  1. I'm from the gulf coast, and, well, I'll not make my feelings public.
  2. No, Mac has a nice house, is settled here, has his whole family involved in UNT, and is at the age where the only way he'd leave NT is if he retired. This is his last stop. Many schools will be nervous anyway with his health problems and his overall record (which doesn't tell the story at all, rebuilding schools has this affect) but because his teams are old school, as well. We'll pony up the big bucks if this season turns out well and he'll be here for a while. I love that he has brought the Mean back but most schools won't. Makes it harder to recruit, we've seen that first hand. Unless Iowa comes knocking or a top tier SEC school, he's going nowhere. He's an old guy, of the old mind. Lot different than the 30-40 something's that keep screwing over A-State. Disagree all you want. Seems obvious to me though. So many teams are built like Oregon, not many are going to want to rebuild from the ground up unless they're desperate like we were. Old school Mac ball isn't very attractive to a lot of schools and is an endangered species in the NCAA. Furthermore, have you even watched Beyond the Green? First thing Mac did when he got here was start the "MGF" thing. He treats this like his family as well. Maybe sound like I'm trying to convince myself, but it doesn't seem likely to me that Mac goes anywhere unless his LSU comes knocking. It'll be a sad, sad day if Mac leaves us for some low tier Big 12 school. Mac keeps up his pace, he's going to be a UNT legend. I'm an unabashed Mac fanboy, so whatever.
  3. We get as much coverage as TCU does currently and more then SMU, by a decent margin in the DMN and on TV. We have a lot of grads there waiting to report on us so I think we'll be just fine if we can have a good season and beat a real team in a bowl this year.
  4. Agreed. I think fans are but the players aren't.
  5. 7-5 is definitely a disappointment.
  6. He'd say you're young and stupid if you were young.
  7. Mac and Skladany aren't going anywhere until they retire.
  8. I too old for you? Put down the alcohol. Unless you were trying to be funny, if in that case, you aren't. Pathetic.
  9. Lucky nobody gives a shit about LATech or I'd be offended.
  10. Even if we have small crowds, our crowds are always vocal. What a weak crowd, easily overpowered by 800 NT fans. Also, thank god we don't play in that stadium, I loved how George & Hank called it "Fouts east." We have it good.
  11. The North Texas chant was louder than any single Louisiana Tech cheer.
  12. Low football IQ. He won't ever learn.
  13. I predicted who started this thread before I even clicked on it. I wasn't disappointed.
  14. In your opinion. She saw an immediate spike in endowment followed by no growth...with no growth in research either. She let Cougar High pass us by, flat out, and spread no goodwill by her being okay with UNT staying as just a backup option with a commuter reputation, despite statistics pointing otherwise. She'll be remembered for starting Emerald Eagle and being pushed out by the board. Once again, we need a president like UH's, one that pulls no punches. I didn't realize Bataille had a fan club. None of you fanboys have any solid numbers to back you up, either. It's a fact that the endowment grew then stopped quickly. Research didn't ever grow. She liked Dodge for budget reasons. She didn't support Apogee. She did not improve any metric needed for tier one after the campaign started. She defended our position as second/third choice college and falsely portrayed the commuter school issue. These are numbers easily found and quotes easily found. Either way, this thread is derailed, I think we all want a president to push successfully to tier 1 and continue athletics support. I need to stop posting here. Tired of it. Think I'm gonna start a weekly allotment of 5.
  15. I completely missed that I typed chancellor. I even put president before. Not paying attention.
  16. What exactly is irony? I think you misunderstood my original post. She talked incessantly about Tier One and did very little to make it reality. Cougar High passed us up while she talked.
  17. Maybe idiot was extreme but a president that was extremely detrimental to our university.
  18. She did NOTHING to get us to Tier One other than sit by while our endowment stagnated, research dollars dropped and schools like the University of Houston and Texas Tech passed us by. She talked a big game but did very little about it. This is why she was forced out of UNT by the board of regents. All the good that Pohl did meant little because Bataille just said that we wanted to be Tier One but didn't care enough to make it happen. She was too busy making sure that UNT catered to the second-and-third choice prospective students and keeping our "commuter" status alive. She ruined the football program by pushing Dodge on RV and was difficult about Apogee. By the time I moved up here in 2006, I had a UNT alum live by me who told me all I needed to know about the rise and fall under Pohl then Gretchen, and about how she was proponent #1 for Dodge and was hesitant on Apogee and didn't actually do much to make us Tier 1 ; when I came to UNT and saw all the good that was happening fall apart my freshman year made me realize that Gretchen Bataille was an idiot. UNT has fallen behind INCREDIBLY in the Tier One race, to the point of being level with UT-freaking-A and behind UT-freaking-D mostly at her hands. We've turned it around, but everyone else has had a two year head start. We need a president, with first and foremost, guts, like Renu Khator. Before he took over, UH was a joke community college. Now it's become a decently prestigious public university.
  19. Nope. As long as we don't get an idiot like Bataille going around calling us a commuter school and doing nothing other than talking about Tier One with no actual results, I think we'll be fine. Rawlins did very well for us, and I think he'll make sure the followup is a good choice as well.
  20. It'll be close (Rice) if we win the next two games.
  21. I agree. Compared to other schools in our position, our attendance really isn't god awful. We need to be better. Far better. But still. Everyone also loves to say that attendance was weak during the Fry years but we were much smaller back then.
  22. What's incredible no matter our attendance is how we've gotten everyone wear green.
  23. Lou's, Tavern and Public House are the frat hangouts.
  24. I do.
