  1. Run offense late, not Hamlet hero ball. Likely down to the wire tomorrow again so need to make those late possessions count.
  2. Rubin Jones might be our best offensive player right. We have looked pretty bad offensively with him off the court.
  3. Atrocious second half start. Smoking wide open shots and overplaying on D. All these seniors, gotta play like like it.
  4. Fedora faltered at UNC after Littrell left. Littrell has faltered at UNT since Harrell left.
  5. Being able to put himself in position to play and be the guy that early at UNC is very encouraging. That alone has me thinking he will be the guy this season.
  6. The name that lives
  7. I didn’t say he was injury prone. I was just explaining how he qualified for the medical redshirt.
  8. In order to get a medical redshirt you need to prove you missed enough of two separate seasons due to injury. Ruder had injuries in 2018 and 2019. 2018 he broke his collarbone against Ga Tech and 2019 had the broken leg that El Paso Eagle mentioned.
  9. Ryan Finley graduated from Boise State then grad transferred to NC State where he was the starter for 3 seasons. Similar to Ruder he had a couple injuries at Boise that allowed him to be granted a 6th season. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/ryan-finley-1.html
  10. Yeah I think 3 of his first 4 passes are incompletions. That’s a first from tapes I’ve seen, and they were good passes. In projecting high school QBs I want to see that completion % hovering around 60 for a high school QB, and the TD/INT ratio hopefully at least close to 3:1. Struggling to hit 50% and being under 2:1 on TD/INT ratio in all of his seasons as a starter is concerning if I’m looking at it from an unbiased standpoint, which I am. You always give a little leeway for having subpar receivers and/or bad coordinators, but his numbers weren’t pretty even accounting for some things working against him. Doesn't mean he won’t be good or that he will be inaccurate, but those numbers are concerning and it’s important to look at the body of work from a QB and not just the highlights, since every highlight film is going to make it seem like accuracy isn’t an issue. Like I said, take this commitment everyday of the week. Whether it’s a 2-star, 3-star or 4-star, no other offers or a bunch of P5 offers, I try to keep bars like that consistent for all of them, then add context.
  11. From the VIP article I posted earlier in the thread: “A prospect that likely saw his recruitment hindered by COVID-19 restrictions, I'm told he's a prospect some coaches are high on at various Power Five programs. However, few were able to pull the trigger due to varying circumstances.” https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Dillion-Williams-North-Texas-Mean-Green-Football-Recruiting-2021-Commits-160323881/
  12. Looking at his high school stats, they aren’t eye-popping like most P5 QB Signees, especially against pretty tame competition. His completion percentage in his 3 seasons as a full-time starter were: 45.7%, 50.8%, and 48.1%. His best season was his junior season where he threw for 1,598 yards with 14 TDs against 8 INTs on 50.8% completion. We temper our expectations on Bryce Drummond and his 72.5% completion this season because it was against small OK schools. Ruder struggled to get over 50% against small KS schools. Ruder’s rushing stats were pretty solid including going for 1,032 rushing yards his senior season. Good news is we are getting him in his fourth year of college football and still have up to four seasons remaining, so strives should be expected. He clearly has the skills you can’t teach and throws a good ball. You take this commitment every day of the week. https://www.maxpreps.com/m/athlete/jace-ruder/H1DaeiQlEeS00gAmVebEWg/football-fall-17/stats.htm

  14. One extra year of eligibility because of COVID, one because of injury.
  15. He has 4 years of eligibility remaining. Says he is graduating from UNC in May so don’t expect him on campus for spring ball.
  16. Another one. Maybe this means we are starting to see the transfer portal giving instead of taking from us.
  17. Not defending the move but Passwaters went from GA to Quality Control coach to now a position coach. That, preceded by a D1 playing career, is the standard path to becoming a D1 position coach. When Littrell was hired, his first receiver coach was Joel Filani, who was also coming off of his one and only season as a QC Coach at Washington State, and was a grad assistant prior to that. I completely get the frustration at him being an in-law, and I definitely agree that more qualified candidates exist, but going from a QC Coach to a position coach is how it works. Having a QC title means you are qualified to try and make that jump to position coach.
  18. For reference
  19. This is the only offer I have seen go out to class of 2021 since the December signing day. https://247sports.com/player/trey-moore-46111689/ The expectation is definitely that those spots will be used on immediate help guys to defense. That would be transfers and JUCO guys who are about to have their seasons. Unless there are some guys Bennett is eyeing, seems most logical that we watch the JUCO season and offer guys who blow up this spring, which means saving those spots for then, and going with D1 transfers who signing day is irrelevant to.
  20. Passwaters is probably the most apt name for a Hawaii coach of all time
  21. I think Littrell, and probably Bloesch, really likes Aune. Littrell sounded really excited about Aune going forward on Brune’s podcast this week. Back before the UTEP game, Barnett asked Littrell in the pre-game show about Bean’s development and Littrell went out of his way to praise Aune as well and talk about how well he had been practicing and how he planned to work Aune into that UTEP game. Then Littrell pulls Bean after that 1st drive fumble and Aune goes on to put up 300 yards and 5 TDs that game. Bean transferring seems to indicate the coaches had chosen to go with Aune for next year as well. After him it will be interesting to see if Gilmore can rise up the depth chart, even though a few posters on here have indicated the early reports on Gilmore in practice weren’t good. Martin seems like a decent backup and if he has been ahead of Kuehne the past two seasons, hard to imagine that changing. Drummond will be fun to watch, and he might actually be talented enough to compete but hopefully our focus with him will be on developing him first.
