  1. Would be a really good fit. I know receiver isn’t a position with a lot of need, but while we have good talent there we aren’t as deep numbers wise.
  2. How would it have been a grades issue if he graduated? Or did he not actually graduate? He was billed as a grad transfer and immediately eligible because of it, before the NCAA made every first-time transfer eligible
  3. We did not make his top 20
  4. Great job pulling all of this. From what I have seen, even the people covering the team aren’t sure what to make of the potential ramifications. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the NCAA is allowing each conference to make a determination by February 26th on if they are going to hold a conference tournament or just send their 1st place team as the conference representative to the NCAA tournament.
  5. Two key starters. Looks like they may be automatically suspended for the first game of the weekend but not 100% sure.
  6. Loyola is up to 22nd in the country and just beat Drake, 19-1 entering the game, by 27 points on Drake’s floor.
  7. Great start to the half. One of our best stretches in conference play.
  8. These LONG offensive droughts are killing us. 5+ minutes. We survived against La Tech because we built up such a huge early lead, and we might survive it tonight against this level of competition, but if we are still letting this happen in the conference tournament we’ll get knocked out.
  9. Exactly. That doesn’t mean he is a for sure starter, but we know we have a proven CUSA starter. And if he’s not starting, that’s probably even better news that our starters are good enough to relegate a CUSA starter to being a rotation/depth guy.
  10. Unless we add a couple transfer safeties, I would expect Gaddie at safety. The only other scholarship safeties on our roster are Keelan Crosby, Alex Morris, and Jordan Nichols, then we have a couple true freshmen joining in the summer. Meanwhile at CB we have Stout, who is probably the most sure-fire starter, then a big group of guys who have experience and/or are touted transfers like Tyrae Thornton, Jordan Rucker, John Davis, Quinn Whitlock, and Logan Wilson. But Bennett could also choose to re-assess things from where guys were at the end of the season.
  11. This was Rice transfer DB Tyrae Thornton
  12. A lot of our offers going out right now are starting to go to 2023 kids. Mainly due to to the extra COVID year, on our roster we only have 6 scholarship seniors. We likely won’t have a lot of scholarships available to honor in the 2022 class, especially if the guys we fill our roster with end up being multi-year guys (non-seniors). The 2021 HS class got screwed, both because of the guys ahead of them getting an extra COVID year, because of the immediate eligibility transfer rule, and because the class limit is still 25 with those transfers counting towards that cap. For similar reasons, the 2022 class is getting squeezed, and I would expect those offers to roll out slowly and very judiciously.
  13. You guys wanted transfers. At cornerback we have: Tyrae Thornton, former starting CB at Rice John Davis, Texas Tech transfer Jordan Rucker, Purdue transfer Logan Wilson, ULM transfer and 2019 Kansas State signee
  14. Will come in as a redshirt junior. Made 11 starts at cornerback in 2019 as a redshirt sophomore, 4 starts as a redshirt freshman in 2018. Put his name in the portal before the season started. https://riceowls.com/sports/football/roster/tyrae-thornton/5014
  15. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-football-podcast-with-QB-Jace-Ruder-160673100/ Brune had Ruder on his podcast. Pretty good stuff in here. I think this will be our guy this season.
  16. I think Caleb Johnson in the slot receiver rotation is almost a given. Harold West at safety is the other one I think has the best combination of being ready and having a solid path to early playing time.
  17. If you look at our current roster, by my estimation we have about 78 scholarship players, of which only about 6 are seniors and 8 are juniors. If we go 5-7 in 2021, then 8-4 in 2022, chances are our 2023 team will be loaded with 3rd and 4th year starters. We’ll have significant proven experience. Offensively we are probably looking at starting 8 underclass men and defensively have a bunch of underclassmen building blocks like the Murphy twins, Mccrae, Gaddie, Upton Stout, and a lot of other young talent we haven’t seen as much yet but will over the next couple seasons.
  18. We need these wins. After these guys we have 4 of probably the best 5 teams in conference remaining, with the other team in that top 5 being La Tech who we just played. Excluding us of course.
  19. 4 straight games that came down to the last full possession. As evenly matched as two teams can be.
  20. Hamlet can’t get a call. He has had some ridiculous no calls on his drives.
  21. We almost landed Crawford
