Under Littrell we have been: 2016 - 10th 2017 - 12th 2018 - 8th 2019 - 7th 2020 - 6th Shows the impact 3 straight top recruiting classes will have on the roster. While we had more success when our roster was ranked lower, the last few years our scores have been bumped up by freshmen who weren’t actually seeing the field. Now those guys are older and our ranking here is being propped up by juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.

Wouldn’t be eligible for this season. Needed to have been in the portal by the end of June to be eligible to transfer and not sit this season out.

Maybe but the Murphy twins looked so much better than any edge pass rushing we had seen from anyone the past 3 seasons outside of Hamilton. Watching them actually get by tackles was really impressive. Expecting big things this season, and hope we can re-stock behind them.

If we can land 2 out of Jack Curtis, David Oke, and Hubert I’ll be ecstatic. Put two of them behind the Murphy twins, Pickett, and Jacobi Johnson and we’ll keep our EDGE rushing unit really deep for a while. I think pass rush is going to be our biggest area of improvement defensively (definitely was when the Murphy twins first entered the lineup) and we need it to stay that way.

Sounds like he’s going to pick a guy and roll with him instead of going with co-starters. Tough to tell who that call will be but kind of sounds like verbiage is setting things up for it to be Ruder. Who knows though?

Also nice that running back is generally the position where freshmen can have an impact and it isn’t that surprising. Not like asking a true freshman QB or offensive lineman to be good on day 1.

By multiple reports he has had a standout camp

3 months ago he had just gone through spring as a wire-to-wire starting receiver so probably depends on which random fans we’re talking to lol. The ones who are plugged in and follow more religiously I think would consider one of our starting spring receivers as one of the top guys heading into the season. The more casual fans I’m not even sure if they would be able to name a 3rd receiver outside of Simpson and Shorter. Maybe Rod Burns but fans who know about Burns are likely heading into that die-hard territory where they are aware Thompson had just started the bowl game and caught two TDs after playing corner the weeks prior. Not gonna lie, hard for me to get in the mind of the more casual fans but I envy being able to just show up on game days and not follow every ebb and flow of the drag that is the offseason.

Does a dude who started on both sides of the ball as a true freshman and has been the starting slot receiver since the beginning of spring really qualify as a dark horse heading into the season?

I had a thought today that if Bean had put together solid drives against SMU last season to start the game, I wonder if Littrell even bothers rotating Aune in that game. Even if Aune/Ruder is as close as Bean/Aune last season I wonder if Seth skips the rotating against SMU if the starter comes out playing well.

Were you watching it? If so have any thoughts on the day as a whole?

When it comes to deciding the QB, I’m a lot less concerned in how I think it should go or how I think we should handle it. I’m more concerned with how Littrell is actually going to handle it based on what info we’re getting and what we know about Littrell’s MO.

If they’re at the same point it’ll probably be decided in game action. That’s what I’m expecting.
