  1. Kimbrough commits to Hartford
  2. Here is Brune’s assessment on Saturday (VIP Article) https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-football-Spring-scrimmage-notes-MVPs-163185593/ Gave offensive MVP to Aune, defensive MVP to Murphy Twins. Said Aune was in control of the offense, had a few overthrows, but also had some drops from Loronzo Thompson who was otherwise impressive from the slot. Won’t give away anymore since it’s VIP but similar takeaways to those on the board.
  3. Littrell loves to bring him up. He has mentioned Roberts many times in interviews unprompted. Roberts also seems to be among the weight room or academic MVPs that the twitter account shouts out just about every time. He immediately won that starting H Back role as well. Definitely easy to picture him playing an even bigger role this year.
  4. I’m kind of confused by your stance on Bean. In one thread you’re reiterating your statement from last season that we didn’t have the QB who could lead us on the roster last season (including Bean), and here you’re basically saying “I told you so” about him possibly starting at Kansas. The funny thing is, I feel like you started making those statements about even Bean not being the long-term guy while he was putting together some pretty respectable passing performances together against La Tech and App State.
  5. That is a 9-12 month rehab timeline for an injury that occurred in September 2018. Were there ever any reports or anything that he had some extended rehab period? Otherwise it’s hard to believe his rehab period was still occurring all that far into the 2019 season, or anytime after that.
  6. I feel like Damon Ward is a guy who, if he was on the team in the McCarney era, would be a key receiver for the team. It’s a tough team to break that rotation.
  7. I was making a joke by continuing the trend of saying you said things you didn’t actually say.
  8. No. @Unclesaid it was unrelated to the injury.
  9. And why is it that you’re saying Wren Baker is leaving? What will (won’t) you say next?
  10. That is a fake Rothstein account
  11. Yeah, given Kimbrough’s lack of shooting, I would think he would play the 5 here so that seems likely to be a Simmons replacement. A duo of Ousmane and Kimbrough at the 5 would be a good combo in that we’d have a more athletic big in Kimbrough and a back-to-the-basket scoring big who is more grounded in Ousmane. Kind of like a speed/power running back combo. Even if it’s not Kimbrough, that would be the type of big I want complementing Simmons or Ousmane. In the case of both, but especially Abou, you give up some quickness and athleticism at the 5. Especially against the better teams on the schedule.
  12. Has NOT committed but sounds like we are recruiting him and he will be coming to a decision soon. Not a full-time starter but rotation player for La Salle the last three seasons. Kind of seems like a big man in the Deng Geu mold. Tall, slender, athletic big man, not much of a shooting threat. Junior, would have two seasons of eligibility left. Free story from Brune. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Transfer-forward-Jared-Kimbrough-discusses-recruitment-options-163116388/Amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  13. Same as the AP Ranking of Louisville back in February 1971, the last time we beat a ranked opponent. #15 Louisville at Freedom Hall.
  14. Another big job opening in the area.
  15. Yeah top 25 teams get grad transfers all the time.
  16. If those type of schools offer, there is likely no raise we could offer that would make a difference there. Raises aren’t enough to put us in the same ballpark of pay.
  17. NCAA changed their rules in December to allow players a one-time sit-out free transfer from D1 to D1, or FBS to FBS in football.
  18. McCarney made some pretty grandiose proclamations while recruiting a couple of my friends who ended up going to Oregon. “Why not North Texas?” When things started going south here he was very quick to bring up the shortcomings and obstacles of achieving success here. I don’t have ire towards McCarney overall, but I would prefer not to hear that level of BS coming out of any of our coaches mouths again.
  19. Here’s a perspective I’d like to touch on. Does James Reese, or any future departing senior leaving, think NT has gone as far as it ever will in basketball? I don’t think so but I do think it’s fair to imagine they don’t think there is much of a clear path to replicate the success next year. Especially if they have knowledge that Hamlet is gone, which seems likely. In other words, maybe they don’t think this is as far as NT will ever go, but they may think it is as far as NT will ever go while they still have eligibility.
