game earlier this season. This kid is a solid CB prospect with good return ability as well. Also keep an eye out for a 2022 prospect out of Liberty that just received an offer from Southern Miss. His name is Cristian Driver and he is the son of Donald Driver.
  12. Kuehne shined in Owasso's season opening thumping of traditional power Jenks. Threw for almost 300 yards and 5 TDs. Finally got to a competent football program and now the arm talent that has been there has a chance to show. With Copeland primed to lead Argyle on a deep run as their QB, Kuehne running the show for one of the top programs in OK...Liberty lost two top notch QBs. And what they have left isn't anything special. Best one might be a freshman from what I've heard.
  13. I would love to be "floundering" the way TCU is right now. They pumped money into the program to get a great coach and turn an out of date arena into something they could showcase and be proud of. And one year in they have a legitimate shot at being a tournament team. Obviously totally different universities, donors and situations...but a great example of what a strong commitment can yield; much like SMU's decision to commit to becoming a successful basketball program.
  14. He's back on the market
  15. Was told this morning that Kuehne will get to start tomorrow in Liberty's first round playoff game. Kuehne had played WR and Safety all year but the starting QB was injured in final regular season game. Kuehne did lead team on final drive of that game which resulted in a game winning FG as time expired. Liberty's first round opponent is Bishop Dunne, so Kuehne will get a chance to prove himself vs the best. Dunne has the following players on their defense; DT Damion Daniels- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/13328 DT Calvin Avery- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/13565 DT Malex Fuget- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/maple/188066 LB Paul Favorite- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/16880 LB Shane Hailey- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/16910 DB Chevin Calloway- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/139 DB Brian Williams- http://247sports.com/Player/Brian-Williams-91902 (He's 247's #1 ranked player in TX class of 2019...#3 in the country) DB Caleb Biggurs- https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/16908 Along with Juniors Roscoe Jones (DE) and Anthony McClinton (S/LB) that are receiving interest. Good chance to show what he can do against one of the more stacked defenses in the state.
