  1. The chance to address that issue was the offseason and we didn’t. We have to live with the team we have and these are the guys who need to be on the court right now, for better or worse.
  2. Please tell me which sub gives us a better chance here. The ones who don’t play don’t play because they don’t have any offensive game.
  3. What a cheap ass call on that close out by Bell. Just terrible given any situation, but especially this one.
  4. Hard to make jump shots on tired legs, unfortunately. Hope we can dig deep
  5. 2nd time Frampton’s flops have worked. They’re pretty obvious too. Not good, CUSA refs.
  6. Rick V took over as AD at SMU? How did I miss this news?
  7. We have played 5 games against them over the past two seasons and the margin in those 5 games combined is 2 points in our favor. These teams are as evenly matched as it gets. No matter how bad either fan base is perceiving that their team is playing, these are all close games that could go either way because they’re evenly matched, not because one superior team is underachieving that day.
  8. He’s back!
  9. How is that not a foul on Pemberton undercutting Reese? And Lofton was grabbing and twisting McBride’s leg in the open earlier and nothing called. These are big no calls that should be obvious. Otherwise officiating has been okay.
  10. Murray has played well in Frisco but I don’t know why he didn’t just drop that off to Reese with no other defender anywhere close.
  11. I’m hoping he can be like James Reese. Stone is 6’4”, has some solid athleticism, and can shoot threes well. Doesn’t have to be overly capable at creating his own shot if he does those things well, similar to Reese. I don’t get the Morgan pickup either, but hoping he can bring some energy and athleticism to the table. From the little film I have seen it has mainly just been dunks, not much showcasing skills like a post-up game. But if he can do the dirty work then that will do.
  12. He was huge. They didn’t respect his shooting and sagged off on him and he made them pay.
  13. Great win! Furthest we have advanced since the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Finals appearance. Last four standing are probably the four best teams and four strongest programs in CUSA right now. Should be great basketball coming tomorrow.
  14. Terrible mental lapse. Even more frustrating after Hamlet getting whacked on his way to the basket with yet another no call in that type of situation
  15. Definitely. Also, if McBride could step up and just give us a solid 8 points a night and be a respectable three-point threat that would go a long way in helping out Hamlet, Reese, Bell, and Simmons.
  16. JUCO football season starts this month. Could see new offers going out to guys who have standout seasons. Otherwise yeah, probably just D1 transfers over the summer to round things out.
  17. If Javion plays like this I feel confident we will at least be in it at the end of the game against anyone.
  18. Please don’t speak this possibility into existence.
  19. Completely agree. I just don’t understand why he uses scholarships on guys who can’t shoot, then can’t trust those guys on the court because of that. Surrounding Hamlet with Reese, Gibson, Draper, and Smart (to a degree), plus having a potent stretch-four in Bell was lethal last year. We had an incredibly efficient offense because we had an elite penetrator surrounded by plus shooters. Recruiting has gotten better, but that needs to continue. I’d rather see us go into a season short a guy or two than give those scholarships to guys who will tie up that scholarship for 2-4 years and never become rotation players.
  20. Something to keep in mind with McBride, while his percentage was good at his JUCO, he didn’t take a ton of threes. He only took 3.5 threes per game, so while his percentage was good he didn’t have the volume to really solidify the legitimacy there. The year before he shot more threes and only made 33.6%. Translating 3-pt shooting numbers to the next level is a lot more trustworthy when the volume is there to go with it. James Reese was taking close to 6 a game at Odessa in his JUCO season. I think McBride does have a green light, but he has really struggled against CUSA and higher opponents. He was lighting it up early when the space to shoot was big, then has really struggled hitting open 3s when the close out defender gets close. That’s the shot you have to hit at this level. Hoping he is more ready for that next year, as he should be now with some CUSA experience.
  21. Our bench plus McBride combined to score a whopping 9 points this weekend. 9 points scored by guys not named Hamlet, Reese, Bell, and Simmons. A colossal indictment on our recruiting. Jahmiah Simmons has taken up a scholarship on our roster for 4 straight years. Wise took up a scholarship the last 3. We have two guys under 6 feet tall who can’t shoot taking up scholarships, which wouldn’t be as bad if they were our 12th and 13th players, but they aren’t. The only 4 guys on this roster who score are all seniors. Mccasland needs to get real with this roster and stop filling it with guys who can’t shoot, especially when he can’t put these guys on the court because of their lack of offensive ability.
  22. Ooh, lot to get in here but for now will just say Mccasland’s style is to play slow and work for a good shot later in the shot clock. Comes back to bite us with the turnovers that come as a result of holding onto the ball so long and not playing decisively early in the shot clock. And with not a lot of shot makers on the roster puts a lot of pressure on a few guys to make shots that are often less than ideal when up against the shot clock.
  23. North Texas 44 - UAB 48 7:55 2nd Half Big run by us going, fueled by some forced turnovers and Hamlet and Bell finishing on the offensive end
