Yeah, but I mean, I think most people realize that it is erector set based off of the way it has to be designed. Most see that the entire stadium is concrete and even then the Wing Zone is hybrid erector/concrete based off of design & looks. Just my opinion. I don't know how you'd make the Wing Zone concrete entirely without some massive, ugly pillars. The green steel and the way it arches over the concourse looks nice, especially lit up at night. You can see it is concrete, just held up by erector steel. It's not like FAU's incredibly cheap looking stadium. -
I'm usually a pessimist so I'm okay with your prediction, although I think Berglund will be great, nice recruiting class and Mac has the team he wants built the way he wants with the system he wants. There's reasons to be positive.

Same here, I thought it was terrible until I saw it finished. Seeing it in the distance over the bridge is just epic. If they got rid of the Wing Zone, I'd be highly disappointed and frankly outraged since I paid for a part of the stadium. It's imposing and sets us apart. Paint the damn bleachers or concrete green to make it look nice when it's empty though. I love playing NCAA facing the Wing, just so...defining. -
What C-USA 2013 homie are you most excited about?
meangreener replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Rice is huge. We'll probably outdraw them at their stadium. -

UTEP. Alumni base. Name recognition. Just about everything. -

I know everyone has said this for 50 years, but UNT is really on the rise. Great schedule, great recruiting, best stadium in the NCAAF, seriously. -

The Wing Zone was more than likely a very expensive addition to the stadium and I'm 100% sure that UNT wants it as a trademark. The "expandable to 50,000" comes from a second level on the student side. Furthermore, I think unless we miraculously sell out games for 20 years (in DFW, not going to happen, one bad year equals bad attendance unless you're the Cowboys) so I think 30K is ideal. Tickets are harder to get, better atmosphere, etc. You want the illusion of demand. Lastly, the WZ is fantastic and sets us apart. I know so many Tech and OU fans who gushed over the wing and how imposing it looks and how cool it looks lit up from the freeway. Without the wing, it's no longer the best NCAA stadium and loses all of the stadium's personality. -
Have scouts sold out in the recruiting game?
meangreener replied to mockcode911's topic in Mean Green Football
Berglund was also a 3* that was downgraded to a 2*. Either way, this is the best recruiting class we've had in recent memory. There's about 5 3* that Rivals downgraded.- 20 replies

Different situation, though...same coach...and if we go 4-8/5-7 again I won't be too disappointed because I'm just used to it, as a UNT and Texans fan over the past few years

You may not have a choice but to associate with us, which is completely hilarious. UH and SMU are in a worse position than we are, at this point. You're in an East Coast based conference with a bunch of SBC-level schools like us with no TV contract. LMAO!
-
& in CUSA, we will go to a bowl at 6-6.
-
Give me some Kool-Aid. My predictions depend on Berglund starting, btw. HOME: W Idaho W Ball State L Middle Tennessee W Rice W UTEP W UTSA AWAY: L at Ohio L at Georgia W at Louisiana Tech W at Southern Miss W at Tulane L at Tulsa So that's 8-4. If Thompson's in, we lose to Ball and Rice.

Well, I think it's quite obvious you are lacking in brain cells by your serious lack of reading comprehension, so I guess bygones will be bygones.

My point is that it's not really appropriate to compare the Texans & Cowboys because you have 40 years of history to draw off of, we have 10. It's still sad that people in Texas just can't root for each other, I'd rather the Cowboys in the SB than anyone else, but, hey, Dallas's inferiority complex is outrageous so whatever. I rooted for the Rangers and the Mavs. Not like the Texans and Cowboys are rivals.

And I'm going to tell them about our 2 playoff wins in 11 years and their 1 in 16 years. And the fact they haven't won a Super Bowl during our existence.
-
Typical jealous Cowboy fan. Make sure to save this posterity.
-
The reason there were tickets is because they usually release anywhere from 1000 to 5000 tickets the day before the playoff game and most people thought they were going to be off this weekend so made plans. Either way, it was a complete sell out, so try again with the snotty half-hearted comeback. We will win this weekend and host the Texans-Ravens game.
-
He's got a point...just got back from watching the Texans beat the Bengals...DFW wishes they could have a tailgate scene and a stadium as loud as Houston does...not to mention they support UH pretty well...and A&M...Houston has sold out every game except after Bud announced he was leaving the Dome...

Who did I insult? D/FW people? So D/FW=everyone? I think that the enormous amount of Houston, Denton, Austin, San Antonio, and OoS people at NT disagree. But OK. I insulted D/FW because it really is an undesirable place to live. Denton is a fantastic little town, but that's about it in the area, except perhaps Downtown & the immediately surrounding areas of Fort Worth. The suburbs are segregated hellholes; the "Mid-Cities", Plano, Frisco, etc. I couldn't care less what they think of me, nor the way I act, because these places are filled with out of touch yuppies with too much $ and little brain activity. But they're not Denton, and if you moved to one of those suburbs, or hell, DFW, that's your problem. Keller was the only place I've ever been to in which calling someone "Watauga trash" was an accepted term. (Especially considering those people still lived in $200K houses.) Done arguing here, this thread has derailed quickly. I do see though nothing has changed around here, however.

More assumptions and BS. And before anyone here goes gravedigging, yes, we both said 'MF'er' Eagles at a game. I decided to stop using it as I think it's a trashy word, but point still remains. Oh, and FIFY. You know, if y'all disrespect and dislike student behavior so much, why don't you just go hardcore root for another terrible football team mainly with adult supporters at the games, like the Cowboys? See, unlike UNT (a University in which is populated by mainly youth students who go to UNT to learn, the football team being made up of youth students) the Cowboys fill their stadium with yuppie Kellerites with too much money who yell at people who stand up and cheer at the games. I'm not criticizing all the money and help you have given the athletic department. I'm simply criticizing the fact that you dislike student behavior at a football game at a major university.
-
Pot calling kettle black? You just jumped to conclusions on my upbringing based off of us thinking that 'MF'in' Eagles is mildly amusing. So I jumped to conclusions that you are a copter parent based on your intense offense at someone saying 'MF'in' during a fight song at a college football game.

Loss by 20.

Quite different, adding mf'er to the fight song and our national anthem. That would be more akin to adding it to the alma mater. It's a "FIGHT SONG". Look, y'all need to face it, it's coming back, and UNT is going to have to officially change the fight song if they don't like it. Which is typical UNT, taking away something that the entire fan base can be a part of. Once again, I don't do it, but as always, the helicopter mothers and fathers who shield their children from the world from their bubble homes in Keller know best, right? Watching 300 pound linemen crash into QBs, giving them concussions, broken bones, possibly even paralyzing them is OK but a curse word is not. When the pregame music is on, do you keep your kids out of the stadium? I mean, all that rap and hip hop has lyrics degrading to women, talking about violence, sex, crime, etc. You probably are OK when they wear 'swag', do drugs and bully kids, right? Well, they do this because they grow up in a bubble. 10 days inside Keller HS and you'd understand why growing your kids in a bubble, shielded from the world is a joke. What a mf'ing joke. But did you read that earlier, ONE MORE TIME FOR POSTERITY, I DON'T SAY MF'ER IN THE FIGHT SONG. One more time? I DON'T DO IT. I don't support it, but college kids WILL BE COLLEGE KIDS. My Dad thought it was amusing because he taught me morals and ethics so we can laugh at a college environment in which COLLEGE KIDS WILL BE MF'IN COLLEGE KIDS. I mean, good lord I'm in New York right now and everywhere you go someone's dropping an F-bomb in public, maybe even screaming it. But yet, the kids here turn out alright, don't they? Flat out disgusting. Every time things like this come up, I always have to ask myself why I came back to D/FW. The mentality in D/FW is just laughable. I hoped I was far enough away in Denton, but oh, was I wrong. This is why D/FW is known as the plastic capital of the world.
