  1. There’s a right way and a wrong way to turn over your roster. Being transparent with players when there isn’t a realistic path to them getting playing time, and helping them get on at an FCS, JUCO, etc. is not foul. It happens now, there is just going to be more of it happening than pre COVID.
  2. Unless the NCAA allows more than 85 scholarships beyond 2021, and starts allowing more than 25 scholarships per class, this is going to start happening a lot more everywhere out of necessity. If it doesn’t, there are going to be far less scholarships available for high school kids. Teams are allowed 85 scholarship players who are not seniors next season, so hypothetically they could retain the same 85 in 2022 that they had in 2021. Where is the room for 2022 high school recruits if that happens? Is it fair for high school kids, good enough to play D1, unable to sign because players they are better than are hanging on at schools for 6 years because of the extra COVID season? Someone is getting screwed regardless.
  3. I’m fine with this, but it seems with Bean the best strategy is a run/read option heavy offense. Which, if we can win with that, that’s fine, but with the talent that we have recruited at receiver and tight end over the years that would leave us with a lot of untapped potential offensively. Is there someone available who can get the ball to those guys and still keep the rushing game strong and multifaceted? Could Gilmore or Drummond be that guy or would we need to look externally? Because the transfer rule is changing, this has the potential to be as much roster turnover as we have ever seen across the country. I’m partly with you on this, but I feel like it’s going to depend on a few things. Who is available, can returning guys win our coaches over, and how strongly do the coaches feel about Gilmore and Drummond? With such a logjam of underclass men QB, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see a couple leave.
  4. Yeah he was a grad transfer. Graduated a year early because he was an early enrollee so they got him as a RS JR. Similar to Joe Burrow when he went to LSU
  5. Do you think we will try and bring in a grad transfer QB to take over next season? This could even be a QB who hasn’t graduated yet as the NCAA is set to allow players to transfer once without needing to take a sit out season. Note that RS FR QB Amani Gilmore will be eligible for next season after transferring from Kentucky but the question is asking if we will add someone else.
  6. http://www.hudl.com/v/2Ed0eH Really like his film. This dude playing in between Brammer and Mose would make a pretty legit right side of the line, then let OK State Transfer Jacob Farrell battle it out with Cole Brown at LT with Gray having played pretty well at LG this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go exclusively with transfers for our remaining spots (D1 and JUCO). Between COVID’s impact on players getting an extra year of eligibility, the NCAA set to allow transfers to not have to sit out, and the NCAA still capping signings per class at 25, the high school classes of 2021 and 2022 are getting absolutely screwed and I feel bad for them. Hope we at least land of few of them who would’ve normally ended up at P5 schools.
  7. Smart dude. Also former HS teammate of Dion Novil. https://www.nfldraftdiamonds.com/2020/08/kade-parmelly/
  8. Yeah we’re going to be fine. The disappointment just comes from losing these signature OOC win opportunities in such similar fashion across the entire Mccasland era.
  9. Really disappointing showing. Against High Majors and elite mid majors we take way too long to start attacking offensively. If Zach goes through Vanover like he has been now, we probably prevent ourselves from digging such a deep hole early on. Did this against Dayton and others in previous years. And just terrible job of hitting shots, 3-point line, free throw line, and mid range. Also would like to see more of Robinson and Ousmane and less of Jackson and Wise. Much more size and offensive skill. Mccasland needs to play the best players, not over rely on the hierarchy game, if we’re gonna compete with WKU this year.
  10. One of the biggest issues we have in playing these top competition teams is passing semi open shots. Usually we’re passing those up for turnovers. Shoot with some conviction or watch them take it away. I get that they are taller and more athletic but this is pathetic, especially if we are trying to raise our standards as we up Mccasland’s pay.
  11. Going back to the SMU game, never seen a defense so poor at being out of position at the 2nd and 3rd level in the run game. Part of it is the d-line play, but still
  12. Can we sneak Bryce Drummond in under someone else’s name?
  13. I’ll never understand our coaching staff’s obsession with Pirtle
  14. Aune has avoided COVID but hasn’t been able to shake fumblitis all year
  15. Everyone second guessing going for it on 4th and 2
  16. True freshman WR Loronzo Thompson getting scored on in man coverage feels like a microcosm of this game and season
  17. I think that one was more of a coverage sack
  18. This feels like the 2016 game. Big play on offense but defense couldn’t keep momentum
  19. Even when we’re more run oriented Darden still gets his. Amazing player
  20. Unfortunately
  21. Update: I gaffed on the UTEP cancellation. That was referring to their basketball game being cancelled, not their football game
  22. UTEP-Rice and MTSU-FAU games set for tomorrow were both cancelled. Southern Miss-UAB and La Tech-FIU were also cancelled prior to today, and WKU-Charlotte was pushed back to Tuesday. We are the only game in the conference still set to be played tomorrow. Tough decisions ahead for CUSA if they plan on still playing the conference championship game. If we can win these next two, someone previously suggested CUSA step in and have us play UAB instead of UTEP on the 12th. Something like that may be the most fair. Would be great for conference leadership to step in and start being proactive instead reactive with the remaining conference slate. Edit: UTEP-Rice still on. Tweet embedded was referring to their basketball game.
  23. Right. My guess is it’s the same terms of agreement for both an NLI and yearly scholarship renewal
