  1. One of the biggest issues we have in playing these top competition teams is passing semi open shots. Usually we’re passing those up for turnovers. Shoot with some conviction or watch them take it away. I get that they are taller and more athletic but this is pathetic, especially if we are trying to raise our standards as we up Mccasland’s pay.
  2. Going back to the SMU game, never seen a defense so poor at being out of position at the 2nd and 3rd level in the run game. Part of it is the d-line play, but still
  3. Can we sneak Bryce Drummond in under someone else’s name?
  4. I’ll never understand our coaching staff’s obsession with Pirtle
  5. Aune has avoided COVID but hasn’t been able to shake fumblitis all year
  6. Everyone second guessing going for it on 4th and 2
  7. True freshman WR Loronzo Thompson getting scored on in man coverage feels like a microcosm of this game and season
  8. I think that one was more of a coverage sack
  9. This feels like the 2016 game. Big play on offense but defense couldn’t keep momentum
  10. Even when we’re more run oriented Darden still gets his. Amazing player
  11. Unfortunately
  12. Update: I gaffed on the UTEP cancellation. That was referring to their basketball game being cancelled, not their football game
  13. UTEP-Rice and MTSU-FAU games set for tomorrow were both cancelled. Southern Miss-UAB and La Tech-FIU were also cancelled prior to today, and WKU-Charlotte was pushed back to Tuesday. We are the only game in the conference still set to be played tomorrow. Tough decisions ahead for CUSA if they plan on still playing the conference championship game. If we can win these next two, someone previously suggested CUSA step in and have us play UAB instead of UTEP on the 12th. Something like that may be the most fair. Would be great for conference leadership to step in and start being proactive instead reactive with the remaining conference slate. Edit: UTEP-Rice still on. Tweet embedded was referring to their basketball game.
  14. Right. My guess is it’s the same terms of agreement for both an NLI and yearly scholarship renewal
  15. Littrell has the football program headed in the right direction. We are starting to get some serious impact play from young players on this roster who were part of elite recruiting classes, who are being followed by more elite recruiting classes. Littrell is a good coach, he has won a lot of games here already, and this is the best state our roster has been in, top to bottom, since he got here. Mccasland is special. He might be one of the best coaches we’ve ever had at North Texas. I really think he either ends up coaching a high major program or turns us into a perennial elite mid major program. Littrell is a good coach, but Mccasland is just a step above that and that’s not an indictment on Littrell.
  16. Nope http://www.nationalletter.org/frequentlyAskedQuestions/bindingAgreement.html
  17. Not sure, but the scholarship agreements are for a full-academic school year
  18. Hopefully we can keep them around 66 points like they were at last year, especially with Jones, Joe, and Whitt (their top 3 scorers from last season) all gone. We should be in good shape if that happens
  19. Jones being the first guard off the bench and playing the most minutes seems pretty indicative that we’re going to see a lot of him this year. I think the biggest issue that was causing his turnovers was his hesitancy to shoot at times. Only 5 shots in 28 minutes. It looked to me like he was overthinking things and didn’t want to shoot if it was earlier in the shot clock, maybe for fear of getting pulled for not working the ball more for a better shot. If he’s wide open early in the shot clock he should be told and feel that he has the green light. An open Rubin Jones 3 is the probably the best shot we’re going to get on that possession anyways, and if he’s open that often means other guys are covered so passing out could result in turnovers like it did last night. Both he, Ousmane, and Robinson looked very promising. Those guys look capable of starting at other CUSA schools.
  20. 126 against Arkansas Tech on 12/29/1969
  21. School record on made 3s. I believe we tied it last year against Little Rock, but surpassed it today.
  22. Guessing they were showing our record from last year
