Las Vegas Sun: Rebels Administration Searching For Ways
meangreener replied to CMJ's topic in Mean Green Football
We've already sold 10K allotment. 5-7K from other sites. Add about 2-3K walkups. I'd say we'll sell another allotment and there will be about 10K sold total through other sites total. That's a lot of fans. Add in probably 2K from UNLV that's a nicely attended bowl. I expect the crowd to be similar to the ULL New Orleans Bowl games. -
Oh god no basketball.

Las Vegas Sun: Rebels Administration Searching For Ways

There's already about approximately 20K sold. Will be a big crowd that will help recruits and an electric atmosphere. Going to be a huge party. UNLV is going down! -
Previous Heart Of Dallas Bowl Games, MVP's and Attendance
meangreener replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If we were, what, 5-0 at one time, I feel like the stadium here would be nearly sold out. UH did beat us on attendance because of a rivalry game and a team with a big traveling fanbase. We need a rivalry game and schedule someone like BYU. Take out the BYU game and the Rice game they averaged 22,484 a game. Not much different than us. Must be rough to have fallen that far from the days of selling out Robertson every week. We didn't play a team with a big traveling fanbase. UTSA was our biggest and they probably brought maybe 1,000. -

I, as well, think we could hit 40-45K because, yes, it does look like 20K is sold already. There will be a lot of walkups as well. Very big game for us, this is a must-win. Can only imagine what would've happened had we played a bigger school. I think we could've broken 60 had we played a team with a traveling fanbase. -
I tweeted at her from my FillApogee twitter but didn't get any response.

Unsung hero of the Mean Green. -
Tried all of the famous ones I could think of. Got a response from the DJ from the Edge and the guy who works on Madden...but that's it. (In addition to Gruber and Izzy.) Was disappointed.

I reached out to them as well and received a similar answer. I think they get the point. We'll see when get response.

Students haven't shown up since the UTA game. I used to go to all the games on the first row. You think I'm the only person who quit?

Worst basketball team i've seen in 35 years
meangreener replied to untbigdaddy's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Well, I agree. I'm not happy with this situation whatsoever. I just don't think RV gets fired being the AD who hired a coach of an 8-4 ballclub with 3 impressive wins over winning teams heading to the first bowl game since 2004. Football pays the bills in Texas. RV needs to nut up and accept the experiment is done and lay out the cash for Fran. -

Are you suggesting a team that routinely sells their arena out with a history of being a national champion is on the same level as us? -

Hiring the assistant coach from Marquette looked like a genius move. I'm by no means defending Benford. He's awful. Needs to be fired. But still. -

Depends. Would you rather have Todd Dodge or Fouts? -
Exactly this. There's only so much we can do.
-
As did I. RV used to always tell his story about Oklahoma State when it was all OSU fans, and then compare it to the Tech game. We're back to the OSU game.

Like who? What teams in our situation with no basketball history went and hired a great coach after losing a great coach to the SEC? -

Benford looked like a fantastic hire originally. We stole our women's coach from Wake Forest. While he's struggling this year, team was showing promise last year. Facility improvements. Fanbase improvements. Publicity in DFW. Real UNT athletic apparel. McCarney. On our old budget, it's difficult to hire solid coaches, unless you want a revolving door like Arky State which will bite them in the ass soon. -

Settle down there on calling for RV's head. -
Benford needs to go. Team is not making any progress and we'll stick around .500 mediocrity until he goes. Benford will just schedule scrub OOCs to cushion his record.
-
I get it. 17K went to NO. You've said that many times.
-
I just think what's bad is that the students don't even recognize the team anymore. Sad, Pit Crew circa 2010 was fun.
-
Damn, that's horrible. Can't pay students to go to the games anymore, either. It's like RV doesn't get it. I miss the days of a full Pit Crew, chants, signs, basketball band going back and forth with the students, heckling the away team...Benford just KILLED the Pit Crew.

Idk, I'm a student and I see tons of stuff from UNT in my email about the bowl. Not to mention it's the talk on campus. You'd have to live under a rock and go to class blind and deaf to not know we were bowling. Hell, the provost goes "We're bowling! Get your tickets! Go Mean Green!" at commencement.
