  1. Perry is 5’10”. Hard for me to envision him as a wing. But I could definitely see Browne starting, but I think he’d start over Perry instead of Jones. I think Jones is a big part of the plan. If I had to put money on who the leading scorer would be I’d go with Jones at the moment.
  2. So right now we’re probably looking at: 1 - SO Tylor Perry 2 - JR Mardrez McBride 3 - FR Rubin Jones 4 - SR Thomas Bell 5 - SR Hameir Wright bench: G - JR Rasheed Browne C - FR Abou Ousmane G - SR JJ Murray G/F - FR Matthew Stone G/F - FR Aaron Scott F - SR Jahmiah Simmons C - FR Chrisdon Morgan Right now we have one spot left. Not sure what our biggest need is at the moment. My first thought is another player who can be a stretch four and potentially take over that spot next year after Bell and Wright leave. If Jahmiah Simmons is still on the team I think it would be ideal to not have to rely on him to be a rotation player. The other option that makes most sense IMO is an off-ball shooting wing. We have Matthew Stone and Aaron Scott for that role already but a wing or guard with some size would give us another option in case they need more time to acclimate.
  3. Wow! Landing a 3-year starter at a high major has to be a first for us in program history. Offensive numbers don’t look great but he has played a lot against tough competition. Gotta imagine he’s gonna be a tough customer down low against CUSA competition.
  4. Yeah. We only had two on the roster. This thing of only have two on the roster has come back to bite us on these end of year slumps we have continually hit. Don’t have Hamlet to play near 40 minutes either. Also, all three of these point guards can and have played off the ball. Perry is much more a shoot-first PG, Rubin Jones is sort of a combo guard and split time playing on and off the ball last year, and Browne played off the ball for Texas A&M CC. Still have two spots left to address inside.
  5. Stats last season in 6 games with Texas A&M Corpus Christi: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/rasheed-browne-1.html Stats with his JUCO. Averaged 9.2 assists per game so should be a guy who can play off the ball or run the point: https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2019-20/players/rasheedbrowne6hhy
  6. Big man supposed to be in town this week.
  7. Number 1 on my wishlist right here
  8. Wondering if it may be an event in lieu of the official visits they never got to have.
  9. None of the transfers have been added yet, unless they were on campus in the spring.
  10. Ooh, just now seeing this. Hell yeah!
  11. Maybe, but the incoming freshmen have been listed on the roster for weeks now. Except him.
  12. Couldn’t find my last thread but the roster has been updated for incoming freshmen and with players’ new numbers. Some interesting new number choices. All of the freshmen we were expecting to appear are showing up except Running Back Signee Keith Jackson. Still May so hopefully he makes it just fine, but a little concerning. Also, the newer transfer portal commits are not on the roster yet (Tommy Bush, Enoch Jackson, Dillon Francis, Sean-Thomas Faulkner, etc.) https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/2021?&sort=class
  13. Again, I think this would not be as big an issue if a full senior class had not been given eligibility to come back next year. If those guys had been pushed out 1. Less players would have transferred out to find playing opportunities elsewhere and 2. Teams would be more inclined to keep their players since they would already be losing seniors so losing a bunch to the portal but only being able to bring in 25 would mean losing more players than they can sign. Tykieast Crawford’s can happen, but they can and have happened before the transfer portal as well. Maybe they will happen more frequently now, but I don’t think that’s enough to alter your recruiting.
  14. Going away? No. But there are undoubtedly less HS kids getting FBS scholarships across the country. Look at Texas State’s class. None. https://247sports.com/college/texas-state/Season/2021-Football/Commits/ Teams are losing 10+ guys to the portal and replacing them with 10+ guys from the portal. But that eats into the 25-per class signing limit, so they can only bring on 10 or so high school kids when they used to bring in 20-25. People continually overlook the impact everyone getting a free season of eligibility is having and are attributing it all to the portal. There is essentially one senior class exiting, split up between the end of last season (2020) and the end of next season (2021). After 2022 teams will finally have a full senior class departure. At that point they will have to replenish, not just swap out. Hopefully by then we see something in place so that teams can replace the transfer they lose AND still bring in HS and JUCOs to replenish lost Seniors.
  15. Yup. Have to change the rule. Something like 25 spots for high school and JUCOs (like normal), 10 for D1 scholarship transfers. Also, if a team loses 20 scholarship seniors and 15 guys to the portal, if they went and got 15 guys from the portal they’d only have 10 spots to replace the departing seniors. Because of seniors getting an extra year this isn’t really affecting teams, but it will and the last thing we need is kids not getting scholarships because of the 25-limit when spots are available on the 85.
  16. Here is the current rundown of scholarship players. We have 10 and we get 13, so 3 spots left to give: PG - FR Rubin Jones, SO Tylor Perry SG - JR Mardrez McBride, SR JJ Murray SF - FR Matthew Stone, FR Aaron Scott PF - SR Thomas Bell, SR Jahmiah Simmons C - FR Abou Ousmane, FR Chrisdon Morgan
  17. We gave up 42.8 points/game last year. This has us giving up 28 points/game. If we improve our defense by 13 points/game, I fully expect us to add more than just one additional win from last season.
