I loved the old logo. It was excellent. This is awful and looks cheap. As does the "We Rise Together"
-
But we're too classy for things the major schools do. We're UNT. Classy. Classy. Also known as "small-time mentality".

You sir, are a real hero. Exactly.

I cannot believe we wasted this guy's talent. All of those days when Benford didn't start the kid...just, wow. Benford is worse than we thought. This kid had the potential to take us deep...I give up.

Mitchell - “This season I was going up and down and cruising"
meangreener replied to Tree's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Only NT would have a player like Tony Mitchell and find a way to screw it up. -
UT wants nothing to do with Cougar High as Longhorns call it. Move on, nothing to see here.

Notes and thoughts from the final stop of the Mean Green caravan
meangreener replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I've been to games at Ohio State, Penn State, UT, A&M...to name a few. Pageantry comes from a winning history. Which we DO NOT have. What CUSA schools have "pageantry"? None. Such a freaking joke and don't make assumptions. We have one of the best bands in the NCAA and our """"""pageantry"""""" is on pace with every other Group of 5 school. God, did anyone even go to the UH game? What a snooze fest. I was so grateful for our band after that cluster, not to mention the dead atmosphere. We were louder and had more chants going than the entire stadium. The reason that our pregame sucks is because everyone knows we suck, so they show up late because they don't want to leave their beer and they don't know the players so they have no idea who to cheer for. This thread and topic is the worst, filled by ignorant complainers who aren't very acute observers. -

Exactly. I just read this thread and vomited a little bit in my mouth. I've never understood the complaining about our band, the "pageantry", the presentation and all that crap. It looks pretty damn good to me from where I'm sitting. Add in a rowdy student section and, maybe you guys are just drunk. We should start an "Alumni...You Let The Whole Team Down!" chant for you whiners. -
UNT Updates Future Non-Conference Schedule Through 2025

We will. Easily, I might add. -
The next long term OOC contract should be with Houston

Cougar Queen couldn't cut it...flat out. He makes excuses, but he's just another UNT dropout with an axe to grind...like GL2greatness. Nothing to see here, guys... -

Vastly underachieving? Here we go, it's the offseason. No "Pageantry". What a joke. It's time to stop visiting GMG.com for a while. Not to mention I never said that we were better. But that we are most definitely an impressive college experience for a small conference team. We have one of the best college environments in CUSA, probably the best after ECU leaves. Maybe behind UTEP, but UTEP is lacking in "college environment" feeling and has little tailgating. They have a sweet stadium, attendance, and dedication though. -

Saban Says He's For Five Conferences
meangreener replied to Eagle1855's topic in Mean Green Football
The reason I doubt this happens is you have a lot of schools that moved up and spent the money. If the big conferences try to break away, these schools (us) likely all band together and sue for antitrust. Together, we'd all hold a lot of clout. I don't even know. I for one think the FBS is a little oversaturated. I think what should happen is let the D league go ahead and form their division. As long as we maintain a foot hold on the one playoff spot and are eligible to be ranked as well as schedule/play each other, go ahead. Who gives a flying f**k? -

With the absurd amount of moveups, I don't even care what happens other than the W on Saturday. I knew this would come out ugly with everyone and their mother moving to FBS...it has hit a saturation point. Just worry about yourself, NT. -

Which is ridiculous. But, whatever. Not the hard work part. The part that we're going to have to deal with DT for another year. Overthrows, everything. Should be fun! -

I don't think there is a single chance we buy out of Iowa. I think the series was likely Mac's doing. I think due to conference reshuffling, we may end up with 5 conference home games when you look at the teams leaving/coming and when we play them. -
Where do you live/family: Denton, Engaged, Family is from Houston, they live in New York now Degree/Year attended/graduated UNT: BFA English, Fall 2013 graduation, going to continue at UNT for graduate school Favorite NT Memory: Probably will be graduating, but being a student ambassador and really getting to share my love of UNT with new/potential students, or trying to traverse to Kerr during the snowpocalypse and being confused (I'm from Houston), the terrible Clark Hall, maybe...my RA getting kicked out freshman year for getting drunk on his 21st and banging on all the doors of his wing "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY GUYS!" at 1 am. Favorite NT Sports Memory: The atmosphere in the first half of the Houston game at Apogee, and rushing the field versus Indiana

Not to mention RV and Mac expressed the importance of 6 home games to the entire group, in addition to my question, and how that would be the standard for the future. I think we'll be just fine. It is clearly a concern for them that 5 home games are as of now and that they are working to remedy the situation. Between my question, Vito's question and his pounding over it, I feel like RV is going to come through with 6. Mac and him were very adamant about it. Also opening at home. Let's hope we continue to get that each year. -

Not really. Conference realignment may help us. And I was there. I think I heard what he said quite well, when I asked him and his exact response was "That schedule is not finished. Our goal is 6 home games and we haven't finished that schedule yet. Hang on." -
I'm ready for this season. I have good vibes for this season. Gotta love the fight song and Mac's speech. Man, I want Mac to go down as a legend at UNT.

It was interesting. They seemed very interested in getting attendance up and also RV seemed to pretty much guarantee 6 home games in 2015. Also...Benford said Creighton at home in 2 years. -
2012 NCAA Total Revenue by Athletic Department

People at UNT won't just stand by as this school becomes a school for UT rejects, so you can wish that UNT was a UH or TSSM replica, but it's not happening for a school with a reputation based off of education and liberal arts degrees. I'm not going to get into a "School's for jobs and not learning," argument. -

meangreener replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It doesn't keep us at the status quo. Our excellence at liberal arts keeps us from being a school for UT rejects. Most of our liberal arts students are here as a first choice, I'd estimate. Our problem is not our liberal art majors. We've never been a business or engineering based school, and I hope we never do. Because then that just makes us a school for UT rejects, like UH. We can have success in athletics and have success in liberal arts. I'm an English major. I came for Journalism. If I came for business or engineering, I would not be here, that's for sure, even if UNT was trying to make it better because of the label as this as a liberal art school. UNT has a weird, funky vibe that would be quite boring and plain if we stopped focusing our academic efforts on liberal arts, teaching, etc Instead of emulating UT like about 4 other schools try and fail to, focus on what makes UNT great. Keep these programs, but don't put all the eggs in one basket, because trying to emulate UT doesn't work. I don't think having a huge endowment is necessary for our success. I'd rather be a school full of people who go to school for an education than a school for people who go to get a job. -

I don't think UNT will ever be that good at engineering, business, medicine, pharmacy or law. We're a liberal arts college, flat out. A public liberal arts school. I think there's plenty pride among the graduates now. But I do think this whole "We need to be the cheapest" needs to go away.
