Didn't that vote in 2008 that built Apogee come with a delay of it being applied? I was in school at that time and for some reason I recall it being a vote in 2008 that essentially had the fee being added starting in the 2012 year. Basically meaning everybody that voted for it didn't actually have to pay for it. Am I recalling that correctly?

I should start by saying that what EM has started with on his staff over the last couple weeks looks great, no complaints here. I should end by saying that if Garrett Riley was the incoming HC and he was about to coach for the Natty, whoa. EM may end up our next McCasland, but Riley would've started with higher regard considering TCU has a punchers chance at winning it all.

I would love baseball at UNT and I would absolutely be a season ticket holder. But for so many reasons mentioned above, I've all but given up on that being a reality anytime in the next 5-10 years. Basketball should be the priority in my mind. I've heard some semblance of the quote before that "the fastest way to change the growth of athletic program at any University is with 5 scholarships on a basketball court" and I believe that's where we are and should be headed to try and change the trajectory of our athletic program. Football will follow and benefit from that too ultimately.

I don't think you can compare NCAA Basketball/Football to NCAA Baseball. Every year, the College World Series has some Northside Barber College team with a shot to win it all, which in and of itself makes the landscape of College Baseball very different. While March Madness generally offers you a team or two as a Cinderella, you don't get the Coastal Carolina, Cal St Fullerton, Rice, etc. universities as Nat'l Champions like you do in baseball. Football is even worse where I would almost argue that there are about 3 teams from 3 conferences that really have a chance to win it all. I'm sure other legitimate arguments could be made. I do think you can compare the need for a good coach to be competitive, but I think the advantage is that there are more good baseball coaches available to you than there are good football/basketball coaches. (And the basketball coach we have is undoubtedly the best we've ever had). But UNT could compete for those baseball kids. If you look at UNT softball, they're littered with talent from TX and OK and they're highly competitive. Much credit deserved to DeLong for that, but I believe we can get a guy in here with the same recruiting and coaching ability as DeLong.
