NTSU must've had really low application requirements if you got in. -
UNT and local universities in line for big improvements

I didn't mind Sterling but 33N is an ugly eyesore embarrassment. -
I think it's in the best interest of all to lock this thread.

Who cares what the student body does? We'd still be having single digit crowds at Fouts if it wasn't for the students. It's like the ULL game. Sold out student section and 1/4th filled alumn section. "Those damn students, ruining our kid's minds! They're the problem!" Tipper Gore over here. Take care of the fact y'all can't fill up your side for various BS reasons and the students will take care of their problems.
-
They are in the midst of a turnaround and have $26 stock. Not too shabby. Doing pretty fine last time I checked. I liked that sneaky line about not all students being like me. Well, if there weren't many students like me, then you'd have about 100 students at the games, all freshman, who don't know any of the players or rules of football. Which coincidentally happened (100 students) after the GB butchered the fight song. Y'all are literally the worst alumni. This has to be the most braindead group of supporters. Not all, but a massive amount of y'all. Just braindead. Whenever I get annoyed or question UNT, I just remember that I've never met a single person who actually thinks GMG.com isn't full of out of touch elderly men bitching about pageantry and irrelevant things. Sausage fest, man. Sausage fest. I feel like I'm surrounded by imbeciles. I keep coming back because I enjoy discussing UNT, but the level of stupidity here...is...just...so...painfully...high... I totally understand why the Queen, FroggyStyle and GL2greatness troll this place. You guys are just too easy and out of touch. SMU! PAGEANTRY! NO PROFANITY! (But alcohol at games?) WE WANT BETTER ATTENDANCE BUT ONLY IF Y'ALL ARE CLASSY! WE'RE BETTER THAN TSSM! ACU! ...laughing my mf'in ass off. This forum chases students off like, as I posted before, Clint Eastwood chases Asians off his yard.

This is like #3 for threatening to revoke your MGC membership. You're like the guy at Best Buy complaining that he'll never shop there again while 3 new people who've never set foot in said store walk in. In other words, cool story bro.
-
We don't do much of either, let's be honest. Can this thread go to the GMG.com Hall of Fame? (or Failure?) All the bad, failed attempts at satire are the best + Cougar Queen.
-
My life would be dull without you guys. And no, Cougar Queen, you are rarely ever correct. Here, probably. Because every now and then a blind squirrel finds an acorn.
-
Some of us try to help them folk? So now you're better than them? Like they're poor trash? LMFAO, that mentality is the problem. And you're an idiot if you think heckling has no effect on the opposing team. It does.
-
Exactly. Couldn't have said it better, honestly.
-
I'm so offended.
-
The band didn't start singing that part and the words weren't added. Keep grasping.
-
Can't change the fight song without student and administrative approval.
-
I was clearly not referring to the MF'in part. Clearly referring to the drum roll gestured U N T part. Clearly.
-
No. But it's no coincidence out student attendance dropped drastically afterward even for homecoming and didn't even recover for basketball.
-
The Woodlands is pretty terrible about that. It's isolated and far away from the city though, so they're harmless. I lived in Keller and you weren't good enough unless you lived in a McMansion and some of the comments about the song are akin to the bubble mentality that I think many in the metroplex hold whether that's true or not. Anyway, look. I don't like that the band took out the only tradition we had. I don't think they have a right. I just don't like the alumni/student disconnect because it's really...bad for our future.
-
No consequences? Well, ESPN loves LSU. And, wait, did I say that they'd add MF'in to the song? LMFAO! No, haha. This is rich. They are going to be forced to add the end of the song back or face repercussions, if the band continues to cut the end. The SGA is getting it fixed or putting it up to a vote. And the vote will clearly go in the favor of keeping the full song. Fort Worth suburbia comments are because this is the only place where people complain that students use profanity at games. Literally. The only. They're okay with referring to other, poorer residents as trash and getting wasted every night but not the profane addition to the fight song. As you can tell, I despise Ft Worth suburbs. Good stuff, good stuff.
-
Well, first off, I wouldn't take my 2 year old to a football game.
-
I don't do it. But if students want to say it, then they have every right to say it. Do you really think that anyone who says it uses "motherf'ing" at all, anyway? Highly doubt it. To assume saying it in a fight song means you'll say it in a professional environment is ludicrous. Well, of course it needs to be unfriendly to the opponents. Homefield advantage. We shouldn't make their stay luxurious. That's why Boomer is right next to them. Unfriendly to children? Nah. If your kids don't expect to see/hear some bad/outrageous things at a COLLEGE game...well, they're in for a shock. The hill? Drunk people? I went to the Texans playoff game last year...nobody was sober, plenty profanities were heard and the Bengals fans got heckled all night. Nothing beat my favorite, the Browns game I attended as a child, bottlegate. Or an old Cowboys-Texans game at Texas Stadium in which a smack-talking Texan fan got beer drenched. Maybe you prefer the dead atmosphere at the high profile seen-but-not-heard Jerryworld...but that's not football and that's not what it's about. As a kid who grew up at Browns and Buckeyes games by a now-executive who also grew up at Browns and Buckeyes games (he doesn't use the profanity he used at games at his job, obviously), he and I turned out okay and saying MF'in at a COLLEGE FOOTBALL game is going to do no harm. I'm no longer going to argue this point because I'm tired of it and the bubble suburban Ft Worth mentality comes out to play and is more frustrating than watching the Astros. Whoever necro'd this thread needs to be castrated.

Anyone who puts --their name after their posts isn't very mature to begin with. I'll take the opinion of a marine over another DFW copter parent any day.
-
Extremely immature. This is cute. Funny you mention bubble, as apparently you want to raise your kids in a bubble. As far as Who? goes, they taught us it at Orientation. That's here to stay. If the band cuts the UNT part of it this year, the SGA is filing a complaint with the band director and RV (I have heard from VERY reliable sources through the grapevine). If the band wants to change it, they'll have to put it up for a vote. And it won't pass.
-
I say North Texas because it has better name recognition in places such as the northeast or elsewhere than UNT. I've met a few people who recognize us at North Texas State.
-
At least you have a valid reason for disliking it.
-
I prefer North Texas. I rarely say I go to UNT, I say North Texas. When I say "I'm going to the North Texas game," it usually makes it seem like that we are North Texas's team. SMU can be Dallas's, we'll be North Texas's team. All of our graduates have had North Texas on their diploma, like Texas State has always had Texas State. However, the day the name gets replaced with the eagle will be glorious.
