  1. I don’t know how he has looked but was hoping he’d push a little more to at least be in the mix. I.e. splitting second team reps with Martin or something. All I really know is that he’s ahead of Gilmore but no clue if he was closer to Martin or Gilmore.
  2. Except I admitted this when I further clarified my point in regards to Emmitt’s interpretation. You, on the other hand, have only blamed me in regards to you inserting an extra word that wasn’t there in my post. Something only you did, not anyone else. This lack of accountability from you seems pretty on brand though.
  3. I thought our offense looked respectable when we were mixing up the pass, handoff, and zone read with Aune pulling the ball keeping the defense off balance. Those were our best drives when we incorporated all three, and that has to be the game plan going forward. Accuracy is still the issue for Aune. He needs to put the pass on player’s chest on the sideline. Early in the game Aune made a 2nd down pass to Ward on a hitch play and Ward had to go down and get it, eliminating the chance for YAC. We ran the ball next play and didn’t get the 1st, but had that pass from Aune been at Ward’s chest, he probably gets the 1st. He also threw a similar low pass to Roberts on a similar route and Roberts couldn’t get it. Even before Aune’s last two touchdown passes “inflated” his stats, he was sitting at 13-22 with 180 yards and 2 TDs/2INTs. That’s 59% completion and over 8 yards/attempt, which is respectable. I feel like he’s playing well enough to give us a chance in our remaining conference games. Is he good enough to lift us above our conference opponents? Not much evidence of that but he’s going to get a chance and it might be the last of his college career so he needs to make it count.
  4. Ah yes. It was my fault that you inserted a word that wasn’t there into my post.
  5. I did not. Try reading it again.
  6. Qualify all you want. There’s definitely legitimate room to. I just think it’s disingenuous that the general sentiment is that it was a poor performance when it seemed the general sentiment on Ruder the first two weeks were that he was playing okay the first two weeks despite the bad stats. Not accusing anyone specifically, just seems given those were the seemingly consensus takeaways on the board that there was some overlap.
  7. No, I acknowledged it. That’s why I put the last sentence there at the end. I also agree on your indirect point though that we need to see some yards and points when the game is tied or we have the lead. Not just feel good for some points put up at the end of a losing effort.
  8. I’ll take everyone qualifying how 300 yards and 4 TDs/2 INTs against Mizzou was actually an awful performance bc it was garbage time or whatever over people lying to themselves that Ruder actually looked okay throwing for 131 yards with 1 TD/2 INTs against an FCS defense. We want to talk about how this still isn’t going to be enough to turn our season around, definitely.
  9. That was a hell of a play. Give the men some credit there.
  10. Every senior last season got to come back this season. College football will essentially have 1 senior class departing after the 2020 and 2021 seasons combined, with 2 high school classes entering college football in that time. There had to be some way to account for the surplus of players. The 2020 high school class and the 2021 high school class players all have 5 years of eligibility currently. If this rule extends beyond that then it will be about something else.
  11. Just hope we’re throwing the ball on early downs.
  12. Technically I think Johnson is a slot so not so much leapfrogged by McMillan but definitely agree it’s head scratching to not see him or Lyles getting any looks in the slot. Last two weeks with Thompson out seemed as good a chance as ever for them. Honestly I would like to see more Kameron Hill. I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from him. The penalties from Gabriel have been killer.
  13. Nevada is a home and home. UTA is part of a series. I haven’t seen an announcement on Buffalo, or any of the other home opponents, being a home and home
  14. Depends what exactly the injury is. Last year he got his leg snapped because people rolled up on his leg from behind while he was blocking and not looking. Durable or injury prone, outcome is going to be the same with anyone in that situation. Not as clear on his injury this year.
  15. Game 1 announced vs. Oklahoma Christian (DII) on November 9th. They were our opening opponent for the 2019-2020 season. We have 12 non-conference games scheduled and 13 has been the number every full season under Mccasland.
  16. No Austin Kendall for La Tech
  17. Yeah you are both likely right. This isn’t an RV operation anymore. That being said, if I had to put money on it I’d say Wren would go with someone who has been an FBS HC before. I remember when we hired Mccasland he mentioned going into that search they knew they wanted someone who wouldn’t have to learn on the job. I could see that same outlook with the realignment landscape necessitating a sense of urgency on the football front.
  18. Yeah very possible. Was hoping we’d get him when it looked like Seth was going to K State. At this point it is very possible he has P5 offers.
  19. We probably won’t because at North Texas when we fire a coach we always seem to blame it on that coaches background and say we can’t have that kind of coach again. So I doubt we get another P5 OC as a 1st-time HC. That being said, if we’re going to reduce him to just saying he’s the same as Seth then this search is not going to be as exhaustive as it should be. Yurcich has a far more accomplished background and has worked his way up all the way from NAIA to DII to being one of the highest paid assistants in the country and makes as much as Seth already. Need that combo of passion and football smarts because it just feels like the passion towards the job has severely waned from Seth.
  20. Lyles is a redshirt freshman. But yeah, sure. We need more separation out of our receivers and if that means burning a redshirt, do it.
  21. I liked what I saw out of Khatib Lyles in the slot late in the game. He was competing hard when there wasn’t a lot of that happening at that stage of the game.
  22. When was the last time it looked like Littrell and his staff out worked another staff? Just feels like other coaching staffs are working their asses off to prepare their team and game plan, and Littrell just shows up. It’s sad because we used to routinely punch above our weight in the early Littrell years and always looked like we came in ready and with a plan. Even against teams like Florida and Iowa. We were overmatched offensively against Florida but it was only 19-0 heading into the 4th.
  23. Pressure is really on basketball. Doubt they look at it that way, but we absolutely need them to have a good season. It will go a long way towards by gaining the reputation of a legit program, and not just a fluke. Kind of like how Butler was really good for 2 years with AJ Graves and some other seniors in 07 and 08, when they were able to still win and get a single digit NCAA tourney seed the next year without them that solidified their place as a good program not just a good team. If they hadn’t maintained that success they wouldn’t be in the Big East. For re-alignment attractiveness we need to be seen as a top basketball program, not just a one-hit wonder. Especially with the way football is going.
