Announced Attendance at MUTS--14,102
meangreener replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
Chance of a 5 digit crowd? Come on, the only time we've had completely terrible attendance at Apogee was the disgusting weather MUTS game. The FAU game was rough, but the attendance probably pretty accurate for that game. Also bad weather + the Rangers. Students will show up no matter what. And this is homecoming. -
Exactly my point. Houston is a bandwagon team except the Texans. You averaged 6-15K for about half your existence. Your best years were 30K in a half empty Dome in the 70s. You've never sniffed that ever again. Nice try. Ours is pretty consistently in the 17K range. Despite terribad football, a hardcore group shows up no matter what. Not at UH.
-
Isn't their average in the early 90s like 8K?
-
It's incredibly easy to get banned on the NCAABBS, especially with idiots like BurnTheHorse having mod power. He unbanned me after I caught him lying to ban me. Idiots run that asylum.
-
...and the North Texas game had to have 21K there, including 5K UNT fans. UH brings at most 5K students ever. This year maybe a grand. I remember going "WOW, no tailgating, trash stadium, no atmosphere, quiet fans, empty stadium."
-
Because you're arrogant, stupid and lead a sorry life. If you come on here and ridicule us, the easy target is Cougar High.
-
I'm not talking about the first two games. You lose a few and then your attendance is similar to us. 24K with 5K UNT fans vs us. Furthermore, I'd much rather have 10K loud and rowdy students than 20K quiet T-shirt fans and 400 students that aren't as loud as the visitor section like the NT game. I'm done here. Don't you need to go do your nightly 3rd Ward neighborhood watch?
-
No, I misread it. 39K-40K, expandable to 60K. Wait, wait, too small for your fan base? Oh,dear God, you know nothing. One losing season at UH and attendance goes into the low teens. The fact you pull 24 this year is proof enough.
-
You know nothing about the city, that's why your stadium's plans for 40 have been scaled back to 35. No Houstonian with a brain would go over 40K. Also, it's $106 million. Not double. UH math. Dude. The Dynamo sells out a good third of their games every year. KHOU was too busy talking about the Dynamo's championships than tickets. Obviously haven't lived in H-Town very long.
-
Agreed, look at yourself. I'm a 100% Houstonian. You didn't cut it here and moved to a city you don't know. Trust me, 45K would be idiotic. The Dynamo are more relevant than the Coogs. H-Town only supports a winner. (Texans being the exception.)
-
Lol. All 400 of your student section and the ever fickle Houston fan base will never fill up a 45K stadium. You guys put 20K in Reliant. Houston used to be a baseball town and look at the Juice Box, can't give away tickets.
-
A student section.
-
Just like how funny it'll be when UH goes to the Big Least and gets lit up every week. Anyway, I'd be happy for him. We royally screwed him over.
-
My Dad is a Browns fan. His exact words, "UNT fits right in with the Munthe curse." The Browns are just as miserable as we are.
-
Yeah, on the recruiting and talent evaluation, we will see what happens next year. As of this year, I just don't see much improvement in the far future. I see us as being legitimately VERY good next year as our defense will be older, and our offense a lot stronger, but in the future, I just don't know yet. Prove me wrong, McCarney.
-
Well, first off, actually get your players READY to play. Against Houston and against MTSU we were NOT ready to play. Sell the CUSA and our stadium to recruits. Sell Berglund to our recruits. Sell Jimmerson. Sell ESPN. Texas State is getting higher ranked recruits after getting pasted at home to Texas Tech in a glorified high school stadium that was 75% full with Tech fans. Sell the atmosphere. Sell the tailgating experience. Stop letting Thompson throw away our season. There is NO WAY that anyone, even McNulty, is worse than Thompson has been this year. Brelan, Delgado and Jimmerson have bailed him out of bad decisions all season long. Stop playing conservatively. At this point, what's to lose? We'd never have the balls to line up in a two QB set in the backfield like ULM or run trick plays or anything like that. We tried it against K-State, Thompson held us back, done deal. I can go on and on to everything Coach Mac has botched this season. I don't get it. Where is he building to? We have an influx of talent coming in next year...but mostly transfers/eligibility issues, not recruits. Our recruiting is going to help us battle UAB yearly not ECU and Southern Miss. If you only show up for home games, you can only win half (or in our UNACCEPTABLE case) 5 games out of 12. Until we live up to our resources and our totally undeserved fan base, our play is unacceptable. Period. This is our life:
-
Wow, I got negged for calling this season unacceptable. Being a bottom tier team in the worst conference in the FBS and getting pasted by a team we beat 59-7 AND WHO ALSO lost to a FCS ballclub is UNACCEPTABLE. Getting out recruited by Texas State and UTSA is UNACCEPTABLE. Y'all's expectations are hilariously low. Content with mediocrity. Guess forty years of being a Rangers fan and the last fifteen years of Cowboys football have done that to y'all.

THECB Vote on NT Union Fee (Maybe not good)
meangreener replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
What a pathetic human being he is. I picked NT over UH, A&M, UTSA and Tech and it was the best decision of my life. -
Thompson is probably one of the worst quarterbacks starting in the FBS. If he didn't have a usually competent defense, an electric young RB and a pretty good homefield advantage, being down 31-0 would be a common thing for him.
-
I see a lot of talent for next year, but this year is unacceptable, don't care how you slice it. And no, if we're good, you won't see me complaining about things...(as a Texans fan, I know). Lot of incoming talent, going to be a completely new offense pretty much next year.
-
Exactly.

Announced Attendance at MUTS--14,102
meangreener replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
We do it all the time, but we're not consistent about it which makes me scratch my head. The FAU and MUTS games last year were ridiculous. There's no way we were 10K. -
Or, with a minute left, try to get into FG range. Call a trick play once in a while.
-
We look pretty solid for next year. I'm pretty excited.
