Not the prettiest win but road conference wins are always welcome

1 down, 3 to go

Agreed. I misinterpreted your post as you saying that Kentucky’s exclusion was part of what made this ridiculous.
-
Why would they be? They’re 3-6.

I’m sorry man, it was a joke. I know you’re not supposed to give sources, but you like to ask other people so I was just poking a little light-hearted fun. Yeah I’m fine with Aune and Bean for another year, then if they still are completing 55% of their passes, give Drummond a chance. Also fine with Drummond taking over when he’s a redshirt junior. Anything Gilmore gives us is just a bonus IMO, but I don’t expect him to be completely hapless. Guess it looks like he might be, but at least we’re not too reliant in him.

Who is your source? The NFL talent was Lynn Bowden. They were 6-2 with him at QB running for 171 yards/game, so it wasn’t like any QB with a pulse should’ve been playing over him. I don’t expect Gilmore to come in and win it, but I would think he would be good enough to at least nudge his nose into the race, more than Martin. If not, no worries as I think Drummond is our guy long term anyways.

Rice is currently leading the conference at 2-0. They are the only team to sweep this past week. That’s all.

Brune and Mitchell said he looked pretty good in practices and they think he’ll be around as good as them. I don’t think that Kentucky argument is a good enough evaluation on him. He was a redshirting true freshman and they went with getting the ball in the hands of a legit NFL talent. I don’t care if he wasn’t good enough to be an SEC QB as a true freshman. Two years of developing, can he be an adequate CUSA QB?

Again, their hand has been forced. It was either allow it, allow it to only be legal for schools in states like FL and CA and risk the top players only going there, or kick schools from FL and CA out of the NCAA.
-
Right, but that’s not the same as getting a Notre Dame transfer like the Charlotte ND transfer who OkieFan was referring to. He chose to re-start his recruitment at a JUCO and see what offers he could get from there, not go directly to North Texas from ND.

Ooh boy. The NCAA is many things, but there is nothing progressive about them. They held onto players not being able to profit off of their likenesses until state legislation forced their hand. They were literally shutting down GoFundMe accounts setup by players to promote just, non-profit causes like sick family members and other charitable causes. As for the gap between G5 and P5, the only way to help that is to expand the CFP. Even within P5 the gap is widening between the teams you mentioned and the rest because the top recruits know where they have to choose to play in the CFP and Bowl Games don’t do much to drive recruit interest. NCAA has to expand to be more inclusive. Even the BCS had 8-10 teams, which created a lot of parity during that era.

The current iteration of the Lakers have won 1 championship. The NBA has traditionally lacked parity, even before players moved much via free agency. From 1980-2005, 7 different teams took turns trading those 26 championships. In the last decade of the NBA we saw 7 different teams win those 10 championships. There is at least as much parity as there always has been. Guyton was not a Norte Dame transfer. We signed him out of Trinity Valley CC.

In what way could you envision this killing college football?

Roster spots available where? Just at the FBS level, D1 level, or all levels? Also has a lot to do with seniors getting an extra year while a new class of high school and JUCO players are being added on top.

By my count, Wilson’s 10 touchdown season is the first in the NFL by a former North Texas player since Ron Shanklin in 1973.

10 touchdown season. Really impressive stuff.

Bowen was such an uninspired hire considering we were supposed to be going all out and we were making him the highest paid assistant in CUSA.
