  1. Yeah but QBs don’t often make decisions on staying at a school based on hope that the slightly older QB will forego eligibility. Even before transferring was as common as it is now, QB transferring was already common if a QB lost out to another who was either younger or had about the same eligibility left.
  2. He broke his collarbone in 2018, then broke his leg in 2019, which allowed for him to attain a hardship waiver for one of those seasons since both injuries occurred prior to him playing in 1/3 of the team’s games. Due to one of those seasons counting as a conventional redshirt and applying a hardship waiver to the other, he entered 2020 as a redshirt freshman. Because everyone’s eligibility was frozen this past year, he enters 2021 as a redshirt freshman.
  3. If Ruder wins the job I would be surprised to see Drummond stick around, since Ruder is technically a redshirt freshman still. Sitting behind a guy for four years in hopes of becoming a starter as a redshirt senior is not a very desirable situation.
  4. I posted the stat previously but of Deonte Simpson’s 517 receiving yards, the number of those that came from Aune was around 453 yards. Simpson is the Z receiver which means he is the outside receiver on the far side of the field (if the ball is on the left hash, Simpson will be lined up along the right sideline). The coaches did not trust Bean throwing this far across the field, but they did with Aune. Simpson had 360 receiving yards in the 4 games where Aune took the majority of the snaps (SMU, USM, Charlotte, UTEP). That’s over a 1,000 yards pace for a 12 game season. Whether it is Aune or Ruder, having a QB with the arm strength to make throws all over the field is really going to make us tough to defend. The playbook is going to be wide open for either of them, just a matter of who can execute more consistently.

  6. 6’4” 220 lb tight end from Carrollton Creekview. Had 34 catches for 605 yards and 10 TDs as a junior. Has 8 other FBS offers including a few P5 offers in GA Tech, Minnesota, and Maryland. We do not show an official offer yet but he is visiting campus per his Twitter. https://247sports.com/player/sean-sallis-46058252/
  7. Official visits are typically taken in the fall on game days.
  8. Looks like Loronzo Thompson was the huddle 1 slot receiver in spring.
  9. I feel like we overstate how much Littrell “rotated” last year. We rotated QBs for the first game and a half of last season, and that was really it. He settled on Aune by the second half of the second game. Aune blew the opportunity by having an awful half at MTSU, but it’s not like Littrell was still rotating QBs. Aune’s turnovers necessitated a change. Then Bean lit it up and again, Littrell held firm with Bean rather than continuing to rotate. Only went back to Aune after a lengthy stretch of subpar passing performances from Bean and stuck with Aune the rest of the UTEP game. My point is, Littrell made it clear last year that he didn’t want to rotate QBs. He made in-game QB changes, but the rotating was done by halftime of the SMU game. I expect something similar this year unless Ruder just comes in and wins the competition hands down. Probably see them both in the first two games then roll with one from there on out.
  10. This is for conference games only
  11. Keep in mind Simmons never even averaged in the 28-32 minute range, although he came close a couple times. We have 80 minutes a game to distribute to our 4 and 5 positions. Bell and Wright are probably gonna push for 28-30 minutes themselves so if Abou can give us 20, that’s all of our 4 and 5 minutes. That’s how Mccasland has done it the past two seasons. 3 posts splitting the 80 minutes. This past season in tournament play it was Bell, Simmons, and Ousmane with a little bit of Mykell Robinson and the previous season it was Geu, Simmons, and Bell. Another guy for depth would be nice but Bell, Wright, and Ousmane splitting the 80 minutes seems like a pretty solid group on paper.

  13. Perry is 5’10”. Hard for me to envision him as a wing. But I could definitely see Browne starting, but I think he’d start over Perry instead of Jones. I think Jones is a big part of the plan. If I had to put money on who the leading scorer would be I’d go with Jones at the moment.
  14. So right now we’re probably looking at: 1 - SO Tylor Perry 2 - JR Mardrez McBride 3 - FR Rubin Jones 4 - SR Thomas Bell 5 - SR Hameir Wright bench: G - JR Rasheed Browne C - FR Abou Ousmane G - SR JJ Murray G/F - FR Matthew Stone G/F - FR Aaron Scott F - SR Jahmiah Simmons C - FR Chrisdon Morgan Right now we have one spot left. Not sure what our biggest need is at the moment. My first thought is another player who can be a stretch four and potentially take over that spot next year after Bell and Wright leave. If Jahmiah Simmons is still on the team I think it would be ideal to not have to rely on him to be a rotation player. The other option that makes most sense IMO is an off-ball shooting wing. We have Matthew Stone and Aaron Scott for that role already but a wing or guard with some size would give us another option in case they need more time to acclimate.
  15. Wow! Landing a 3-year starter at a high major has to be a first for us in program history. Offensive numbers don’t look great but he has played a lot against tough competition. Gotta imagine he’s gonna be a tough customer down low against CUSA competition.
  16. Yeah. We only had two on the roster. This thing of only have two on the roster has come back to bite us on these end of year slumps we have continually hit. Don’t have Hamlet to play near 40 minutes either. Also, all three of these point guards can and have played off the ball. Perry is much more a shoot-first PG, Rubin Jones is sort of a combo guard and split time playing on and off the ball last year, and Browne played off the ball for Texas A&M CC. Still have two spots left to address inside.
  17. Stats last season in 6 games with Texas A&M Corpus Christi: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/rasheed-browne-1.html Stats with his JUCO. Averaged 9.2 assists per game so should be a guy who can play off the ball or run the point: https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2019-20/players/rasheedbrowne6hhy
  18. Big man supposed to be in town this week.
