  1. Lol, SIR! He has special teams highlights on his film and blocked two punts in one game in 2019.
  2. This is likely going to be an issue as long as the superclass of 2020 and 2021 still has eligibility.
  3. Correct. 2022 high school class is going to get squeezed, then 2023 probably will too. We have 66 scholarship players at the moment who are underclass men. Adding two recruiting class on top of that is going to be impossible if the team limit stays at 85, or if the budget does not allow for more. Likely will mean the end of the roster guys are going to essentially start getting cut, and unfortunately will mean less likely for them to find a landing spot. A huge amount of transfers or “cuts” is inevitable.
  4. Sounds great. Seems like a solid special teams addition at the very least
  5. For sure. Defensively we kept all of our experience (except Cam Johnson) and have added some solid options through the transfer portal. Bennett should have enough puzzle pieces to make things work, just have to see how quickly he can put it all together.
  6. Unofficial visit lined up to North Texas in a few weeks.
  7. Not to mention Tennessee, Houston, and Virginia thought highly enough of his practice film to offer him out of the portal. Also, said this in another thread but most of our portal losses have been guys who couldn’t get off our bench. Trading guys who couldn’t get off your bench for guys who couldn’t get off ranked teams’ benches seems like a good trade off. Simpson, Shorter, Loronzo Thompson, Bryson Jackson, Detraveon Brown, Caleb Johnson, and Bush are all either proven or guys who were legit P5 recruits and we don’t have any evidence that they can’t get it done at the G5 level. We don’t need them all to be all-conference guys, just need 4 or 5 of them to be reliable playmakers and we’ll be tough.
  8. Also, the incoming freshmen have been added to the roster
  9. Updated scholarship rundown by my count: 81 scholarship players 39 offense/42 defense by class: 7 seniors 8 juniors 18 sophomores 16 redshirt freshmen 32 true freshmen by position: OL - 13 WR - 9 TE - 6 RB - 5 QB - 6 DL - 17 LB - 11 DB - 14
  10. Shorter was healthy for spring so should be behind him.
  11. We have 9 scholarship receivers projected to be on the 2021 roster and 7 of them had P5 offers out of high school. One of the two who didn’t is Jyaire Shorter, who had Houston and a host of G5s, and 9 receiving TDs as a redshirt freshman. Feels like a matter of who will make the group successful, not if.
  12. Seems like we are losing guys who never contributed at a G5 (us) and replacing them with P5 transfers who never contributed at their P5. Nice to have them supplementing our starters instead of relying on them to replace.
  13. Will be a redshirt sophomore. Originally from SA area. Second SEC transfer to us this week.
  14. Officially committed Will be a redshirt sophomore this season
  15. In the spring season he played four games and had 40 tackles with 4 TFLs. https://citadelsports.com/sports/football/stats/2020 He has 2 years of eligibility left and has 23 career starts at the D1 level. https://citadelsports.com/sports/football/roster/sean-thomas-faulkner/6424 Based on his film I would expect him to be that rover/level two safety. Also has a lot of special teams highlights.
  16. With Walker gone, by my count 48 of our 78 scholarship players are freshmen, of the true or redshirt variety. There is not room to keep them all and continue adding classes each year. We would never want 48 seniors leaving our roster all at once. Some have to leave and it makes sense for those to be the ones who aren’t factoring into the rotation.
  17. UTSA insider JJ Perez has put in a crystal ball prediction for Bush to commit to UNT. Schertz is in the SA area so that would make sense how Perez is getting some intel.
  18. Yup, completely agree on everything you said.
  19. He is Bennett’s son in law (or about to be). It’s definitely a buddy hire lol. Doesn’t mean he can’t be good, but it definitely is a buddy hire. Maybe even a step above that. What is Passwaters’ high upside based on? Besides him being a first-time coach? Not sure how that alone makes him “extremely high upside.”
  20. Disagree on the last part. I think it would be because of coaching. Getting a group with this many players who P5s and many G5s evaluated as scholarship worthy would mean that dozens of coaches missed, not just our coaches. Our DL coach has never been higher than a Quality Control assistant on the offensive line so there is some big concern there. He has the talent to work with, so the pressure is on for him to get that group to produce.
  21. The group of recruits that we have brought in to play d-line is like nothing we’ve seen in the recruiting website era. Can we get them to translate is the question. Here is what the group is looking like: DT - SR Dion Novil (1st team all-CUSA) DE/DT - SO Davontae Mccrae (JUCO offers from Missouri, Arizona, Miss State, Houston, Colorado, etc.) DEs - RS FR Murphy Twins (led team in sacks after switching to DE halfway through season) DE - SR Kameron Hill (all-Southland DE from ACU) DT - RS FR Enoch Jackson (HS offers from Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Florida, etc.) DE/DT - FR Kortlin Rausaw (HS offers from Colorado, Iowa State, Boise State, etc.) DE/DT - FR Jonathan Pickett (HS offers from Arizona State, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, BYU, etc.) DT - FR Tashoyn Johnson (was starting as a true freshmen by conference play) DT - SR Caleb Colvin (entering third year as rotation player) DT - RS SO Dayton Leblanc (entering third year as rotation player) DT - SO Kelvin Hutchings (JUCO flipped from La Lafayette) We have no shortage of rotation players and no shortage of players who were recruited by P5 schools. No reason this can’t be an above average CUSA unit.
  22. 4 years to play 4, by the way. Redshirt freshman.
