  1. I love it. And it fits in with the style of all the other Houston area stadiums. Pretty nice, honestly. Is it really erector set? That's disappointing and surprising. Apogee definitely feels solid and permanent. I have no idea how they did that for the price we paid. We got a steal.
  2. Exactly. I could care less about whether the SBC is a stronger conference. It's a better conference for us.
  3. All I know is the west division will own the CUSA and we're in it. The West is a fantastic division.
  4. UNT was a commuter school. If you were a student in the 80s, campus has changed immensely since then. Hell, it's changed from my freshman year when I felt quite underwhelmed by the school and the atmosphere. Like I've said many times before, the mentality has changed. The performance hasn't. The current students and young alums don't feel that commuter school mentality, the ugh-who-cares-go-Whorns, mentality because our administration has done a lot to get rid of that. But the problem is that we still suck like we have in the past, so the mentality is ugh-we-always-suck-go-Whorns. There's a ton of PRIDE on the campus and we need to win to capitalize on it. Now. Apogee was the final puzzle piece that got students engaged on campus. Just win, baby. What happened in the early 2000s with us winning and nobody showing up was a product of an apathetic administration about student body, engagement and athletics...it's much different now. All the comments about beating teams that matter...I don't think that matters at all. Our basketball attendance has been pretty good recently (before last year) beating mostly irrelevant teams and we would sell a ton of tickets for the occasional local team. For a team that was "so great" but only managed two NCAA appearances but regularly led the SBC in basketball attendance, fans will show up. Our attendance is at 18K now...winning would give some heft, maybe put us in the mid-20s. We pull decent numbers the first few games, until we start losing every year. There is no way that if we win we will still only pull 17K to games...considering we average 18K and have been the worst/near the bottom in the FBS for 7-8 years. Our current attendance is proof that the mentality has changed. Where's the performance? It's definitely a flat out outdated view of UNT to call it a commuter school. The SGA set up a "police force" that goes around and gives "tickets" to people during football season wearing other school gear so they can go trade their shirt in for a UNT shirt for free, if they give up their other school shirt. That's not the actions of a student body of a commuter school. The administration gave funding to the bookstore to back this "police" thing up. It was amusing. I think Bataille was forced out due to the fact that she was OK with being a commuter school. UNT administration is doing their damndest to wipe out the commuter school tag and have done a miraculous job, even if they don't care for athletics as much as they like to pretend.
  5. Did I miss something? The Apogee announcer isn't the Super Pit announcer? Well, good lord, I must be deaf. That's embarrassing.
  6. I love our announcer. He's really iconic. That snarl he has during the "First Down!" and stuff is pretty fantastic. However, our music selections are...let's just say...embarrassing. The "Fabulous" he says for The Super Pit is kind of ridiculous, though.
  7. They are quite good at making trolls out of dissenters...
  8. I think the student section does a fine job of the "Go green! Go white!" part, but maybe that's just me.
  9. I love it. Not a UNT game for me until I hear it.
  10. NT's a regional university? News to me. Not according to Forbes, US News or Princeton. Looks like you're wrong again.
  11. And you're a really, really pathetic, lonely 50 year old troll.
  12. Funny, it was just voted most fun & friendliest small town in America. Denton is a real city, not a sterile boring town with a commercialized town square. I'm extremely well traveled and you're wrong. Denton is one of the best cities I've been to, and I grew up in Houston and have been to all of the major cities and lived in quite a few. Denton is EASILY the best in DFW and the next closest isn't even close. I mean. I wouldn't cast stones from a glass house...*cough* Life's too short to live in Dallas *cough*
  13. Can't we all just get along? Just water under the bridge? Bygones be bygones? I'm tired of being on the defensive, tired of looking like a jerk and just am ready for football season to begin so the fighting and complaining from all sides--including me--goes away and becomes complaining about poor football performance.
  14. "Rarely do I ever start any insult slinging" Maybe it wasn't worded well enough for you, but it makes sense to me that by saying I don't "start" any insult slinging means that I don't instigate any insult slinging first. Once I'm insulted, it's fair game.
  15. So the fact that the Internet has made reasonable discourse completely impossible is just something to deal with? You started insulting first, like I said in the paragraph...I'll gladly go for it, after someone else starts it. "Lol"
  16. Who said butthurt was "cool kids' language"? If you choose to use language found on Reddit, populated by high schoolers then that's your prerogative, subject to mockery. If you ever notice, rarely do I ever start any insult slinging. Maybe abrasive and blunt, but never do I start a discussion in a derogatory manner. People talk crap on the Internet all the time, keyboard warriors because they are fairly anonymous. This entire argument with me was because people can't have a peaceful discussion without making snide comments then getting "butthurt" when called out on snide tongue in cheek comments they'd likely not make to someone's face. Maybe I don't get the antisocial aspect of the Internet well enough to coexist peacefully on it.
  17. It's not about agreeing with opinions. It's about showing an astonishingly low ability to throw your opinion out in a non-demeaning manner, something nobody on here really can do. It's a message board, nobody changes their opinion...people can't even argue effectively on here without talking down to people. Kind of pathetic, really Not to mention any one who has "grown up" would use the word butthurt. You're the same age as my parents and spend your days spewing negativity, bitching and using the word "butthurt".
  18. Little d has more character than Palm Beach and Boca Raton could ever aspire to. Little d is young, hip, cool, cultured and those two cities are plastic but also where people go to die or get bitten by sharks. Personally, I think Denton is beautiful.
  19. It's the summer. What papers am I going to be writing in the summer? I graduate next semester. And since y'all love to stalk my personal life, you should know that I'm engaged and have a lot of friends, since y'all love to google my name and look at my FB and all. I mean, come on, it's 12:30 on a Friday morning. It was a nice try, though.
  20. See, but they have a sole purpose to troll. I try to discuss UNT and football but you guys think any point that is opposite to yours is really stupid and would rather discuss pageantry, so I just revert to trolling.
  21. It's too much fun, you guys are so easy to troll when you get angry. As I've said before, I understand why the Queen, FroggyStyle and GL2greatness come back. Hilarious. You guys are, by far, the easiest to get upset and on the defensive. Just way too much fun. Especially when you consider this place is a bunch of 30-50 year old guys...LMFAO.
  22. You should keep your memes on Facebook where they belong, you know, annoying all your """friends""" and """family""". Or, maybe Reddit.
  23. The last one is my favorite. "Wants to be moderator to shut down this thread" You should probably go back to school.
  24. You have the intelligence level of a drunk 16 year old. Do you feel sad and pathetic making troll comments about a 21 year old student, as a 40/50 year old man? You should. It's kind of pathetic. You should feel very bad about yourself.
  25. I think the commuter school tag is gone. We still have UT and A&M fans (not a lot of Tech or TCU) as as students because they grew up with the idea of UNT as a commuter school. But these kids came here as their first choice from all over Texas and the US and are excited about UNT. Problem is, there has been nothing to show them that UNT isn't a joke at athletics and pride besides a cool stadium. Attendance has been impressive honestly, we were #2 in the SBC in basketball attendance and in the upper-middle in football and student attendance has been great. But we need to win to keep these kids who saw UNT as terrible athletically and pride wise from relaying that sentiment to their kids. Point to Apogee if you like, but it's no coincidence we outdraw and students WAY outdraw the crowds from the early 2000s. The mentality HAS changed. The performance hasn't.
