How is it OVERHYPED? This isn't OVERHYPED. This is POORLY COACHED. The team has superstars across the board who are not given a gameplan to their strengths. They don't get Tony the ball. Tony is pissed because Benford is ruining his career. This was our ONE chance to get NATIONAL recognition.

Benford is just a horrible coach. He doesn't set a gameplan to the strengths of the team, he plays accuracy ball with a team that can't shoot very well. No driving up the middle, no points in the paint, no good breakaways, can't teach the players to break a freaking zone D. Just DISGUSTED. Mitchell's behavior is unacceptable. He won't be in the NBA like that.

Honestly, I'm a very big supporter of RV, but the way that this basketball season has become is just...unacceptable. Somebody needs to be held accountable. I think it unacceptable to spend $80 million dollars on a stadium, spend a bunch of money on so-called Super Pit renovations, a practice facility, but yet let Tony Benford coach a basketball team and not make McCarney's seat warm (that's for another thread). Tony Benford has NO control of the team. Did anyone see the WAY Tony Mitchell was acting? It was disgusting. He was acting like a spoiled child. There were scouts there and Tony will be lucky to maintain his draft position with this abhorrent play. However, Tony was begging and pleading for the ball, Benford can't plan anything to get the ball to him. It was disgusting. He can't gameplan how to break a zone defense. He lets Chris Jones airball everything. There's NO accountability. With Johnny Jones, this team would be a 2-loss team. This team will implode this year and this will be the biggest failure in NT history. But with the amount of money and hooplah around UNT athletics, this is just REALLY unacceptable. So, at some point, despite Apogee, you HAVE to look at the AD and demand answers. This has been unacceptable.

I'd kill for 9-3 and 7-5 with a 2-2 bowl record. Look at his success at Iowa State (stop looking at overall, it's irrelevant) and it took him a while, but he did it. Turned Iowa State, a team with 1 bowl win and .400 all time, he turned them into a 7-5 team and doubled their bowl total. After 9-3, I see a bunch of 7-5 seasons mixed with two rebuilding years. Losing career records are irrelevant. I'd kill for a few 9-3, 8-4 and 7-5 years with a 2-2 bowl record. Wade Phillips has a great record. Not a great coach. ISU was foolish to let him go, as look at them since. Look at what he did there and look at what others did there.

To go 9-3. For a while, he was a 7-5 coach. I'm pissed, but you people are clearly jumping ship far too early. I think another season is the last chance. His overall record is irrelevant. And with recruiting, you're delusional if you think he'd come in here getting 4 star recruits with our reputation. I thought we'd be 4-8 last year and thought 6-6 this year. Pretty close. I think we are a 8-4 team next year. I see good redshirts, recruits and transfers. We're on the brink of something, and I see potential. Took Fry two years. Just step back and breathe before you do something stupid and rash. The way people are demanding immediate success just isn't realistic. And he did fail at bringing a QB. But his only other option is Osborn, who, if his Twitter is any sign, very entitled and arrogant. He brought Berglund, though. One of our highest profile QBs...in a long time. Recruiting, he brought Jim Jim...he wasn't highly rated...2-stars...he looks electric. Whitfield has shown enormous potential...no stars. Mac is going for a system player. Not superstars.
