  1. Yikes. I didn't realize it was that bad. The dude lights his house bright green. He bleeds green. Never underestimate guys of the old guard and loyalty. We took a second chance on Mac and I think he'll be forever grateful. We've got to fix attendance, though. If we can, I think he's here until he retires.
  2. I think we'd be able to match most offers from low Big 10/12 schools. We have one of the highest CUSA budgets for next year. RV realizes how vital McCarney is.
  3. I think we need to focus on issues at home first. Such as building a fanbase. The MWC isn't going to build fanbases. Who wants to watch us play Wyoming or Colorado State?
  4. Exactly. This is why it's maddening that people blow it off. We won't sell out this week either. To be fair, Illinois ends up with about 20K empty seats each week as well. Although, is Beckman really gonna get fired from Illinois? We really need to keep him around. He's a key ingredient in home attendance. His tough, no frills football win-at-home mentality has done wonders for this program. I fear the worst if Mac leaves.
  5. Please don't ever use Picard in any of your posts ever. He doesn't approve.
  6. Weather forecast is 20% chance of AM showers. The rest of the next few days is supposed to be a disaster so we're lucky it looks like. High is now 42, so bundle up and we'll have a party at Apogee.
  7. Yay for rumor mill! I'm not concerned. These analysts can speculate all they want but I just don't see McCarney at his age leaving until the job is completely done. I think him retiring is more likely than him leaving. I feel like RV will make Mac see $$ this offseason and keep him here for a few more years.
  8. No kidding. While I hate UTSA, I'm glad they have fans. Unlike half of the MWC.
  9. Okay, Nostradamus. Seriously, you win. You can stop posting now.
  10. Plumm clearly posted on there though.
  11. You have no facilities. You won 2 recruiting battles against us this year for recruits from South Texas. You have a worse record than us. You're about to lose to us. You don't have your own stadium. 2,000 students show up if you're lucky. I guess I don't get it. UTSA fans won the battle here. I'm at a loss for words. I'm beaten down.
  12. If we're dummies then you're a poopoo head! Yeah!
  13. Excellent statistics. Thank you for that. That meshes well with those statistics I found once but can't remember where stating about 50% are within 5 miles or on campus and another 25% are within 10. On campus/off campus should be defined differently.
  14. My bad. I thought you were being passive aggressive. I'm working on not being an a-hole online anymore. My apologies.
  15. Nevermind. You're right, friendo. Campus is the same as it was in 2007.
  16. The new dorms (Honors, Traditions, Legends and to a lesser extent Mozart/Santa Fe) are really, really nice. I lived in Mozart. It was really nice, except for the window units. Clark my freshman year was a disaster...but you have to experience living in a freshman dorm, imo.
  17. Yup. I commute to UNT from Bernard St. Take a school like UH (no disrespect intended) with no apartments nearby and the majority (hefty majority) living outside of 15 miles. That can be considered a commuter school. I think the fact that we have one of the best student attendances in the mid-majors speaks for itself as far as "commuter school" goes.
  18. Take my word for it—UNT is far different now that it was in 2007. That was the bottom of school spirit. It has changed immensely since when I began at UNT in 2010. It's a completely different university. I maybe see a different university shirt once a week...and it's usually A&M shirts (Johnny Football.) It's been a long, long time since I've seen a UT shirt. That is probably not accurate anyway, or outdated information (US News) because we now have 14 different dorms on campus and there are 3 more in the works. 84% of students live on campus their freshman year as of this year. http://ntdaily.com/threes-a-crowd-at-west-hall/ Look at the demand for residence on campus. Many students live on campus their first year or two then go move into an apartment, as I did. If you've noticed, there are tons of apartment complexes surrounding the campus. The Arbors, Uptown, The Gateway, The Forum, City Park, Sterling, etc. Also many buy/rent houses in the surrounding area. We are technically all living off-campus, and although I drive to campus, I would not consider myself a "commuter" because I live 3 minutes from campus.
  19. SMU's program is in a bad, bad place right now.
  20. We are no longer a commuter school. Most of our students live within 10 miles of campus. I believe, can't remember the exact number, but roughly half live directly on or surrounding campus (within 5) and the other 25% live within 15 miles. The other 25% commute...comparable to UT, better than SMU and TCU. We have so many students wanting to live on campus that they had to put them in hotels. We are not a fallback. When polled, over half of the freshman class said NT was their first choice. Maybe UNT was your second choice and maybe you commuted but your antiquated ideas continue to damage the reputation of this university.
  21. Show me "potential" rain. 20% doesn't really count. And AM showers. It's really frustrating to keep spreading these rumors because it gets out. Weather Underground, scientifically proven the most accurate major weather forecast site, has it at 0% for Saturday.
  22. Prospective students and their families come and tour the campus. I was an ambassador last year so I was really involved with it. It's really quite fun. We need to have a great atmosphere to make what they've heard about us this year true.
  23. I think UTSA comes out fired up but then reality sets in.
  24. As I said in the other thread...22K is looking like reality. Alumni sales are decent, and it is preview day. UTSA is all talk, no game when it comes to ticket sales. 200 ticket office sales, 120 from Rowdy Talk. Preview Day will fill the Wing. It's not ideal but it's a really bad week for student attendance. UTSA has no running backs and rumor mill says Soza was banged up. It will be a fun and rowdy atmosphere for all involved. I think UTSA will realize that it's about the atmosphere and not just the numbers come Saturday.
