Thought you had me on ignore?
-
Have you met him? Have you done research on his business policies? Have you even tried to say hello to him when at Gallery? (He's at the front desk.) Gallery Furniture doesn't even do that well anymore and has negative reviews because he's too caught up in his ego and being a "philanthropist." This is the guy that never says a peep about attending or playing for NT, then gives a huge donation...disagrees with the AD then proceeds to threaten to the point of blackmail to make his friend feel better about getting fired. He knew we desperately wanted that money, so he knew he could control the situation and manipulate it his way. He's a master at manipulation.

It is! I know a lot of people who went there for that program specifically. Also great political science obviously.

Also, you can't tell me Mac doesn't have his hands in every commissioner and judge's pocket in Houston. He's brilliant. Whenever he gets busted for being Houston's Tony Soprano, I won't be surprised.

I have a good friend who attends SHSU and is very dedicated to them, runs a website. Tells me stories that consistently blow my mind.

I lived there when it burned down, I know the story. Thanks. Gallery Furniture is his baby.

I think we both have valid points, I'm just not sure Chico wanted to fight against an AD for budget and dedication issues, just to end up in a dead-end job.

Certainly didn't seem like Canales was that interested in the job, from reports.

They are, but on a much smaller scale. 4,000 at a playoff game is embarrassing. SFA routinely outdraws them. Like I said, athletics is nice at SHSU but they don't back them much. Likely that Chico's contract at SHSU is the same or smaller than his UNT contract. And if "success" at SHSU gets you a job at Georgia Southern, I think he's better off waiting for a better opportunity. I've been to SHSU games and Youngstown State games. Both FCS programs. One feels like real college football, one feels like high school. It's clear SHSU's interest in athletics is very small. Anyway, my point is, that him going there is a lateral move or even worse a downgrade.

The SHSU job is not as alluring as you think. Honestly, they draw very poorly for the amount of success they have, they play in a very old stadium with a low budget. Not much campus life. Great school, but it's not somewhere you go to really massively grow your career. Their success is completely recent. I think Chico deserves an FBS shot, hope to see him take over when Mac leaves.

Search For SHSU Football Coach Continues
meangreener replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Canales just said on twitter he's staying in Denton. -
As a Houstonian raised with Mac's commercials and Gallery Furniture, let me just say, I've had some run ins with him as have many people I know...he's just a mega, self-absorbed jerk who supports UH rather than us. Personally, I also think he committed arson, burned down his warehouse to get the insurance money. Ever seen Gallery? He rebuilt it way over the top and has like monuments to the fire. Weird. His money is nice, but he should stay away.

Off Season Discussion: At What Moment Did You Think....
meangreener replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Louisiana Tech. I was sitting at a bar outside of the AAC wearing my Chancellor jersey after we had won, waiting for some friends so we could go to the Deftones concert and we had just won on the road in big fashion and some dude goes "I hear y'all are having one hell of a season up there. Looks like TCU has some competition." I can't say Ball State because while that was a great win, I got so angry watching them lose to Tulane while I was at the Canned Fest hiding from the rain sitting at Rusty Taco, so I proceeded to get so drunk that night that I don't remember anything past 7. I decided the team was cursed. Rice, I already knew what we had. Talked a lot of smack at work. Won a bet that we'd win by two touchdowns. -

meangreener replied to kakat10's topic in Mean Green Football

Canales finalist for Sam Houston HC Job?

Unfortunate for us but fantastic for him. -
NDSU is literally the only exception. Sam Houston state draws flies. Most of FCS does.

New Names on Offseason Workout Logs
meangreener replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Football
Lewis was my suite mate Freshman year, as well as a good friend and was there this year. He was just a backup. However he is graduating this Spring. -
Well, I'm 22 so I'm right in the middle. Maybe I'll have an epiphany.

Hey, I agree!

Offenses now and then are incredibly different. Naive to think differently.

Brelan Chancellor and Zach Orr will both have huge NFL careers.

I was 10. Toddler is usually used in regards to 3-5 year olds.

Finished the year in most polls ranked anywhere from 50-75 though. We averaged about 40-50 on end of the year polls, as high as 33.

We surrendered around 16 points per game this year and 14 then. But college football average scoring is about 14 points higher now than then. So it's very deceptive. We had more turnovers on average, as well, and performed better against better teams. The 2002 defense performed admirably against Sun belt schools. For whatever reason, I just have little respect for the DD-era teams. Kinda hard to when you routinely lose every OOC game.
