  1. Rico Bussey was 1-9 his senior season of high school. Darden’s team was 2-8. These guys were key impact guys on our 9 win teams. This is just such an incredibly simplistic way to approach high school recruiting. Makes zero sense to penalize recruits for having bad high school teammates.
  2. Benford coached every game we had for the duration of his 5-year contract. Including that last season.
  3. Figured that was the case with Kee but I don’t know the situation well enough. Thank you.
  4. Whatever your model is, my point is that it’s a bad idea to exclude candidates who don’t fit that model.
  5. That’s why we picked McCarney over the others, sure. But the point is we basically filtered the search to guys with HC experience before it ever began. That’s my point.
  6. Put me down for Mike Yurcich
  7. Does anyone know the answer to this? He wasn’t here when we hired Seth, he just let Benford’s contract expire, Tracey Kee resigned, Palileo, Jalie Mitchell, Hedlund, and Sujay Lama were all here when Baker got here as well. That’s the extent of our Head Coach situations that I’m familiar with. Also in the Athletic Department I remember one of Kuehne’s consulting firms ran some audit/evaluation on the Athletic Department under RV and they found massive problems with the operating procedures of the department. Baker came in and seemed to pretty much keep everyone. He seems to do a solid job with the hires, but I’m unsure of his ability to remove someone who is consistently underperforming. Am I off base or omitting contrary info?
  8. This is how every UNT coaching search goes and it’s bad practice every time. Stop looking for a mold and find the right guy, regardless of resume. After Dodge the focus was on getting someone who had led an FBS program before. That led us to an over-the-hill coach who did understand how to run an FBS program but couldn’t keep up with modern-day offense or recruiting. Then after him it was all about getting a bright offensive mind. That led us to Littrell. All this line of thinking does is unnecessarily eliminate candidates who could be a really good fit.
  9. Such a damn shame that RV wasn’t let go sooner. We should’ve had a competent AD in place to make this hire and because we didn’t we look awful heading into the huge realignment movement.

  11. Aune had a golden opportunity and has blown it. Not sure any QB on this roster is going to change our fortunes, especially with the way our running game and receivers are not doing anything to help
  12. Bloesch is doing no one any favors with this playcalling.
  13. Blake Bean ran out of eligibility in 2015 😔
  14. Thrown a pick in all 5 halves of football so far for Ruder. Leads to a TD. Killer
  15. This is a really good move. Teams get 25 spots per class. The problem was that transfers counted towards this 25 so that ate a huge chunk out of spots available to high schoolers. This should help significantly. Teams might still use some of their 25 towards transfers but rarely did teams sign 25 high schoolers in a class to begin with.
  16. Mordecai has 3 years of eligibility left. Not sure he takes them all, but he does have 3 if he wants.
  17. Definitely think you still sign a QB per class out of high school. The best way to have solid depth at the QB position is to have some grade separation between your starter and your backup. If there’s no grade separation then any quality backup will probably look to go somewhere else and try to start rather than backup the same guy the rest of their career. The best way to get grade separation is by having young QBs, like high school signees. An ideal QB depth chart to me would be something like this: - Senior starter - sophomore second string - true freshman second string You start your senior, have a backup waiting in the wings to take over, and have a true freshman redshirting and ready to step into the backup QB role the next season when the current backup becomes the starter. And the true freshman can see their path to becoming a multi-year starter themselves. Keep signing a high school QB so you always have a QB on your roster with some grade separation from the starter, then if you aren’t completely sold on that player when he’s up for the starting job then you get the best you can add in the portal. Or if someone really good becomes available in the portal otherwise go get him.
  18. I believe Graham Harrell used to coach at North Texas iirc
  19. Aune comes in and throws way high. Always been his big struggle. Ruder’s misses suck but he hasn’t missed as bad as Aune seems too. Still gotta think we probably have more points this season if Aune were in, but makes sense why Ruder was chosen.
  20. Yeah it was like he passed it up looking for something better and that never happened. Followed by a delay of game penalty 🤦‍♂️
  21. He is in street clothes on the sideline
  22. The Murphy twins are awesome, I love the pass rush they are providing, just need them to figure out the cramping. They’ve gone down with cramps just about every game since they were inserted into the lineup against MTSU.
  23. Bush in a boot on the sideline, out for game per sideline reporter
