Shakeem Alcindor post-UNT update
BillySee58 replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Not bad. Also the fact that this is what he’s producing as a 22-year old playing almost exclusively 18-20 year olds at the JUCO level is pretty indicative that he was not CUSA caliber and wasn’t going to be. Hope the JUCO exposure allows him to find a good school where he can play. -
‘21 JUCO F Dalen Ridgnal (Cowley College)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Basketball Recruiting
Looks like he led the nation in rebounding. Here are some highlights from his freshman season on his Twitter. -
6’6” 200 lb forward for Cowley College. Star player on the team that finished runner up to commit Tylor Perry and Coffeyville at the NJCAA national tournament. Original from Kansas City, MO. We have offered. Also holds offers from Georgia, St. Bonaventure, Sam Houston State, Texas State, and East Carolina among others. Averaged 21.1 points/game, 12.8 rebounds/game, 2.0 assists/game, 2.3 steals/game, and 2.2 blocks/game. Shot 38.7% from three with over 2 makes/game, also shooting 47.5% from the field and 83.7% from the free throw line. Absolute monster stats. Sophomore so would still be a sophomore next season. https://www.verbalcommits.com/players/dalen-ridgnal https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2020-21/div1/players/dalenridgnal4nur

Jones commits to Buffalo. Think they got a good one here.

'21 PG Offer: Terry Roberts; FL Southwestern St.: 2 Star

Commits to Bradley -
Injury didn’t have anything to do with it. 2 years here, sat out a season at McNeese after transferring, then played 2 more. COVID will allow him a 6th season next year like many regular redshirt seniors across the country.

I agree. Even if the 3 spots get filled successfully, it might still result in a team predicted to finish middle of the pack. We used our last 4 spots in 2019 on Javion Hamlet, James Reese, Deng Geu, and Thomas Bell and that didn’t vault us to a top preseason CUSA ranking. Mccasland’s specialty has been putting teams that work together on the court even if they don’t blow people away with how they look on paper.

Commit Tylor Perry Earns NJCAA Tourney MVP
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Should fit in really well here. I think we’re going to see Mccasland land some real stud JUCO sleepers here as everyone else turns their attention towards D1 transfers in the portal. -
Perry wins the MVP as Coffeyville wins the NJCAA D1 National Championship. Impressive run from the 10 seed.

2013 vs 2017 offensive trio
BillySee58 replied to NorthTexasSportsNetwork's topic in Mean Green Football
Don’t understand what’s tough. 2017 trio is better at each position by a considerable margin, except maybe receiver but Guyton has done things as a receiver at the college and NFL level that Brelan didn’t. -
DRC: OL Anterrious Gray has entered the NCAA transfer portal
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Good news is we had co-starters at RG at the beginning of the year so we have two guards on the roster with experience. Also Jett Duncan seemed to make a strong early impression as a true freshman and was Gray’s immediate backup on the depth chart. -
Lands at DII West Texas A&M

'22 PF Offer: Alex Anamekwe; McKinney: 2 star

Thomas Bell 2.0, right handed version -
Let’s try and look at this from an unbiased standpoint to back that claim. Let’s say another school in our conference lost 3 starters and was going into the season with the following starting lineup: PG: 5’11” JUCO signee with offers from ETSU, UIC, Montana State, and Florida Gulf Coast SG: Returning starter coming off 7.7 points/game SF: 6th man coming off 6.2 points/game PF: Returning starter coming off 10.4 points/game C : Bench player coming off 2.9 points/game If this was a team not named North Texas coming into next season with a lightly recruited JUCO PG and the other four starters coming off of 27.2 points/game combined, would we be looking at that as a top end CUSA starting lineup on paper? I like the way the team is shaping up with 3 spots left to use, but it’s hard to say that is currently a top-end CUSA starting lineup without personal biases.

Making the NCAA round of 32 makes it the best season in program history, regardless of which team you think was the best.

NCAA looks ready to pass the one-time no sit transfer rule
BillySee58 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Guyton transferred from a junior college so he could’ve transferred from us without sitting out a year under the current rules. That being said, I doubt he would have since he just chose to go pro instead. -

I hope we land Curtis Jones too. I love his floor game and his size as a 6’4” point guard. Jones does a great job getting to the middle of the paint and forcing post defenders and wing defenders to collapse on him giving him wide open looks for the offensive post player and spot up shooters. Perry on the other hand is great at creating his own shot and bombing threes efficiently but not as effective at getting good looks for others. Jones averaged 5.5 assists per game to Perry’s 2.5. I think Perry would be really good off the bench as a 6th man. Sort of like a DJ Draper who is able to run point or kill teams with his off-ball shooting. Then use the last two spots we have on a big who can either start over Ousmane or at least rotate with him, and a forward who can play the 4 and rotate with Bell. Preferably a stretch 4 like Bell. Old habits die hard. Even in the transfer portal era Mccasland still seems to be favoring his JUCO roots.
